Abstract

Introduction: Female Genital Tuberculosis (FGTB) is a rare but serious form of extrapulmonary tuberculosis that significantly impacts female reproductive health. It accounts for 15–20% of extrapulmonary TB cases and is found in 5–10% of infertile women. Diagnosis is often delayed due to nonspecific symptoms and the difficulty of confirming infection through histopathology. Case Presentation: A 35-year-old woman presented with abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, vaginal discharge, and postcoital bleeding. A cervical biopsy confirmed tuberculous cervicitis, supported by systemic TB symptoms and a left pleural effusion, leading to a diagnosis of extrapulmonary TB. She was treated with a full course of anti-TB therapy and referred for fertility evaluation due to persistent amenorrhea, where hysteroscopy revealed intrauterine adhesions and granulomas, confirming suspected genital TB and suggesting Asherman’s syndrome as a complication. Conclusion: Female Genital Tuberculosis is a rare cause of infertility; early diagnosis using integrative methods and awareness of genital TB transmission are essential for timely treatment and improved reproductive outcomes.

Abstract

Background: Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA) is a congenital heart defect affected by an embryological misalignment between the aorta and pulmonary trunk. Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries (CCTGA) or L-TGA, accounts for less than 1 % of congenital cardiac disease cases. This report presents the case of a pregnant woman with a history of CCTGA who successfully delivered an infant. Case illustration: A 32-year-old woman presented with vaginal bleeding at 30-32 weeks of gestation and a history of CC-TGA. Her medical history included CCTGA, ventricular septal defect (VSD) without pulmonary stenosis, prior molar pregnancy curettage, breech fetal position, moderate acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and low body mass index (BMI 16.6 kg/m²). She was classified as WHO Cardiac Risk Class IV due to the high risk of maternal mortality. Following corticosteroid administration for fetal lung maturation and multidisciplinary evaluation, a planned cesarean section was performed at 30 weeks. A male infant was delivered, weighing 1,480 grams, measuring 41 cm in length, with Apgar scores of 7 and 9, and a Ballard score of 18. Conclusion: Early risk assessment, multidisciplinary collaboration, and individualized management are pivotal in reducing maternal and fetal morbidity in patients with CC-TGA.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of therapeutic communication in increasing pregnant women's trust in antenatal care (ANC) services at Patut Patuh Patju Hospital, West Lombok Regency. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive-analytical approach through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The results of the study showed that therapeutic communication of medical personnel was carried out using simple language, empathetic attitudes, two-way communication, friendly approaches, and emotional support. These factors have been shown to be effective in creating comfort, reducing anxiety, and strengthening the active involvement of pregnant women in health checkups. In addition, support from family, peer groups, and sensitivity to local culture also strengthened pregnant women's trust in medical services. This study confirms that therapeutic communication is not only a medium for delivering medical information but also an important strategy in building a relationship of mutual trust that contributes to the compliance of pregnant women undergoing ANC examinations. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for health workers and policymakers in improving the quality of antenatal services based on empathic communication, trust, and social support.

Abstract

Breastfeeding is the best strategy to ensure optimal growth and development for infants. Social support, fatigue, and stress are the main factors that hinder breastfeeding for primiparous mothers. This cross-sectional study analyzes husband support and coping stress of exclusive breastfeeding for primiparous mothers with a quantitative approach. The samples were 70 respondents taken with a total sampling technique. The research instruments were the husband support questionnaire and coping strategies inventory. The researchers analyzed the data with chi-square and multiple logistic regression. The results found 48 (68.5%) mothers with excellent husband support and exclusive breastfeeding. Meanwhile, mothers with excellent husband support but without exclusive breastfeeding were 18 respondents (25.71%). The results of statistical tests with a significance level of 5% obtained a sig value (p-value) of husband support (p=0.002) and coping stress p=0.000. The result indicates a correlation between husband support and coping stress on exclusive breastfeeding with OR value = (3.667). On the other hand, mothers with excellent husband support could provide exclusive breastfeeding 4 times higher than those with poor husband support. Husband support and coping stress affect exclusive breastfeeding of primiparous mothers in the employed area of Puskesmas Dinoyo Malang City. Coping stress is the dominant factor influencing exclusive breastfeeding in primiparous mothers in the employing area of Puskesmas Dinoyo Malang City. The research recommends public health centers improve programs that support maternal care in helping to improve skills in managing stress, on exclusive breastfeeding both at the public health center, the integrated public health service, and the auxiliary health center.

Abstract

This study investigates the correlation between the quality of prenatal care and pregnancy outcomes through a comprehensive literature review. The systematic literature review aims to elucidate the relationship between prenatal care quality and pregnancy outcomes while identifying key factors influencing care quality. Relevant studies were identified through an extensive search of databases, including Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and PubMed, using specific keywords related to antenatal care quality, serum levels, and pregnancy outcomes. Articles published within the last ten years were screened based on inclusion criteria, resulting in 12 original studies selected for detailed analysis. The findings reveal a statistically significant correlation between prenatal care quality and pregnancy outcomes. Inadequate prenatal care was associated with a higher risk of preterm birth, low birth weight, and complications during delivery. Socioeconomic factors such as income level, education, and access to healthcare services were identified as critical determinants of prenatal care quality. This study highlights the urgent need to enhance the accessibility, continuity, and quality of prenatal care to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity, particularly in resource-limited settings. Policy implications suggest the necessity of targeted interventions to address disparities in prenatal care, including improving healthcare infrastructure, training healthcare providers, and implementing community-based programs. In conclusion, the study underscores the pivotal role of high-quality antenatal care in ensuring favorable pregnancy outcomes. Tackling socioeconomic barriers and enhancing service delivery are crucial to reducing adverse outcomes and promoting maternal and child health. The findings call for policy reforms to strengthen antenatal care services, especially in underserved regions, to achieve better health outcomes for mothers and infants.

Abstract

Good breastfeeding competence can help the baby get enough calories to increase the baby's weight. The Family-Center Approach (FCA) model is a method that emphasizes family support to assist mothers to increase breastfeeding competence in primiparous mothers who have no previous breastfeeding experience. This research aimed to analyze the effect of FCA on increasing the competence of primiparous mothers in increasing baby weight. This study used a quasy experiment with a pretest-posttest with a control group design on 34 respondents who were divided into 2 groups (17 respondents in the mother group with high breastfeeding competence and 17 respondents in the mother group with low breastfeeding competence). The sample in this study was primiparous mothers who had babies aged 0-6 months in the working area of the Dinoyo Health Center, Malang City. The results from this research using the Wilcoxon Test followed by the Mann-Whitney Test showed p= 0.000 (0.000 < 0.05), this shows that the highest increase in baby weight was in the group of mothers with high breastfeeding competence (mean rank 25.3) compared to the group of mothers with low breastfeeding competence (mean rank 9.7). FCA can increase the competence of primiparous mothers in breastfeeding. This was accompanied by a higher increase in baby weight compared to the comparison group.

Abstract

This systematic literature review evaluates the relationship between CA-125 immunohistochemical expression in ovarian epithelial tumors and serum CA-125 levels as diagnostic indicators. Five studies meeting inclusion criteria from 20,500 initially identified articles consistently demonstrated significant positive correlations between tissue expression intensity and serum concentrations. Key findings reveal that elevated preoperative serum levels correspond directly with increased tissue expression intensity, while combined assessment improves diagnostic accuracy. Both parameters effectively predict early recurrence in advanced-stage (III/IV) disease and show distinct variation across histological subtypes, with mucinous carcinomas exhibiting the lowest expression levels. However, methodological limitations, including heterogeneous study designs, varying immunohistochemical techniques, and restricted sample sizes, affect generalizability. Clinical implications support integrating tissue immunohistochemistry with serum measurements and complementary biomarkers like HE4 for enhanced subtype differentiation. Future multicenter prospective studies with standardized protocols are recommended to establish definitive cut-off values and long-term prognostic significance. These findings underscore CA-125’s enduring clinical value while emphasizing that optimal diagnostic performance requires contextual interpretation alongside other markers, histological classification, and comprehensive patient assessment. The systematic PRISMA-guided approach ensured rigorous evidence synthesis, highlighting CA-125’s crucial role in addressing ovarian cancer’s significant global burden through improved early detection strategies.
