Abstract

Organizations are a real means for students to develop aspects of character development and critical thinking skills. At Universitas Nusantara PGRI Kediri there are various organizations that are able to provide insight for students in developing their competencies. The aim of this Community Service activity is to provide insight into the importance of organizing for new students in developing character and critical thinking skills. The Community Service Method is socialization which includes preparation, implementation, documentation and evaluation stages. The essence of implementing socialization activities is sharing knowledge and brainstorming. The participants in the Community Service activities are all new students from the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program for the 2022/2023 academic year. The positive results obtained from socialization activities have a positive impact on the importance of joining organizations for students as a form of implication in increasing scientific insight and networking, responsiveness in problem solving, improving communication and leadership skills, training entrepreneurial skills, administrative governance, forming a disciplined and responsible attitude. responsibility, independence, forming a high work ethic, and forming social attitudes.

Abstract

This study is an effort to improve student learning outcomes in the Indonesian language subject through the application of the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model to lower grade students at SDI Asy Syarif Mojokerto. This study was motivated by low student learning outcomes and below the KKM in the Indonesian language subject. The research method used was classroom action research (PTK). The research sample was conducted randomly with a total of 30 students. Data analysis used quantitative data with percentage increase techniques. The results of the study showed that student learning outcomes increased quite significantly in cycle 1 by 40% and cycle 2 by 67%. This provides significant evidence that the application of the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model can improve the learning outcomes of lower grade students at SDI Asy Syarif Mojokerto.

Abstract

The rise of radicalism and terrorism issues is partly due to the lack of support for character education in school educational institutions. The role of character education in the elementary school environment is very important, especially in building religious character. Religious character is one of the characters that guide students towards a generation with a high spiritual attitude. The achievement indicators are measured through a rubric for assessing attitudes and character periodically when students participate in daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly activities. Religious character can be realized through interesting activity programs. The purpose of this study is to describe religious character education at Paramadina Kediri Modern Elementary School. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study research design. The subjects in this study consisted of the Principal and Teachers. The results of the study describe several religious-based educational programs including congregational Dhuha Prayer, Morning Prayer Reading, Istighosah, Khotmil Al-Qur'an, Maqbaroh Pilgrimage, Yasin & Tahlil, Memorization of Short Surahs, Sholawat & Al-Banjari Art, Commemoration of Islamic Holidays, and Tadabur Alam. All of these programs are implemented in line with the school's curriculum and vision and mission. Through the existing activity program, it is hoped that it will become a habituation in order to improve the religious character of students at Paramadina Kediri Modern Elementary School.

Abstract

Early reading ability is a fundamental skill that serves as a key determinant of students’ academic success at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level. The main problem identified at MI Nurul Iman Jombang was the significant gap in literacy skills at the beginning of the academic year, where several students were unable to recognize basic sound symbols. This study aimed to comprehensively describe the implementation of diagnostic assessment as an early detection strategy for reading difficulties among first-grade students. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design, this research involved 28 students as the main subjects. Data were collected through cognitive assessment instruments measuring five indicators (letter recognition, syllable sounds, word reading, sentence fluency, and basic comprehension) as well as non-cognitive assessments covering students’ interest profiles and home environmental support. The findings revealed that the cognitive diagnostic assessment successfully mapped students’ abilities into three groups: proficient group (25%), developing group (40%), and group requiring special intervention (35%). The most dominant difficulties identified were obstacles in pronouncing syllables consisting of three or more letters and visual confusion regarding letters with similar geometric shapes. From a non-cognitive perspective, the study found a literacy paradox in which 89% of students stated that they highly enjoyed reading activities, yet 51% of them did not have consistent reading routines within their families. External factors such as limited parental assistance and unstructured use of digital devices became the primary inhibiting factors. The implication of this study highlights the importance of designing differentiated learning based on diagnostic data to mitigate the risk of functional illiteracy. This study concludes that the systematic integration of diagnostic assessment at the beginning of the semester enables teachers to provide more precise interventions, thereby optimizing the achievement of reading proficiency targets in lower grades in accordance with the mandate of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan mengkaji strategi pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) yang efektif di era transformasi digital melalui metode studi pustaka dengan analisis deskriptif. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan teknologi digital, seperti kecerdasan buatan (AI), gamifikasi, platform pembelajaran daring, dan model flipped classroom, dapat meningkatkan motivasi, keterlibatan, serta kompetensi komunikatif dan sosiolinguistik pemelajar. Efektivitas pembelajaran tidak hanya dipengaruhi oleh penggunaan teknologi, tetapi juga oleh penerapan pendekatan komunikatif, personalisasi materi, dan integrasi budaya lokal yang kontekstual. Sinergi antara teknologi digital dan konten budaya Indonesia terbukti mendukung penguasaan bahasa sekaligus memperkuat pemahaman sosial-budaya pemelajar. Dengan demikian, strategi pembelajaran BIPA perlu mengedepankan pendekatan pedagogis yang adaptif, berpusat pada peserta didik, dan berbasis teknologi untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran serta menjawab tantangan globalisasi bahasa.

Abstract

Learning Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) poses unique challenges, particularly in understanding Indonesia's linguistic and cultural distinctiveness. Foreign students at Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya come from diverse countries of origin, which naturally influences their preferences in absorbing lecture materials. This study aims to identify and analyze the learning methods applied by BIPA students at Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya and the factors influencing them. This study utilized a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through classroom observation, in-depth interviews with BIPA students, and open-ended questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using data reduction, data display, and conclusion-drawing techniques. The results of the study indicate that BIPA students at Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya tend to combine a communicative approach with cultural immersion. Out-of-class activities, such as direct interaction with native speakers within the campus environment and the utilization of audiovisual-based digital media, proved to be the most effective methods for them. Personal motivation factors and social-cultural adaptation in Surabaya play an important role in the selection of these methods.
