Abstract

Desa Kemuning Muda di Kecamatan Bunga Raya, Kabupaten Siak, Riau, merupakan daerah dengan produksi padi yang melimpah. Dalam proses penggilingan, dedak padi dihasilkan sebagai limbah, tetapi belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal oleh masyarakat. Selain itu, beberapa warga desa melakukan budidaya ikan, termasuk ikan lele, yang terkendala oleh tingginya biaya pakan yang mencapai 60-70% dari biaya produksi. Pemanfaatan dedak padi sebagai pakan lele menawarkan solusi untuk mengurangi biaya produksi sekaligus mengelola limbah pertanian. Pembuatan pakan melibatkan alat sederhana, seperti panci dan kompor, serta bahan-bahan seperti dedak halus, pelet, ikan asin halus, garam, minyak, dan air. Prosesnya dimulai dengan mencampur pelet yang telah dilelehkan dalam air panas dengan dedak halus, minyak, garam, dan ikan asin. Adonan kemudian dibentuk menjadi pelet kecil dan dikeringkan di bawah sinar matahari agar awet. Pakan lele juga dapat dibuat menggunakan metode fermentasi dengan menambahkan pupuk organik cair mikroorganisme (EM4). Bahan kering dicampurkan terlebih dahulu, kemudian larutan EM4 ditambahkan dan diaduk hingga merata. Proses fermentasi dilakukan selama 3-5 hari. Pakan alternatif ini siap digunakan dan menawarkan manfaat bagi pembudidaya lele dalam mengurangi biaya serta meningkatkan keberlanjutan lingkungan.

Abstract

Rapid technological advancements necessitate that educators constantly adjust to new advances, such as the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and information technology in the classroom. The fact remains that many educators are still not accustomed to incorporating technology into their lessons. By promoting the use of AI as a learning aid and adopting IT-based learning, this community service project seeks to improve the knowledge and abilities of SMPN 11 Pekanbaru instructors. The Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method was used in the activity, which was conducted as a workshop with materials, discussions, and practical application. A variety of applications that can aid in the learning process were presented to the teachers. The activity's outcomes demonstrated a rise in teachers' technological knowledge and proficiency as well as the appearance of motivation to innovate in the classroom. Teachers can better prepare for the difficulties of teaching in the digital age by starting with this activity.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani di Desa Sungai Majo, Kecamatan Kubu, Kabupaten Rokan Hilir dalam mengenali serta menangani gejala defisiensi unsur hara pada tanaman kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.). Metode pelaksanaan mencakup ceramah, diskusi interaktif, demonstrasi lapangan, dan evaluasi berbasis pre-test serta post-test. Materi penyuluhan difokuskan pada identifikasi gejala kekurangan unsur hara esensial seperti N, P, K, Mg, dan B serta penerapan prinsip pemupukan berimbang. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan petani sebesar 80% dalam mengenali gejala defisiensi antar unsur hara. Pendekatan partisipatif mendorong peningkatan literasi agronomi dan kesadaran terhadap pentingnya pengelolaan hara berkelanjutan serta pengendalian organisme pengganggu tanaman secara ramah lingkungan. Melalui kolaborasi antara akademisi dan masyarakat, kegiatan ini berhasil memperkuat kapasitas petani menuju sistem pertanian yang adaptif, efisien, dan berkelanjutan, sehingga petani mampu mengetahui gejala defisiensi unsur hara yang terdapat pada tanaman kelapa sawit di Desa Sungai Majo, Kecamatan Kubu, Kabupaten Rokan Hilir.

Abstract

This extension activity was carried out in Sungai Majo Village, Kubu Sub-district, Rokan Hilir Regency with the objective of enhancing the knowledge and skills of oil palm farmers in recognizing nutrient deficiency symptoms and implementing strategies for plant pest organism control. The methods applied included lectures, participatory discussions, and field demonstrations. The materials delivered covered the identification of nutrient deficiency symptoms of both macro and micro elements, such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), magnesium (Mg), and boron (B), along with their implications for plant growth and productivity. In addition, information was provided on common PPOs found in oil palm plantations and appropriate control techniques based on the principles of integrated crop management. The evaluation results showed an increase in farmers' understanding of nutrient deficiency symptoms from 30% before the activity to 75% after the activity, as well as an increase in understanding of OPT control from 40% to 70%. More than 80% of participants were able to independently identify symptoms of K and Mg deficiencies, and 75% of participants understood balanced fertilization techniques according to recommendations. Farmers also became more capable of recognizing pest attacks and understood environmentally friendly control alternatives, including mechanical, cultural, and biological approaches. Overall, this activity contributed to strengthening farmers’ capacity in sustainable oil palm management.

Abstract

Butterfly pea (Clitoria ternatea) is a plant that provides various health benefits due to its pharmacologically active compounds. Nevertheless, the community’s limited knowledge and skills in utilizing and processing butterfly pea into herbal tea bags underline the importance of this community service activity. Processing butterfly pea into herbal tea serves as an effective approach to make its health benefits more accessible for daily use. This program aimed to enhance community knowledge about the health properties of butterfly pea, improve their skills in producing herbal tea bags, and encourage its development as a household-scale product with market potential, given its simple and low-cost processing method. The target beneficiaries were residents of Dayang Suri Village, Bunga Raya Subdistrict, Siak Regency with 55 participants. Program achievements were measured by determining the increased knowledge and skills in processing butterfly pea into herbal tea bags, as well as growing interest in its commercialization. Pre- and post-test results demonstrated a significant improvement in participants’ average scores from 45% to 87%, with a statistically significant paired t-test result (α=0.05).
