Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the tahfiz program at SD Muhammadiyah 2 Kota Sorong in fostering students’ worship discipline from the perspective of Imam Al-Ghazali. Specifically, it examines the processes of habituation and supervision, identifies the impact on students’ behavioral transformation, and explores challenges in sustaining discipline between school and home environments. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with teachers, the principal, and Grade V students, as well as documentation of learning and worship activities. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis, including data reduction, coding, categorization, and interpretation to identify key patterns. The findings reveal that the tahfiz program functions as an integrated system combining structured memorization, habituation of religious practices, and continuous supervision. Habituation is implemented through routine worship activities, while supervision is reinforced through monitoring tools such as memorization cards and prayer control books. These processes significantly contribute to students’ behavioral transformation, as reflected in improved punctuality, consistency, motivation, and self-awareness in performing daily prayers. However, the study also identifies challenges in sustaining worship discipline, particularly due to the discontinuity between school and home environments, limited parental involvement, and inconsistent supervision outside school. In conclusion, the tahfiz program effectively supports the internalization of worship discipline when it integrates knowledge, practice, and supervision. However, its sustainability depends on the alignment between school and family environments. Strengthening collaboration between teachers and parents is essential to ensure consistent character development beyond the school context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the cooperative learning model in the subject of Islamic Cultural History (ISH) in class XI of Madrasah Aliyah Roudlotul Khuffadz, and to identify opportunities and obstacles in its implementation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation with research subjects consisting of the principal of the madrasah, ISH teachers, and students. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions using triangulation techniques to ensure data validity. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the cooperative learning model has run quite well and is able to increase the activeness, understanding, and social interaction of students in learning. This model also provides opportunities to develop cooperation, communication, and student responsibility. However, there are still obstacles such as differences in student abilities, unequal participation in groups, limited learning time, and suboptimal classroom management. The conclusion of this study shows that cooperative learning is an effective learning model, but requires good management to provide maximum results in the learning process.

Abstract

Learning in Islamic Religious Education at the senior high school level is frequently characterized by teacher-centered instructional practices that may limit students’ engagement, learning motivation, and academic achievement. Although mindfulness-based learning has been widely discussed in educational research, empirical evidence regarding its implementation in Islamic Religious Education remains limited, particularly at the senior high school level in Indonesia. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effectiveness of mindfulness-based learning in improving students’ learning motivation and academic achievement in Islamic Religious Education at SMA GUPPI Salawati, Sorong Regency. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The participants consisted of all 33 eleventh-grade students, who were grouped into an experimental class (n = 16) and a control class (n = 17). Data were collected using a learning motivation questionnaire based on the ARCS model and a cognitive achievement test developed according to Bloom’s Taxonomy and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Mann–Whitney U test. The findings showed that students in the experimental group achieved higher learning motivation (M = 62.94) and learning outcomes (M = 85.63) than students in the control group (M = 33.41; M = 65.29), with statistically significant differences (p < 0.001). The experimental group also demonstrated greater improvement in both variables than the control group. These findings indicate that mindfulness-based learning may serve as an effective instructional approach to support student engagement and improve learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education.

Abstract

The use of artificial intelligence (AI)-based learning media in elementary education continues to develop, but research discussing teacher validation of AI content and the digital literacy of elementary school students remains relatively limited. This study aims to analyze the use of AI-based learning videos in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning, examine teachers’ strategies in validating AI content, and describe the development of students’ digital literacy during the learning process. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design involving one experienced IPAS teacher and 15 students of MI Muhammadiyah 2, Sorong Regency, Southwest Papua. Participants were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, open-ended questionnaires, observation, and document analysis. The results showed that the use of AI-based learning videos was able to increase students’ learning interest, engagement, and understanding of cultural diversity material in IPAS learning. Students gave positive responses to the animated display, audio, and interactive visuals, which made learning more interesting and easier to understand. Nevertheless, some students experienced difficulty following the information because the video transitions were too fast and the visual details were unclear. This study also found that teachers play an important role in validating AI content before it is used in learning by comparing the video material with textbooks and various other official sources. In addition, the use of AI-based videos began to train students’ digital literacy through the ability to ask questions and re-question information obtained from digital media. The conclusion of this study affirms that AI-based learning videos can serve as innovative and interactive learning media in elementary schools when accompanied by active teacher guidance and an appropriate content validation process. These findings contribute to the development of AI integration and digital literacy practices in elementary education.

Abstract

Indonesian agriculture faces an economic paradox where the sector remains a primary employer despite low wages and stagnant GDP contributions compared to industry. This study aims to analyze and quantify the phenomenon of agricultural involution in Indonesia from 2017 to 2023 by simultaneously examining the effects of land, labor, productivity, and land–labor interaction on agricultural output across 34 provinces. Generalized Structured Component Analysis (GSCA) with an Alternating Least Squares (ALS) approach is employed because of its ability to handle mixed formative–reflective measurement models and accommodate latent variable interaction effects —  capabilities unavailable in conventional covariance-based SEM or linear regression. The results indicate that land capacity is the dominant determinant of agricultural output with a path coefficient of 0.958, signaling that growth remains extensive rather than intensive. Crucially, labor intensity is found to have a significant negative effect on productivity and total output, confirming the law of diminishing marginal returns and the presence of labor surpluses that exceed optimal points. Furthermore, the interaction between land and labor yields a significant negative coefficient (-0.109), proving that demographic pressure on limited land exacerbates inefficiency and output destruction. Spatial post-hoc analysis indicates that agricultural involution is no longer confined to Java but has evolved into a national phenomenon, as demonstrated by the absence of significant disparities in labor-to-land ratios and productivity between Java and other regions. These findings suggest that sustainable transformation requires integrated policies for land protection, labor restructuring toward non-agricultural sectors, and technological modernization to break the cycle of involution.
