Abstract

Telur adalah produk unggas yang mempunyai nilai gizi tinggi dan mudah dicerna. Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan substitusi tepung ampas tahu dan ransum komersil dalam pakan terhadap produksi dan kualitas telur puyuh. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok  (RAK), terdiri  5 perlakuan dan 4 kelompok.  Tiap kelompok merupakan unit percobaan yang masing-masing terdiri dari 5 ekor puyuh betina. Pengelompokan didasarkan pada berat badan puyuh. Perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah penggunaan tepung ampas tahu sebanyak  0,  5, 10, 15, dan 20 % sebagai substitusi ransum  puyuh  komersil. Parameter yang diamati adalah produksi telur, organoleptik dan kandungan nutrisi telur puyuh. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan sidik ragam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa substitusi ransum komersil dengan tepung ampas tahu berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap produksi telur, organoleptik warna kuning telur puyuh, dan sangat nyata meningkatkan kandungan protein albumen telur puyuh, namun tidak nyata (P>0,05) mempengaruhi organoleptik warna albumen, penampilan telur puyuh,dan kandungan lemak kuning telur puyuh. Kandungan protein albumen dan lemak kuning telur puyuh penelitian ini termasuk normal. Pemberian 20 % tepung ampas tahu (R4) sangat nyata memiliki produksi telur yang lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan pemberian 5 % tepung ampas tahu (R1), namun tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) dengan kontrol (R0). Penggunaan tepung ampas tahu terbaik adalah pada taraf 5 % (R1).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the characteristics of carcass yields and internal and external organs of the broilers fed the diets containing the fermented moringa leaf meal (FMOL) + yellow corn (YC), the moringa-corn (MC) diet formulated to replace parts of the commercial diet (CD). As many as 100 DOC of broiler chicken strain CP 707 were reared for up to 5 weeks to feed experimental diets. A Block Randomized Design (BRD) with subsamples consisted of 4 treatments, 5 blocks, and 2 subsamples were applied in the recent study. The results of studies indicated that removing parts of the CD diet to substitute with the mixture of FMOL + YC caused a significant effect (P0.05) in declining the weights of the whole carcass and the cut-ups but in percentage no significant differences. The weights and percentages of all examined organs were not significantly affected (P0.05). It was concluded that using the moringa mixed with yellow corn reduced the weight of the whole carcass and cut-up carcasses but it could use up to 7.5% in the diet without detrimental effects on the internal and external organs of the broilers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperjelas persepsi masyarakat terhadap limbah ternak sapi (studi kasus di BUMD Pusaka Indatu Desa Blang Weu Baroh Kecamatan Blang Mangat Kota Lhokseumawe. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 2 bulan mulai bulan Juni sampai dengan Juli 2022. Survei bersifat deskriptif. Besar sampel kualitatif adalah 35 orang yang tinggal di sekitar peternakan sapi. Data BUMD Pusaka Indatsu dikumpulkan melalui survei dan wawancara kuesioner. Data diolah secara deskriptif menggunakan tabel distribusi frekuensi dan garis kontinum berdasarkan skor yang diperoleh dari setiap pertanyaan Variabel limpah terdiri dari dua metrik yaitu bau dan kebersihan Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi masyarakat terhadap limpah dari peternakan BUMD di Pusaka Indatu berada pada kategori tidak terganggu.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan litter yang berbeda terhadap performa produksi ayam broiler pada sistem kandang closed house di peternakan UD. Bilkis yang menggunakan litter sekam padi dan Peternakan Muzakkar yang menggunakan serbuk gergaji. Peternakan UD. Bilkis memiliki daya tampung ayam broiler sebanyak 12.000 ekor sedangkan Peternakan Muzakkar memiliki daya tampung ayam broiler sebanyak 10.000 ekor. Peternakan UD. Bilkis dan Peternakan Muzakkar terletak di Kabupaten Bireun. Performa yang dianalisis adalah bobot badan (g), konsumsi ransum (g) dan konversi ransum. Pengambilan data pada penelitian ini berlangsung dari tanggal 01 Oktober 2023 – 12 Juni 2024. Data diambil setiap peternakan adalah satu periode panen. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Pada penelitian didapatkan hasil terbaik pada peternakan Muzakkar dengan menggunakan litter serbuk gergaji yaitu rataan bobot badan yaitu 2.389 g/ekor atau 2,39 kg/ekor, konsumsi ransum 3.318,71 g/ekor/minggu atau 3,32 kg/ekor/minggu dan nilai FCR 1,39, serta data penunjang deplesi 1,79%.

Abstract

Salah satu masalah yang dialami peternak sapi adalah munculnya parasit yang perlu diatasi yaitu ektoparasit. Caplak merupakan salah satu ektoparasit yang sering ditemukan pada hewan ternak dan dapat mengurangi kualitas serta kuantitas produk ternak.  Untuk itu, studi ini dilakukan untuk memahami tingkat prevalensi dan preferensi infestasi caplak menurut bagian tubuh pada sapi bali yang dipelihara di Kandang Peternakan Sapi Kampus Fakultas Sains Pertanian dan Peternakan Universitas Islam Kebangsaan Indonesia , Kabupaten Bireun. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode purprosive sampling yaitu memilih sampel sapi bali  berumur 1-4 tahun  dengan sistem pemeliharaan secara semi intensif.   Terdapat total 25 ekor sapi potong yang terdiri dari 4 jantan dan 21 betina.   Pengambilan caplak dilakukan secara manual dengan pinset dimulai dari bagian kepala, leher, punggung, perut, selangkangan kaki depan, dan selangkangan kaki belakang.   Caplak yang diidentifikasi adalah Boophilus microplus yang merupakan salah satu spesies caplak dari sub genus Boophilus dengan tingkat prevalensi 92%% dan preferensi tertinggi terdapat pada bagian leher dengan rata-rata 36,5 ekor caplak per sapi.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of fermented azola flour on the performance of KUB (Kampung Unggul IAARD) chickens. This study used 36 KUB chickens aged 4 weeks and were given a treatment ration of up to 4 weeks of maintenance. The research method used was an experimental method with a Complete Random Design (RAL), consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replicates. The therapy is the use of fermented Azolla in rations: A (Commercial Rations + 0% Azolla microphylla fermented in rations), B (Commercial Feed 512 + 5% Azolla microphylla fermented in rations), C (Commercial Feed 512 + 10% Azolla microphylla fermented in rations), and D (Commercial Feed 512 + 15% Azolla microphylla fermented in rations). The variables observed were body weight gain, ration consumption and ration conversion. The results showed that the treatment of fermented azola had an unreal different effect (P>0.05) on body weight gain, ration consumption and ration conversion. This study concludes that the addition of fermented azolla flour in the ration of KUB chickens up to 15% does not have a real effect on body weight gain, ration consumption and conversion of KUB chicken rations (Kampung Unggul Balitbangtan), which can be interpreted as the addition of azolla flour in the ration can replace commercial feed by 15%.

Abstract

Tympani atau kembung rumen merupakan gangguan sistem metabolik yang diakibatkan karena terakumulasinya gas yang berlebihan di dalam rumen. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan peternak terhadap penyakit tympani pada ternak sapi yang dilaksanakan di bulan September 2023 dengan jumlah responden 40 peternak. Analisis data untuk dilakukan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif, yaitu observasi dan survey serta pengisian kuesioner untuk mendapatkan nilai persentase (%) dari tingkat pengetahuan responden terhadap penyakit tympani pada ternak sapi. Data kemudian ditabulasi dan di analisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian pada tingkat pengetahuan peternak (22,5%) responden yang menjawab sangat paham, (48,9%) responden menjawab paham dan (26,3%) menjawab tidak paham terhadap tindakan penanganan penyakit tympani. Berdasarkan hasil ini dapat disimpulkan sebagai besar peternak sapi di wilayah Kecamatan Pintu Rime Gayo Kabupaten Bener Meriah sudah mempunyai pengetahuan yang bagus dalam penanganan penyakit yang disebabkan karena tympani di ternak sapi.

Abstract

Alternative feed is important to consider so that feed production costs can be reduced and income can be increased. Mealworms are a source of animal protein with high nutritional value and a complete amino acid profile, making them an alternative feed source worth considering. However, the incorporation of mealworms into quail diets, particularly in Indonesia, has not been extensively studied, creating a gap that this research aims to address. The purpose of this research was to use mealworms (Tenebrio molitor) as an alternative feed to improve the productivity and egg quality of quail. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. In treatment A, 0% MF was added to the rations; in treatment B, 5% MF was added to the rations; in treatment C, 10% MF was added to the rations; in treatment D, 15% MF was added to the rations; and in treatment E, 20% MF was added to the rations. The parameters observed were the productivity of laying quail (feed consumption, egg weight, egg production, and feed conversion) and the quality of quail eggs (crude protein, crude fat, yolk color, and quail eggshell weight). The results revealed that the addition of mealworm flour to the laying quail rations significantly affected (P<0.05) the feed consumption, egg weight, egg production percentage, and feed conversion of laying quail but did not significantly affect (P>0.05) egg crude protein content, egg crude fat content, yolk color, or eggshell weight. In conclusion, the addition of up to 15% mealworm flour to the laying quail feed mixture did not have a negative effect on quail performance or egg quality, indicating its potential as a sustainable alternative protein source.

Abstract

National food security is a strategic issue that requires support from various sectors, including the livestock sector. However, most smallholder livestock enterprises still face challenges in business management, production efficiency, and sustainable management practices. This community service program aims to provide assistance in sustainable livestock business management as an effort to strengthen national food security. The implementation methods include identifying partners’ problems, conducting training on livestock business management, providing assistance in production management and business record-keeping, and evaluating program sustainability. The target beneficiaries are livestock farmer groups who are expected to improve their knowledge, skills, and independence in managing livestock businesses effectively and sustainably. The results of the program indicate an improvement in partners’ understanding of livestock business management, production planning, and awareness of the importance of business sustainability. This program is expected to make a tangible contribution to strengthening national food security through enhancing the capacity of community-based livestock enterprises.

Abstract

The ban on antibiotic growth promoter (AGP) use has encouraged the development of natural probiotics to improve poultry performance, making it necessary to evaluate the potential of sauerkraut as a probiotic. The objective of this study was to determine the benefits of cabbage fermentation (sauerkraut) as a probiotic source to improve the productivity and meat quality of Pekin ducks. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five levels of sauerkraut probiotic doses in drinking water and four replications for each treatment. The treatments consisted of A (0%), B (1.5%), C (3%), D (4.5%), and E (6%) probiotic sauerkraut in ducks drinking water. The sauerkraut probiotic was produced through cabbage fermentation for seven days under anaerobic conditions. The observed parameters included body weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio, carcass weight and meat quality (pH, water holding capacity and cooking loss). The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance and continued with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test to determine the significance of the differences among treatments. The results showed that the addition of sauerkraut probiotic in the drinking water of Pekin ducks had a significant effect (P<0.05) on body weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio and carcass weight. However, a non significant effect (P>0.05) was observed on meat quality parameters (pH, water holding capacity and cooking loss). It was concluded that the addition of sauerkraut probiotics at the 4.5% level (Treatment D) was the optimal dose.  It was able to improve productivity, with body weight gain of 1733.15 g, feed intake of 3848.30 g, a feed conversion ratio of 2.22, and carcass weight reaching 1299.86 g, without giving negative effects on the meat quality of Pekin ducks, with a meat pH of 6.25, water-holding capacity of 45.55% and cooking loss of 34.61%.
