Abstract

The use of local ameliorants has the potential to be an effective solution in improving the quality of post-tin mining soil that is poor in nutrients and has a coarse texture. This study aims to analyze the effect of oil palm bunch ash, coconut shell ash, and chicken manure on the germination of two kale varieties (Nemo and Nita) in degraded media. The study used a two-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) at the Precision Agriculture Laboratory of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic. The parameters observed included plumule length, radicle, fresh weight of seedlings, fresh weight of roots, and dry weight of roots. The results showed that the percentage and germination capacity did not differ significantly between treatments. However, radicle length, fresh weight, and dry weight of seedlings showed a significant effect, with the best response achieved by the coconut shell ash and oil palm bunch ash treatments. Local ameliorants also caused positive changes in soil physical properties, especially in the color and texture of the media. In conclusion, local ameliorants proved effective in improving the initial conditions of post-mining soil and successfully supported kale germination.

Abstract

Arts and crafts learning in elementary schools (ES) is often considered less interesting due to the minimal use of interactive learning media, resulting in low student interest and understanding. This community service program aims to improve the quality of arts learning and student skills through training in making flowers from wire feathers as a creative and applicable medium. The method used is a participatory approach through socialization, demonstrations, direct practice, and mentoring for teachers. This activity was carried out from November - December 2025. The results of the activity showed an increase in student creativity, skills, and interest in learning. In addition, this provided innovation in developing interesting and contextual learning media. This activity also instilled the value of sustainability by utilizing simple, environmentally friendly materials. Overall, this community service had a positive impact in creating more interactive, enjoyable, and meaningful arts learning for students elementary schools (ES).

Abstract

The rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has encouraged the adoption of automated systems in aquaculture to improve feed management efficiency. However, conventional fish feeding practices still rely on manual labor and grid-based electricity, leading to inefficiencies and sustainability concerns. This study aims to design and implement an IoT-based Smart Feeder powered by solar energy as an automated and environmentally friendly solution for fish farming. The system employs an ESP32 microcontroller as the main processing unit, an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor for feed-level detection, a servo motor and blower as feed distribution actuators, and an off-grid photovoltaic system consisting of a 100 Wp solar panel, a solar charge controller, and a battery for energy storage. The IoT system is integrated with a Flutter-based mobile application that serves as a user interface for remote monitoring and control via Firebase Realtime Database. System testing was conducted in a controlled environment, focusing on feed distribution performance, sensor accuracy, and solar energy system performance. The results indicate that the ultrasonic sensor achieved an accuracy of ±2 cm across three feed-level conditions. The system was able to distribute feed ranging from 220 to 550 grams with a throwing distance of 115–330 cm, depending on operation duration and pellet size. The solar panel generated a voltage of 20.3–21.2 V and supported autonomous system operation. These findings demonstrate the potential of integrating IoT and renewable energy to enhance automated fish feeding systems, although further testing in real pond environments is required

Abstract

Rice is a very important and strategic commodity because it is the main source of carbohydrates for the community. Therefore, an increase in rice production is urgently needed. Swampland is considered a potential option to support food self-sufficiency, given the various advantages it has. One of the main advantages is the availability of abundant water, which is crucial in supporting plant growth, especially in uncertain climatic conditions. Fertilizer is one of the key factors in rice farming. Nitrogen (N) is one of the most important nutrients and should be available to plants. Foliar nutrition can generally increase grain yield while reducing the amount of fertilizer administered through soil application. The purpose of this study is to obtain the concentration and intensity of foliar urea application that is most effective in supporting the growth and yield of rice cultivated in swampland. The experiment was carried out using a complete group random design (RAKL) with a factorial design involving 2 factors and 3 replicates. The first factor is the concentration of urea solution, which consists of 4 levels, namely 3%, 6%, 9%, and 12%. The second factor is the intensity of the application which consists of 3 levels, namely 2 mst, 2 mst, and 4 mst, as well as 2 mst, 4 mst, and 6 mst.

Abstract

Lahan kering umumnya memiliki pH masam, kandungan bahan organik rendah, serta ketersediaan unsur hara yang terbatas, sehingga produktivitasnya belum optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh pemberian hidrogel berbahan limbah daun nanas yang diperkaya Pseudomonas fluorescens terhadap perubahan sifat kimia tanah di lahan kering. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan tiga perlakuan, yaitu tanpa hidrogel (kontrol), hidrogel + P. fluorescens, dan hidrogel tanpa bakteri, masing-masing diulang empat kali. Parameter yang diamati meliputi pH tanah, C-organik, N-total, P₂O₅ tersedia, kation basa (K, Ca, Mg, Na), kapasitas tukar kation (KTK), kejenuhan basa, serta Al³⁺ dan H⁺ yang dapat ditukar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan hidrogel + P. fluorescens memberikan perbaikan paling signifikan dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya, ditandai dengan peningkatan pH dari 5,85 menjadi 6,15, C-organik dari 2,45% menjadi 4,06%, N-total dari 0,13% menjadi 0,33%, dan P₂O₅ dari 10,86 ppm menjadi 17,60 ppm. Selain itu, terjadi peningkatan KTK dan kejenuhan basa serta penurunan Al³⁺ dan H⁺ yang dapat ditukar. Temuan ini menunjukkan adanya sinergi antara fungsi hidrogel sebagai sumber bahan organik dan peran bakteri dalam meningkatkan ketersediaan hara serta menekan kemasaman tanah. Dengan demikian, kombinasi hidrogel limbah daun nanas dan P. fluorescens berpotensi menjadi strategi bioameliorasi yang ramah lingkungan untuk rehabilitasi lahan kering.

Abstract

Kiambang is an aquatic weed commonly found in Indonesian waters. Kiambang extract contains secondary metabolite compounds that have the potential to inhibit the growth of billygoat weed (Ageratum conyzoides), which is commonly found in agricultural and plantation areas. This study was conducted to determine the potential of kiambang extract as a bioherbicide against billygoat weed. The study employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of five concentrations of kiambang extract, namely 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80%, with four replications. The observed parameters included weed mortality percentage, weed height, and bioherbicide efficacy. A significant effect on bioherbicide efficacy was first observed at a concentration of 40%, resulting in an efficacy value of 7.18%, while the highest efficacy was achieved at 60% concentration (42.46%). Meanwhile, significant effects on weed mortality percentage and weed height were observed starting at a concentration of 60%. Kiambang extract can be utilized as a contact bioherbicide for controlling billygoat weed, commonly found in agricultural and plantation areas.

Abstract

West Bangka Regency has significant potential from its local avocado accession, Muhfud, which has been cultivated and adapted to local agroecological conditions for decades. However, this accession has not been registered as a variety, rendering it vulnerable to genetic erosion and misappropriation. This study aimed to characterize the morphological traits of Muhfud avocado accession from West Bangka Regency as a step toward preserving local germplasm. Qualitative and quantitative morphological observations were performed on vegetative, generative, and fruit traits. The study was conducted from August to October 2025, employing purposive sampling on five trees, including the original parent tree. Characterization followed the descriptor for avocado, encompassing tree organs, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds. The results indicate that Muhfud accession exhibits distinctive morphological features, such as a semi-circular tree architecture, type B flowering, a clavate fruit shape with buttery-smooth, doughy texture, and fruits that are longer with thinner skin compared to other local varieties such as Muntok accession. Variations in mean values and standard deviations of quantitative morphological characters (particularly fruit weight of 358.40 ± 29.04 g, tree height of 5.90 ± 2.32 m, and stem circumference of 70.12 ± 26.67 cm for Muhfud accession) suggest strong genetic potential and adaptation to the local agroecological conditions of West Bangka Regency. These characteristics support the development of locally adapted, productive, and storage-resilient superior varieties. In conclusion, the findings contribute to germplasm conservation efforts and the advancement of local avocado breeding programs in tropical Indonesia.

Abstract

Selada (Lactuca sativa) merupakan tanaman hortikultura yang dikonsumsi secara global, baik di iklim sub-tropis maupun tropis dan menjadi salah satu jenis tanaman sayuran yang bernilai ekonomi tinggi. Idealnya semua benih harus memiliki kekuatan tumbuh yang tinggi, sehingga bila ditanam pada kondisi lapangan yang beraneka ragam akan tetap tumbuh sehat dan kuat serta berproduksi tinggi dengan kualitas baik. Kemunduran suatu benih dapat diterangkan sebagai turunnya kualitas atau viabilitas benih yang mengakibatkan rendahnya vigor dan jeleknya pertumbuhan tanaman serta produksi. Salah satu cara untuk mempercepat perkecambahan benih adalah pemberian zat pengatur tumbuh (ZPT). Bahan alami yang dapat digunakan sebagai substitusi ZPT diantaranya adalah air kelapa. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Pertanian Presisi, Politeknik Manufaktur Negeri Bangka Belitung pada bulan Februari sampai dengan bulan Maret 2025, menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) satu faktor dengan 4 perlakuan yaitu : Akuades, Air kelapa 50%, Air kelapa 75% dan Air kelapa 100%. Variabel pengamatan yang dilakukan adalah sebagai berikut : persentase perkecambahan, indeks kecepatan perkecambahan, waktu rata-rata perkecambahan, panjang plumula, panjang radikula, berat basah dan berat kering. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa perendaman air kelapa berpengaruh terhadap perkecambahan benih selada. Pengaplikasian terbaik diperoleh pada konsentrasi 50%.

Abstract

Lahan rawa memiliki potensi besar untuk pengembangan padi, namun efisiensi pemupukan nitrogen pada kondisi tersebut relatif rendah akibat berbagai proses kehilangan hara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh dosis dan interval aplikasi larutan urea melalui daun terhadap dinamika serapan nitrogen pada tanaman padi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Sosio-Ekonomi Pertanian Universitas PGRI Silampari, dan analisis N dilakukan di Laboratorium Ilmu Tanah Unib. Percobaan menggunakan rancangan faktorial dalam (RAKL) dengan dua faktor dan tiga ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah dosis larutan urea (3%, 6%, 9%, dan 12%), sedangkan faktor kedua adalah interval aplikasi (1, 2, dan 3 kali). Perlakuan kontrol aplikasi urea 200 kg/ha yang ditebar di lahan rawa. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji F dan dilanjutkan dengan DMRT 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan dosis dan interval aplikasi urea secara foliar berpengaruh nyata terhadap serapan nitrogen pada akar, batang, dan gabah. Dosis 12% menghasilkan serapan N tertinggi, yaitu 169,53 mg/tanaman pada akar, 417,22 mg/tanaman pada batang, dan 430,01 mg/tanaman pada gabah. Sementara itu, interval aplikasi 3 kali memberikan serapan N tertinggi, yaitu 150,56 mg/tanaman pada akar, 400,41 mg/tanaman pada batang, dan 516,94 mg/tanaman pada gabah. Aplikasi urea melalui daun terbukti lebih efektif dibandingkan aplikasi melalui tanah, yang menunjukkan serapan nitrogen terendah pada seluruh parameter.
