Abstract

This study aims to explore the meaning of work ethics in relation to employees’ mental health within the café industry, with a specific focus on Ox Coffee in Medan. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with five permanent employees across various roles. The findings indicate that the application of work ethics at Ox Coffee encompasses discipline, responsibility, open communication, customer service, and skills development. Employees perceive work ethics as a guide for managing job-related stress, a foundation for psychological well-being, a contributor to professional identity, and a mechanism for reducing workplace conflict and tension. Key factors such as fairness in task distribution, constructive communication, recognition of employee contributions, and work-life balance were found to significantly influence mental health. The study recommends strategies including the development of a supportive and inclusive work culture, skills training, effective communication systems, and mental health programs to foster a psychologically healthy workplace in the café sector.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of product diversity and location on consumer purchase intention at UD Jesron. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method through questionnaires distributed to 40 respondents who have purchased products at UD Jesron. Data were analyzed using validity tests, reliability, normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²) with the help of SPSS version 25. The results showed that product diversity had no significant effect on purchase intention (sig. 0.849 > 0.05), while location had a positive and significant effect on purchase intention (sig. 0.010 < 0.05). Simultaneously, both variables significantly affected purchase intention with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The coefficient of determination indicates that 33.8% of the variation in purchase intention is influenced by product diversity and location, while the rest is influenced by other variables outside the model. Based on these findings, it is suggested that UD Jesron should optimize its business location and implement appropriate marketing strategies for its products.

Abstract

Taxes are the primary source of state revenue, and the Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) is one of the regional taxes that contributes significantly to Regional Original Revenue (PAD). However, taxpayer compliance in the city of Medan remains suboptimal. This study aims to analyze the effect of awareness and education level on taxpayer compliance in paying motor vehicle taxes in Medan. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a survey technique involving 75 taxpayers. Data analysis includes validity and reliability tests, normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that both awareness and education level have a significant partial effect on taxpayer compliance, supported by significance values less than 0.05. Simultaneously, the two variables also have a significant influence, with an R Square value of 0.471. This means that 47.1% of the variation in taxpayer compliance is explained by awareness and education level. These findings indicate that improving taxpayer awareness and education is a crucial factor in increasing compliance with motor vehicle tax payments in Medan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of career planning on students' job readiness, using a case study of university students in Medan City. The background of this research is based on the low job readiness among students, often caused by the lack of structured career planning. This research employs a descriptive quantitative method with a sample of 35 respondents. Data analysis techniques include validity and reliability tests, normality test, heteroscedasticity test, simple linear regression, t-test, and determination test. The normality test results show that the data are normally distributed (sig. = 0.769 > 0.05). The heteroscedasticity test indicates no heteroscedasticity problem. Regression analysis results show that career planning has a significant effect on job readiness, with a significance value of 0.002 (< 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.250, indicating that 25% of job readiness is explained by career planning. It can be concluded that the better the career planning possessed by students, the higher their readiness to enter the job market. This study supports the importance of early career development for students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of cooperation among employees and its impact on the work environment at Coffee Kohi Medan. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving five employees from various divisions (waiters, barista, kitchen). The findings indicate that while employee cooperation is present, it faces challenges such as ineffective cross-divisional communication, uneven task distribution, and imbalanced workloads. Nevertheless, the existing cooperation contributes to a sense of responsibility and workplace comfort. This study highlights the importance of managerial roles in building a structured workflow system, providing team training, and encouraging open communication to create a healthy and productive work environment.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis risiko bisnis pada Laundry Shassy Tanjungbalai dengan menggunakan metode analisis SWOT. Setiap usaha menghadapi risiko yang dapat mempengaruhi kelancaran operasional dan keberlanjutan bisnisnya, termasuk dalam bisnis laundry. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan observasi terhadap pemilik usaha Laundry Shassy. Hasil analisis SWOT menunjukkan bahwa Laundry Shassy memiliki beberapa kekuatan utama, seperti kualitas layanan yang baik, lokasi strategis, dan penggunaan mesin modern. Namun, terdapat kelemahan, seperti kerusakan mesin yang sering terjadi, kekurangan karyawan, dan tidak adanya layanan antar-jemput. Di sisi peluang, gaya hidup masyarakat yang sibuk membuka kesempatan untuk memperluas pangsa pasar, sementara kerjasama dengan bisnis lokal dan penambahan layanan baru dapat meningkatkan pendapatan. Ancaman yang dihadapi meliputi persaingan usaha laundry yang semakin ketat dan kenaikan biaya operasional. Berdasarkan temuan ini, Laundry Shassy dapat memperkuat posisinya dengan mengelola kelemahan yang ada, seperti meningkatkan perawatan mesin, menambah karyawan, dan menyediakan layanan antar-jemput untuk meningkatkan kepuasan pelanggan. Dengan demikian, Laundry Shassy dapat mengelola risiko dengan lebih baik dan memperkuat keberlanjutan serta pertumbuhan bisnisnya.

Abstract

The reforestation and community service activities at STIE IBMI Medan aim to enhance the academic community's awareness of environmental conservation, strengthen solidarity among students, lecturers, and the surrounding community, and provide practical knowledge about sustainable planting techniques. This program also integrates legal aspects to create synergy between environmental awareness and regulatory compliance, with the goal of establishing an inspiring eco-friendly campus model. The results of the activity demonstrated success in creating a greener and healthier campus environment, while also raising awareness among students and the community about the importance of environmental preservation. Through community collaboration, social relationships among the academic community and the surrounding society were significantly strengthened. The active participation of the Gunung Hitam Nature Enthusiasts Association was a key factor in the program's success, culminating in the planting and arrangement of plants in various strategic campus locations. This success brings STIE IBMI Medan closer to becoming a role model for eco-friendly educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of mental health and work-life balance on turnover intentions of Generation Z employees in Medan City. The method used in this study is quantitative involving 65 respondents as samples. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 26. The results of the validity and reliability tests indicate that the research instrument is valid and reliable. The classical assumption test has been met, including normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity. Regression analysis shows that mental health and work-life balance have a positive and significant influence, both partially and simultaneously, on turnover intentions. The Adjusted R Square value of 0.604 indicates that the two variables can explain 60.4% of the variation in turnover intentions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of shipping costs and prices on the behavior of consumers using Grab services in Medan City. The research employs a quantitative approach through a survey by distributing questionnaires to 99 respondents who have utilized Grab services (GrabFood or GrabExpress) in the last six months. Data analysis is conducted using validity, reliability, normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity tests, multiple linear regression, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²) with the assistance of SPSS version 25 software. The results indicate that shipping costs have a positive but insignificant effect on consumer behavior (sig. 0.172 > 0.05), while price has a positive and significant effect on consumer behavior (sig. 0.000 < 0.05). Simultaneously, both variables significantly influence consumer behavior with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The coefficient of determination shows that 50.8% of consumer behavior is influenced by shipping costs and prices, while the remaining percentage is affected by other variables outside the model. Based on these findings, it is recommended that Grab maintain competitive pricing and continue to innovate its services to attract more consumers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Online Customer Review and Online Customer Rating on the Loyalty of Gen Z consumers on the Shopee e-commerce platform in Medan City. The research method used is quantitative with a sample size of 55 respondents. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 26. Validity and reliability tests indicated that the research instruments were valid and reliable. Classical assumption tests, including normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity, were met. The regression analysis results showed that Online Customer Review and Online Customer Rating have a positive and significant effect on Consumer Loyalty, both partially and simultaneously. The Adjusted R Square value of 0.263 indicates that these two variables explain 26.3% of the variation in consumer loyalty.
