Abstract

This research aims to explore the use of Big Book learning media in introducing optical tools to elementary school students. This study uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research. These sources are systematically analyzed to select, explore, evaluate, and synthesize the latest findings. The literature search is estimated to be published from 2020 to 2024. The source of the article searched or selected through an online search with the Google Scholar database uses the keywords "Big Book Learning Media" and "Optical Tools". Based on the results of the description of the literature study regarding the exploration of the use of big book learning media in introducing optical tools effectively increasing students' interest and understanding of the material. With its attractive visualizations and large size, the Big Book makes it easier to convey the concept of complex optical devices, such as microscopes, telescopes, and cameras, to be easier to understand. In addition, its use supports collaborative and interactive learning, thereby increasing the active involvement of students. Although there are several challenges, including limited availability of topics, limited interaction, strategies and integration of digital media and creative creation of Big Books can help optimize their use in learning. Thus, it is hoped that the Big Book can be a very useful tool in science learning, providing a more comprehensive and in-depth learning experience for students.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum, initiated by the Indonesian government, aims to enhance the quality of education by providing flexibility to schools, teachers, and students in the learning process. This article examines the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in primary schools, focusing on the challenges faced and potential solutions. This study employs a literature review approach to analyze policies, official guidelines, and related research. The findings indicate that although the curriculum offers flexibility, there are challenges in teacher readiness, facilities, and understanding its application. This article provides practical recommendations to address these challenges effectively.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of elementary school students’ understanding of science concepts due to the dominance of conventional teaching methods and the limited use of interactive media in the classroom. The study aims to analyze and synthesize the effectiveness of interactive learning media in improving the understanding of science concepts through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The research method followed the PRISMA guidelines and the SPAR-4-SLR framework, with data sources from Google Scholar spanning the years 2022–2026, resulting in 10 articles meeting the inclusion criteria. The results indicate that all studies consistently reported a significant improvement in science concept understanding, evidenced by increases in pretest-posttest scores, statistical test results, and media usability ratings. Media with high interactivity and visualization, such as augmented reality, interactive multimedia, and animated videos, demonstrated optimal effectiveness. Additionally, the effectiveness of the media was influenced by design quality, content appropriateness, and teacher competence. Thus, interactive learning media have proven effective when appropriately integrated into instruction.
