Abstract

The present and forthcoming educational requirements are focused on enhancing the calibre of cognitive competencies and expertise, in addition to the attitudes, character, and ethics of the Indonesian populace as a whole, to realize the national educational objectives. Early childhood education plays a crucial role in shaping the creative, adaptive, and commendable character of students, thereby contributing significantly to the attainment of national education objectives. Educators hold a significant position in the educational journey of students, particularly in primary education, as they provide guidance and support throughout the learning process. The primary duty of a teacher, as a professional educator, is to instruct, guide, and mentor students towards the development of refined, self-sufficient, and exceptional individuals. Proficiency in imparting educational content to learners is a prerequisite for fulfilling the responsibilities of this position. Hence, in order to optimize their function, an educator must possess comprehension of the four fundamental principles of education. These principles can serve as a framework for structuring educational endeavours within primary school settings. The purpose of this practise is to equip students with the necessary skills and abilities to acquire knowledge in a more comprehensive manner, encompassing cognitive, practical, personal, and social domains. The forthcoming community service initiative is scheduled to take place in June 2023, wherein a cohort of 24 individuals will be engaged in the provision of educational instruction at the Nasyatul Aisyiyah Mungka Kindergarten.

Abstract

The globalization of the Indonesian language through the Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) programme has evolved from a simple linguistic exercise into a sophisticated instrument of cultural diplomacy and international education. As Indonesia's economic and cultural influence grows, more and more international students, researchers, and professionals want to learn the language. The pedagogical challenge in BIPA has transitioned from the acquisition of grammar and vocabulary to the cultivation of sociopragmatic competence. Research highlights a critical realization: the primary obstacle for international students is not necessarily cognitive or linguistic capacity but a lack of understanding regarding the cultural discourse that governs thinking and speaking within the Indonesian context. This suggests that language and culture are inextricably linked, forming a singular nexus where communication only becomes meaningful through the lens of cultural orientation

Abstract

This study explores the use of expressive speech acts and their associated strategies in Prabowo Subianto's speeches during the 2024 presidential election campaign. By analyzing video content from YouTube channels such as KOMPASTV, Bisnis.com, Warta Kota Production, and Liputan6, the research identifies the forms and strategies of expressive speech acts employed. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive methodology, the study follows a four-stage process: transcription, classification, analysis, and conclusion. Findings reveal seven forms of expressive speech acts: thanking, complaining, congratulating, flattering, praising, blaming, and criticizing. These forms reflect nuanced aspects of interpersonal and political communication. The strategies identified include straightforward approaches without pleasantries, those incorporating positive politeness, strategies with negative politeness, and shared speech approaches. The research highlights the role of expressive speech acts in shaping political narratives and fostering connections with the electorate during campaign discourse. This study contributes to the understanding of pragmatic strategies in political communication and their influence on public engagement

The analyzed data consists of a video episode titled  Politics Uhuy: Komeng’s Secret to Getting to Senayan,” uploaded by the Rosi Kompas TV YouTube Channel on February 22, 2024. The video, lasting 1 hour and 3 minutes, had  pproximately 3 million views. For data analysis, the study applies Astuti's framework on forms of humor discourse alongside Wijana and Rohmadi's theories on humor  ontext. The results reveal multiple forms of humor in the episode, including educational, political, household, family, ethnic, and religious humor. Notably, no sexual or  romantic humor was observed. The qualitative discourse analysis explores how humor conveys criticism, reflects social realities, and engages with the audience. Findings indicate a predominance of political humor, suggesting that humor is a critical tool for discussing political issues. Also, humor connects with the audience by referencing cultural elements and social values. Contextual analysis reveals that humor functions as entertainment and an effective medium for delivering social and political messages.

Abstract

This research delves into the linguistic intricacies of Tansi, a regional language spoken in Sawahlunto, West Sumatra, Indonesia. Sawahlunto, a city with a rich cultural tapestry and complex social dynamics, serves as a fascinating case study for examining how language evolves and diversifies within a specific geographical context. This study investigates the variations in Tansi language, focusing on usage patterns and levels of formality, as influenced by the city's diverse population. Through a qualitative descriptive approach, the research meticulously documents and analyzes conversational data from various social settings, including interactions among students, market traders, and local youth. Data collection methods involved non-participatory observation and detailed audio recordings, allowing for a nuanced understanding of linguistic practices in situ. The findings reveal significant variations in Tansi language, shaped by both the context of use and the degree of formality required in different social interactions. Geographical diversity emerges as a critical factor driving these linguistic differences, as residents from various regions bring distinct linguistic influences into the local vernacular. This study not only sheds light on the dynamic linguistic landscape of Sawahlunto but also contributes to broader discussions on language variation and social interaction within regional communities. The research underscores the importance of considering geographic and social variables in the study of language, offering new insights into the complex mechanisms of linguistic adaptation and evolution in culturally rich environments.
