Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of the traditional rope jumping game in stimulating the development of gross motor skills and social skills of early childhood at Kiddi Care Kindergarten. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through direct observation and interviews with accompanying teachers. The results of the observation indicate that the rope jumping game can enhance children's motor coordination, balance, agility, and muscle strength, which are crucial components of gross motor development. In addition, this game also strengthens children's abilities in concentration, discipline, and cooperation. Children appear enthusiastic, can follow the rules, and show positive social interactions during the activity. Interviews with teachers support these findings, where teachers state that the rope jumping game is an effective means of training physical skills while shaping children's character. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the traditional rope jumping game is a worthy addition to early childhood learning as a fun and holistic educational medium.

Abstract

This study investigates how puzzle games affect the fine motor development of young children. This study uses a quantitative approach and a quasi-experimental design. The study involved 30 children aged between 4 and 6 years who were divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received an intervention in the form of puzzle-playing activities for four weeks, with an interval of two to three times a week. On the other hand, the control group did not receive any special treatment for routine learning activities. To collect data, standardized fine motor skills test instruments were used. These included eye-hand coordination, finger movement control, precision, and the ability to assemble and copy shapes. A t-test was used to analyze the data to determine the difference in results between the two groups. The results of the study showed that the experimental group and the control group differed significantly. Compared to children who did not receive treatment, children who were involved in puzzle-playing activities showed greater improvement in all fine motor indicators. The results show that puzzle games can be used effectively as a learning tool to help the fine motor development of early childhood develop well.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of play environment on the social-emotional maturity of children aged 3–5 years in childcare centers. The research employed a quantitative survey method involving 60 children as samples. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations, then analyzed using correlation and simple linear regression tests. The results indicate that the play environment has a positive and significant effect on children’s social-emotional maturity. A safe, supportive play environment equipped with adequate facilities and responsive caregivers helps children develop social interaction skills, emotional regulation, and empathy. These findings emphasize the importance of improving the quality of play environments in childcare centers to support early childhood social-emotional development. The practical implication of this study is the need for optimal management of play environments and caregiver training as part of efforts to enhance early childhood education quality.
