Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve students' understanding of the latest basketball rules through a socialization of refereeing in accordance with official FIBA regulations. This activity was held for three days at the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences (FIKK) of Makassar State University and was attended by 120 students from various study programs. The implementation method included theoretical material delivery, interactive discussions, situational case studies, and on-field refereeing simulation practice. The main material provided included updates to game rules, refereeing mechanisms, the use of referee signals, and the application of decisions in match situations. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' understanding of refereeing rules and techniques, as evidenced by their enthusiasm during the discussion session, their ability to answer evaluation questions, and their improved skills in refereeing simulation practice. This activity is expected to provide initial provisions for FIKK UNM students to apply their knowledge of basketball refereeing correctly in academic activities, internal competitions, and community service within the school environment and sports communities.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate and compare the level of daily physical activity of students during online and offline Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning at SMA Negeri 2 Sinjai. The approach used is quantitative with a descriptive comparative design. The sample consisted of 60 students selected purposively, 30 students each from the online and offline learning groups. Data were collected through a physical activity questionnaire modified from the PAQ-A instrument and analyzed using an unpaired t-test. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the two groups, where students in offline learning had a higher average physical activity score (3.45) compared to students in online learning (2.68), with a p value = 0.002. These findings indicate that offline PJOK learning is more effective in increasing students' daily physical activity. This study recommends the development of adaptive PJOK learning strategies so that students remain physically active, especially in distance learning situations.

Abstract

Fitness and health are important indicators in supporting the growth and development of elementary school students. However, increasing sedentary lifestyles may negatively affect children’s physical activity and fitness levels. This study aimed to analyze the profile of health-related physical fitness and examine the relationship between physical activity behavior and fitness components among elementary school students. A descriptive-analytical method with a cross-sectional design was employed, involving 43 students from SD Inpres Karunrung. Physical fitness was assessed using a battery of tests measuring cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition, while physical activity behavior was measured using a physical activity questionnaire. Data were analyzed descriptively and correlationally using the Spearman rho test with SPSS version 25. The results showed that most students were classified in the moderate category across nearly all physical fitness components. A positive and significant relationship was found between physical activity and cardiorespiratory fitness (r = 0.462; p < 0.05) as well as muscular strength and endurance (r = 0.398; p < 0.05). No significant relationship was observed with flexibility and body composition. In conclusion, physical activity plays an important role in supporting health-related physical fitness, particularly functional fitness components, in elementary school students.

Abstract

Introduction. Physical fitness is an important indicator of adolescent health, closely related to cardiovascular function and the body's ability to perform physical activity. One physiological parameter reflecting cardiovascular system regulation is resting heart rate variability, which has the potential to serve as an objective indicator of physical fitness. This study aimed to examine the relationship between resting heart rate variability and physical fitness levels in adolescents. Methods. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional correlational design. Fifty-eight students from SMP Negeri 3 Gowa were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Resting heart rate variability was measured using a digital heart rate monitor, while physical fitness levels were assessed using the Cooper test. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using the Pearson correlation test with SPSS version 25 at a significance level of 0.05. Results. The findings revealed a positive and significant relationship between resting heart rate variability and physical fitness levels (r = 0.462; p = 0.001). Adolescents with better resting heart rate variability tended to demonstrate higher levels of physical fitness. Conclusion. Resting heart rate variability is significantly associated with physical fitness levels in adolescents and shows potential as an objective physiological indicator for monitoring physical fitness.

Abstract

Students' physical readiness is a crucial factor in supporting active participation in educational activities and academic activities in general. State Senior High School 12, located on Satangnga Island, Mattiro Baji Village, Tanakeke Islands District, Takalar Regency, faces limited sports facilities and does not yet have a structured physical fitness evaluation system. This community service activity aims to provide assistance in fitness evaluation and motor skill development to improve students' physical readiness. The method used is participatory training and mentoring through initial assessment stages, material delivery, structured practice exercises based on training circuits and motor games, and a final evaluation. The activity participated in the activity amounted to 40 students. The results of the pre-test and post-test analysis showed significant improvements in the components of cardiorespiratory endurance, muscle strength and endurance, agility, and balance (p < 0.05). This program not only improves students' physical condition but also strengthens teachers' capacity to carry out fitness evaluations independently. This activity is recommended as an adaptive and sustainable physical fitness training model for schools in the island region.
