Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability to understand mathematical concepts, activities and student responses in learning mathematics with realistic mathematics education approach. To achieve this goal, a quasi-experimental study was conducted with one group pretest posttest design. The population of the study was the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Angkola Timur, sampling by purposive sampling, namely class 8-2, totaling 26 students. Research activities include the stages of giving the Pre-test followed by learning for 3 meetings which then ends with a final test. Through research conducted using the Paired Samples Test, a significance of 0.00 < 0.05 was obtained, which gave the decision that the initial hypothesis was accepted. Of the 9 aspects of learning activities studied in the application of realistic mathematics education, the overall average value of the percentage of all activities met the active criteria. Furthermore, the average overall student response to being happy, new, interested and understanding/interested in the implementation of realistic mathematics education is 91.11% ≥ 85%. Thus it is concluded that: 1) The implementation of a realistic mathematics education approach has a significant positive influence in learning students' ability to understand mathematical concepts; 2) Student activities in learning mathematics with realistic mathematics education approach are effective; 3) Student responses to learning activities with realistic mathematics education are in the positive category.

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to describe the validity of learning tools in fostering students' motivation, self-efficacy and mathematics learning outcomes through jigsaw cooperative learning. Learning tools consist of syllabus, lesson plans, student activity sheet, learning motivation questionnaire, self-efficacy questionnaire and learning outcomes tests which include pretest and posttest. This type of research is descriptive. The research instrument is a learning device validation sheet. The research subject is a learning device. The object of research is the level of validity of the learning device. The results showed that the validated learning tools obtained a validity index in the valid category where the syllabus was 0.78, lesson plan was 0.80, student activity sheet was 0.79, Learning Motivation Questionnaire was 0.85, Learning self-efficacy questionnaire was 0.84. , test (Pre-test) learning outcomes of 0.80, test (post-test) Learning Outcomes of 0.84, the total average value of learning devices is 0.81. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the Jigsaw type cooperative learning tool in fostering motivation, self-efficacy and student learning outcomes was valid. Keywords: Validity, Cooperative tipe Jigsaw, Motivation, Self-efficacy, Learning Outcomes AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan validitas perangkat pembelajaran dalam menumbuhkan motivasi, self-efficacy dan hasil belajar matematika siswa melalui pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw. Perangkat pembelajaran terdiri dari Silabus, RPP, LAS, Angket motivasi belajar, Angket Self-efficacy dan tes hasil belajar yang meliputi pretes dan postes. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif.  Instrumen penelitian adalah lembar validasi perangkat pembelajaran. Subjek penelitian adalah perangkat pembelajaran. Objek penelitian adalah tingkat validitas perangkat pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang divalidasi memperoleh indeks validitas dalam kategori valid dimana Silabus sebesar 0,78, RPP sebesar 0,80, LAS sebesar 0,79, Angket Motivasi Belajar sebesar 0,85, angket self-efficacy Belajar sebesar 0,84, tes (Pretes) hasil belajar sebesar 0,80, tes (postes) Hasil Belajar sebesar 0,84, nilai rata-rata total dari perangkat pembelajaran sebesar 0,81. Berdasaikan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelaajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw dalam menumbuhkan motivasi, self-efficacy dan hasil belajar siswa adalah valid. KataKunci: Validitas, Kooperatif tipe Jigsaw, Motivasi, Self-efficacy, Hasil Belajar

Abstract

Students' low critical thinking skills are the main problem in this research. Apart from that, in learning it was found that the textbooks used were less varied and did not direct students to develop their thinking abilities. The learning model that can maximize thinking abilities is Brain Based Learning (BBL) and the learning approach that has clear stages and can be included in textbooks is the scientific approach. The aim of this research is to develop a textbook using the BBL model assisted by a scientific approach in teaching students' critical thinking skills. The development model used is the ADDIE Model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation. Research instruments include validation sheets, questionnaires and tests. Research data includes product validation data obtained from expert validation, product response data obtained from student response questionnaire results, and students' critical thinking abilities obtained from tests. The data obtained was analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. The data analysis carried out showed the results of achieving a Validity Mean Percentage Score (PRS) of 84.74 (valid criteria), the practicality of achieving PRS of 80.59 (practical criteria), and achieving PRS effectiveness of 89.31 (effective criteria). The data analysis carried out shows that the product developed meets the criteria of being valid, practical and effective and is suitable for use as a textbook. Based on these achievements, the development of textbook products with a brain-based learning model is feasible and good for use in teaching students' mathematical critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa melalui pembelajaran matematika realistik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tidakan kelas yang meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII-1 SMP Negeri 3 Padangsidimpuan dengan jumlah siswa 26 orang. Objek penelitian adalah kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang diberi pembelajaran matematika realistik pada materi bilangan pecahan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran matematika realistik memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang ditunjukkan dengan peningkatan pada: 1) Nilai rata-rata kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa 79,79 pada siklus I dan 84,71 pada siklus II; 2) Aktivitas aktif siswa dalam pembelajaran dengan pembelajaran matematika realistik dikategorikan efektif yakni memperoleh persentase 80% pada siklus I dan 90% efektif pada siklus dua dengan kriteria keefektifan ≥ 80%; 3) Capaian ketuntasan kalasikal kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa 73,08% pada siklus I dan 88,46% pada siklus II dengan nilai minimal ketuntasan klasikal 85%. This study aims to improve students' mathematical communication skills through realistic mathematics education. The research method used is classroom action research which includes the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were students of class VII-1 of SMP Negeri 3 Padangsidimpuan with a total of 26 students. The object of research is the mathematical communication skills of students who are given realistic mathematics education on fraction material. The results showed that the application of realistic mathematics education had a positive impact on the improvement of students 'mathematicalcommunication skills as indicated by an increase in 1) The average value of students' mathematical communication skills was 79.79 in cycle I and 84.71 in cycle II; 2) The active activity of students in learning with realistic mathematics learning is categorized as effective, namely obtaining 80% percentage in the first cycle and 90% effective in the second cycle with the effectiveness criteria ≥ 80%; 3) Achievement of Kalasikal completeness of students' mathematical communication skills is 73.08% in cycle I and 88.46% in cycle II with a minimum grade of 85% classical completeness.

Abstract

Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah rendahnya Kemampuan Koneksi Matematis (KKnM) siswa dan pembelajaran terlaksana cenderung bersifat konvensional. Suatu alternatif mengoptimalkan kemampuan bermatematika siswa dan perbaikan proses pembelajaran yaitu mempertimbangkan penerapan pendekatan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan open-ended. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan apakah terdapat interaksi Kemampuan Awal Matematika (KAM) dan gender dengan pendekatan pembelajaran dalam membelajarkan KKnM siswa. Penelitian merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu dengan rancangan Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah essay test KKnM siswa. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan sebanyak 9 rombongan belajar dan sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII-5 dan VII-6 yang masing-masing kelas berjumlah 28 siswa. Hasil penelitian melalui uji hipotesis dengan anava dua jalur menunjukkan tidak terdapat interaksi antara KAM dengan pendekatan pembelajaran dalam membelajarkan KKnM siswa dan tidak terdapat interaksi antara gender dengan pendekatan pembelajaran dalam membelajarkan KKnM siswa. The problem in this study was the low of students' Mathematical Connection Ability (MCA) and learning that tends to be conventional. An alternative to optimizing students' mathematical abilities and improving the learning process is to consider the applying of a learning approach to the open-ended approach. This study aims to describe is there any interaction between the Mathematical Prior Ability (MPA) and gender with the learning approach in teaching the students’ MCA. The research was quasi-experimental research with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The used instrument was the students’ mathematical connection ability essay test. The population of the research was 7th-grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan with 9 groups study and the sample of the research were students of grades VII-5 and VII-6, where the number of each class was 28 students. The research results by hypothesis testing with two-way Anava showed that there was no interaction between the MPA with the learning approach in teaching the students’ MCA and there was no interaction between gender with the learning approach in teaching the student’ MCA.

Abstract

Strengthening the Pancasila student profile is an important effort to instill Pancasila values in the younger generation, especially among junior high school students. This community service aims to introduce and strengthen junior high school students' understanding of the Pancasila student profile. Community service activities are carried out through the socialization of the values of the Pancasila student profile with the Participatory Action Research (PAR) model. The methods used are lectures, discussions, and practices of implementing Pancasila values in everyday life. The subjects of this activity involved 56 grade VII students of SMP Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan. The community service activities carried out showed that there was an increase in student responses to the Pancasila profile after the socialization activities were carried out. Furthermore, it can be observed that in the socialization activities carried out, students were enthusiastic in participating in the socialization and understanding the concept of the Pancasila student profile. Students can identify and explain the six dimensions of the Pancasila student profile, namely having faith, being devoted to God Almighty and having noble character, being globally diverse, having critical thinking, being independent, and working together. In addition, students are also able to provide examples of the application of Pancasila values in everyday life.

Abstract

Tujuan khusus kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk membangun kesadaran belajar matematika melalui pendekatan historis pada siswa SMA Negeri 6 Padangsidimpuan sehingga mampu mengaplikasikan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan menggadopsi pola kegiatan perencanaan,  pelaksanaan, observasi dan evaluasi, refleksi. Untuk  dapat meningkatkan kesadaran belajar matematika siswa dilakukan pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan historis. Kesadaran belajar matematika siswa kelas X MIA 2 SMA Negeri 6 Padangsidimpuan dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 32 orang ditinjau dari aspek prilaku, kebiasaan, gaya belajar dan kepribadian belajar siswa melalui pendekatan historis dapat meningkat. Peningkatan ini dapat dilihat dari nilai rata rata hasil awal angket kesadaran belajar siswa (73,79) berada dalam kategori sedang dan nilai rata rata akhir angket kesadaran siswa (79,41) berada dalam kategori baik. Kegiatan  pengabdian  dalam pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan historis memberi   manfaat  bagi  siswa  karena siswa lebih memahami materi matematika yang dipelajari, siswa merasa sangat berminat dan siswa lebih senang dalam kegiatan pembelajaran matematika.
