Abstract

Natural daylight plays an essential role in providing visual comfort in office spaces while reducing reliance on artificial lighting, thereby supporting green building principles. This study was conducted at the Jasa Raharja Office in South Jakarta, a building designed in accordance with green building principles and featuring a modern open-plan office layout. The workspace is surrounded by windows that serve as the primary source of daylight, with roller blinds used to regulate daylight penetration. A quantitative approach was employed through field measurements and DIALux Evo simulations to evaluate daylight performance under actual office conditions. Illuminance data were collected at several measurement points and empirically validated against the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). The simulation results indicated an average illuminance of 577 lux with the roller blinds half-open, while field measurements showed an average of 469 lux, yielding an agreement of 81.2%. However, fully exposing the windows without daylight control is not recommended, as it produces an average illuminance of 1,214 lux, which may cause glare and visual fatigue.

Abstract

Abstract: Interior elements are aspects that can shape the atmosphere of a bar & lounge and form the image perceived by its visitors. Bars & lounges have different characteristics from restaurants in general, have different design emphases. The elements of physical and non-physical elements form the atmosphere of space and the perception of visitors. The basic elements forming and filling the space form the atmosphere of a room in a bar & lounge. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method by analyzing through comparisons of data from field observations from 4 different case studies and designer interviews. The building elements in the space are curated through designer interviews to find out the emphasis given in the design, namely shape, texture and lighting, then proceed with analyzing these elements in each case study The results of the study found that the dominant physical elements forming the space were from each of the 4 case studies of bar&loung design. Future research is expected to collect data from visitors to each case study for comparison.
