This study aims to identify the role of Muhammadiyah's higher-educational institutions in fostering religious tolerance in West Papua. Applying the qualitative method, this research is conducted in three MuhamÂÂÂmaÂdiyah higher-educational institutions in West Papua i.e., Universitas MuhamÂmadiyah Sorong (UM Sorong) Sorong City, UniÂversitas Pendidikan MuhamÂmadiyah Sorong (UNIMUDA) Sorong Regency, and Sekolah Tinggi Keguruan dan Ilmu PenÂdidikan (STKIP) MuhamÂmaÂdiyah ManokÂwari. The results showed that MuhamÂmaÂdiyah’s higher-educational institutions are inclusive in terms of spiritual understanding. In fostering religious tolerance there are three approaches taken by the three Muhammadiyah higher-educational institutions in West Papua: 1) social approach, 2) cultural approach, and 3) excellent service approaches. The strategies implemented the role includes: 1) dissemÂinaÂting MuhamÂmadiyah’s vision and mission, 2) inculcating tolerance values since the beginning of students joining MuhamÂmadiyah higher-educational institutions, 3) strengthening tolerance value by lecturing processes, conducting, sharing sessions both formally and informally, and 4) empowering student activity units and other facilities that support multicultural student interaction processes.

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat dalam bentuk seminar dengan tema “Greenschool: Sekolah Peduli Lingkungan Hijau Untuk Siswa SMA/SMA dan SMP di Kelurahan Malagusa Distrik Aimas Kabupaten Sorong” di aula SMA Negeri 2 Kabupaten Sorong bertujuan agar memberikan pengetahuan kepada siswa SMA/SMK dan SMP tentang perlunya kesadaran untuk menjaga lingkungan sekitar dari kerusakan yang dapat mereka mulai dari lingkungan sekolah. Dengan demikian, siswa dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam terbentuknya sekolah hijau (greenschool) di sekolah mereka masing-masing. Metode yang digunakan untuk mendukung keberhasilan program adalah (a) Ceramah dan Tanya Jawab. Metode ini dipilih untuk membangkitkan motivasi siswa untuk menjaga lingkungan yang dimulai dari lingkungan sekolah dan mejelaskan materi yang bersifat teoritik terkait dengan peraturan pemerintah tentang sekolah Adiwiyata dan langkah-langkah pengelolaan sampah yang benar. (b) Demontrasi. Metode ini dipilih untuk menjelaskan bagaimana pengeloaan sampah yang benar dan perbedaan antara sampah yang dapat didaur ulang dan tidak dapat didaur ulang lagi. Selain itu, penggunaan tempat minum yang tepat untuk menghindari banyaknya sampah yang dihasilkan dari tempat minuman kemasan sekali pakai. Adapun hasil yang dapat dicapai setelah pelaksanaan PKM ini adalah sebagai berikut: (1) Kegiatan PKM ini berlangsung baik dan lancar serta mendapat apresiasi yang tinggi dari pemerintah daerah. (2) Kegiatan PKM dalam bentuk seminar ini mampu meningkatkan motivasi dan kesadaran siswa dalam menjaga lingkungan sekolah sehingga terwujud sekolah peduli lingkungan (greenschool). (3) Kegiatan PKM yang diselenggarakan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan dan pengetahuan siswa tentang greenschool.

The purpose of the service to high school/vocational high school, and junior high school students in malagusa Village, Aimas Distric, Sorong Regency is to provide knowledge and understanding to students about waste and plastic waste, types of plastic waste, the solution ecosystem. The method used is a lecture and demonstration method with sxhool students in Kelurahan Malagusa about waste and its handling. The results of the implementation of this community service where students attending Malagusa Village were(1) appreciation of the local government in this case the Malagusa village Government in this case the Malagusa Government regarding the seminar activities carried out (2) the high motivation of the community service seminar participant coming from Vocational, high school and junior high school students the whole village of Malagusa with liveliness asking questions at the discussion session guided by the activity organizing committee. (3) Increaasing students’ understanding, knowledge and ability in understanding about waste and increasing waste for the environment.

The purpose of this research is to present the reader with an overview of students’ understanding of the use of listening journal (LJ) media in the development of students’ listening ability. The researcher employs descriptive qualitative techniques and collects data via the use of questionnaires and interviews. The participants in this research were thirty students from the fourth semester of the English Education Department at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong. Due to the implementation of LJ practice, participants must watch videos of a speaker’s narrative of information to complete the process. Then, start with constructing and summarizing the elements that will be included in the LJ template. Findings from this research include the capacity of students to complete LJ and the hurdles they face. First and importantly, the findings show that certain students’ abilities, such as listening, pronunciation, vocabulary, and English speaking have improved. The second result is that there were hurdles to finished LJ, such as difficulty completed LJ, pronunciation that was too fast, an accent, and a video that is much too lengthy in duration. In order for the findings guide to future researchers who want to investigate the same research topic in greater depth using various samples and tools. Background: Artikel ini merupakan Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat dalam bentuk seminar dengan tema “Gawai dan Generasi Milenial untuk Siswa SMA/SMK dan SMP di Kelurahan Malagusa Distrik Aimas Kabupaten Sorong” yang bertujuan untuk menciptakan generasi bijak dalam penggunana gawai dan mampu menciptakan peluang-peluang baru. Metode: Teknik yang digunakan untuk mendukung keberhasilan program yaitu ceramah dan diskusi grup. Pendekatan ini dipilih untuk memberikan pemahaman mengenai dampak penggunaan gawai dan mengidentifikasi permasalahan siswa ketika proses tanya jawab kemudian mencoba memberikan solusi. Hasil: Adapun hasil kegiatan pelaksanaan seminar kepada siswa-siswa SMP dan SMA/SMK di lingkungan kelurahan Malagusa menghasilkan beberapa poin yang menjadi indikator capaian pada aspek pengetahuan yang diharapkan pemateri pada saat sebelum dan sesudah melakukan penyuluhan, diantaranya: (1) Pengetahuan Dampak Positif; (2) Pengetahuan Dampak Negatif; (3) Pengendalian Diri Penggunaan Gawai, terlihat terdapat peningkatan signifikan pemahaman 50% lebih terhadap materi yang diberikan tim. Kesimpulan: serta pentingnya kesinambungan kegiatan serupa yang lebih besar sehingga pengoptimalan penggunaan gawai dalam membantu kegiatan belajar-mengajar siswa akan lebih efektif.

This research is aimed to conduct research about using Group Investigation Method to improve students’ speaking ability. Therefore, the researcher observed in English Department of Sorong Muhammadiyah University. The researcher uses quantitative method and the design of this research used pre-experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample of this research was taken from third semester of class C in Teacher and Trainning Education Faculty in English Department of Sorong Muhammadiyah University. The sample was taken with randomized sampling and consisted of 30 students. Based on the result teaching reading used collaborative strategy reading at the second year students of SMP Negeri 1 sorong. The researcher found that the teaching reading using collaborative strategy reading did not give much influence to students reading ability. With the use of Collaborative Strategy Reading in teaching and learning made the students very happy and they think that the strategy of reading was interested in improving the foreign language of them. They gave good response and active in the class. Where the mean score of pre test was 31,67 and the mean score of post test was 46,67 and the t – test was 12.5 and t - table was 1.714. Based on the analysis of the research, Collaborative Strategy Reading,did not give much influence to student reading ability.This statement was proved because in control group students also could improve their reading skill well at the second year students of SMP Negeri 1 Sorong When the t- test was 12.5 more high than t- table was 1.714.Â

The object of this research is describing the students’ perception and to investigate how the students their perception about their teacher in learning process among second grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Al-Amin Sorong. The method of this research was descriptive quantitative, the collect data is analyzed by using Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) version 17. The survey study was conducted to gather data from respondents. There were  31 students as respondents in this study. The instrument is questionnaire. The students’ perception about their teacher academic performance was in high level category. The students have 2 positive perceptions and one negative perception. Positive perception is in teacher knowledge of subject matter and teacher attitude to work. While negative perception is in the teacher’s skill of teaching the subject matter. Generally, the result of the data analysis and testing hypothesis shows that most of the students gave perception toward their teachers’ performance in teaching and learning process.
