Abstract

The reception of health logistics represents a critical initial stage that determines the quality and safety of pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices, and medical consumables prior to their use in patient care. This study aims to analyze the implementation of health logistics reception procedures at PSJ, PT, and PP Pharmacies in Makassar City based on the Pharmaceutical Service Standards outlined in Ministry of Health Regulation Number 73 of 2016. An observational design with a descriptive quantitative and evaluative approach was employed through direct observation and interviews with the Pharmacist in Charge and relevant personnel. Data were collected using a checklist comprising nine reception indicators and analyzed using percentage calculations based on the Guttman scale. The findings show that all pharmacies consistently and comprehensively executed every required procedure. Each facility achieved the maximum evaluation score of nine out of nine, reflecting a one hundred percent compliance rate categorized as very good. All stages, including physical product inspection, document verification, batch number and expiration date checking, management of discrepancies through return procedures, and administrative validation, were conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements. These results indicate that the managerial aspects of health logistics reception across the three pharmacies are well structured and accurate, ensuring the quality and safety of products prior to patient use. The study recommends regular internal audits and the development of logistics management innovations to maintain and enhance reception performance in subsequent periods.

Abstract

TB treatment requires long-term therapy using anti-tuberculosis drugs (OTAs), either singly or in combination. The use of combination therapy is considered more effective in preventing drug resistance and increasing treatment success. However, the choice of therapy method is also influenced by economic considerations, considering the continuing increase in health care costs. Therefore, a pharmacoeconomic analysis is needed, specifically a Cost Effectiveness Analysis (CEA) to compare the costs and effectiveness of two treatment alternatives, namely single OAT therapy and combination therapy. Cost Effectiveness Analysis (CEA) is a type of pharmacoeconomic analysis in which all costs are compared with the effects of two or more treatment options. Single OAT treatment is a medical action undertaken by tuberculosis patients, while combination treatment is a treatment method consisting of two or more drugs or treatment techniques used simultaneously to increase treatment effectiveness, reduce the risk of resistance, or improve clinical outcomes. The research method is a descriptive non-experimental, the data studied are retrospective using secondary data from patient medical records. The results showed that treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis using combination therapy (rifampicin and isoniazid) is more cost-effective with an ACER value of Rp132. 182 compared to single therapy (ethambutol) with an ACER value of Rp. 170,536 and an ICER value of combination and single therapy of Rp. 119,857.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: The increasing digitalization of higher education has positioned learning media as a central component of instructional design, particularly among Generation Z learners who exhibit strong multimodal and self-regulated learning behaviors. Despite widespread use of printed modules and presentation slides, limited research has examined how these media function as integrated cognitive systems within health administration education. Purpose: This study explores how Generation Z students interpret, use, and combine learning media formats (modules, slides, and blended use) within a Healthcare Marketing course, focusing on their role in shaping cognitive engagement, understanding, and learning strategies. Methods: A qualitative descriptive–interpretive design was implemented using in-depth interviews, optional focus groups, and document review. Data were analyzed through reflexive thematic analysis to identify patterns of media use, pedagogical meaning, and contextual interaction. Results: Students consistently positioned modules as the primary source of conceptual depth and academic reliability, while slides functioned as cognitive scaffolding tools that supported attention and comprehension during lectures. A dominant finding was the emergence of a sequential blended strategy, where students used slides during class and modules for post-class elaboration. Learning effectiveness was further mediated by environmental conditions and instructional delivery, indicating that media cannot be separated from context. Conclusion: Learning media in Generation Z cohorts operate as an integrated cognitive system rather than discrete tools, requiring alignment between media design, instructional delivery, and learning environment. This study contributes to instructional design literature by demonstrating that effective health education must move beyond single-media approaches toward structured multimodal integration grounded in cognitive and contextual realities.Abstrak diketik dengan dua Bahasa secara berurutan, yaitu Indonesia dan Inggris.

Abstract

Background: Digital health and telemedicine have evolved into structural components of modern healthcare systems, fundamentally transforming how access, service delivery, and care coordination are organized. While their adoption accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic, their broader implications for healthcare service management, quality of care, and system sustainability remain variably understood. Aim: This scoping review aims to synthesize current evidence on the integration of digital health, telemedicine, and healthcare service management, with a focus on their impact on quality of care and health system sustainability. Methods: A scoping review design was applied following PRISMA-oriented principles. Literature published between 2020 and 2026 was identified from major scientific databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect. Studies were included if they examined digital health or telemedicine interventions and reported outcomes related to healthcare access, service quality, patient experience, efficiency, or sustainability. Evidence was synthesized across four domains: digital health ecosystem, access to care, service quality, and efficiency–sustainability. Results: The findings indicate that digital health and telemedicine expand healthcare access by reducing geographical and temporal barriers, improve service quality through enhanced coordination and communication, and increase operational efficiency by optimizing resource utilization and reducing unnecessary hospital visits. In addition, digital health contributes to system sustainability by enabling flexible, adaptive service delivery models and improving system resilience. However, these benefits are conditional on factors such as infrastructure readiness, interoperability, governance frameworks, and digital equity. Conclusion: Digital health and telemedicine should be conceptualized as healthcare service-management infrastructure rather than standalone technologies. Their impact on quality and sustainability depends on effective integration with clinical workflows, organizational processes, and policy frameworks. Future health systems must focus on governance, equity, and continuous performance evaluation to realize the full potential of digital transformation.

Abstract

Healthcare facilities play an essential role, not only as a place for pharmacists to carry out pharmacy practice but also in ensuring the quality of medicines provided to the community. Therefore, the aspect of drug storage is a crucial factor that requires careful attention. If not managed in accordance with established standards, it may decrease drug effectiveness, accelerate deterioration, cause dispensing errors, and result in undetected drugs that are nearing or have already passed their expiration date. The objective of this study was to identify drug storage management in APP, APT, and APSJ in Makassar City and to analyze the level of conformity of these storage systems with Pharmaceutical Service Standards No. 73 of 2016. Data were collected through direct observation using a checklist and interviews. This study employed an observational method with a descriptive quantitative and evaluative approach, which involved observing ongoing activities and comparing them with the regulations related to pharmaceutical service standards, particularly regarding drug storage management. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive assessment categories, where scores of 81–100% were classified as “very good,” 61–80% as “good,” 41–60% as “fair,” 21–40% as “poor,” and 0–20% as “very poor.” Based on the observations, the drug storage systems in APP, APT, and APSJ in Makassar City achieved scores of 90.48%, 90.91%, and 90.91%, respectively. These results fall into the “very good” category, indicating compliance with the Technical Guidelines for Pharmaceutical Services issued in 2019.

Abstract

Health logistics inventory control is an essential component of pharmacy management to ensure medicine availability and support the continuity of pharmaceutical services. Inventory management that is not systematically planned may result in stockouts or excess inventory. This study aimed to describe the implementation of health logistics inventory control at PPKG Pharmacy in Makassar City using a combination of ABC analysis, Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), Reorder Point (ROP), and Safety Stock (SS) methods. This study employed a descriptive quantitative design with a retrospective approach. The data were obtained from records of health logistics availability and utilization from January to December 2024, as well as interviews with pharmaceutical personnel regarding the inventory control system. ABC analysis was used to classify items based on their value contribution to usage, EOQ to calculate economically planned order quantities, ROP to determine reorder points, and SS to establish buffer stock levels. The results indicate that ABC analysis effectively identifies priority items requiring stricter monitoring, while the application of EOQ, ROP, and SS provides a systematic basis for planning the quantity and timing of medicine orders. Based on these findings, it is recommended that PPKG Pharmacy consider implementing the integrated ABC–EOQ–ROP–SS methods within its inventory management system as a decision-support alternative for procurement planning and stock monitoring, in order to minimize the risks of stockouts and overstocking and to support the sustainability of pharmaceutical services. Keywords: Inventory Management, ABC Analysis, Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), Reorder Point (ROP), Safety Stock; Pharmacy.

Abstract

Learning media selection is an important pedagogical issue in higher education. This study examined the association between students’ learning media preferences and answer scores in a healthcare marketing course. A quantitative observational design was used involving 304 students. Learning media preference was categorized into module, PowerPoint, combined module and PowerPoint, and other media. The primary outcome was answer score, while course rating and perceived interest were analyzed as descriptive indicators of learning experience. Descriptive statistics, group-based score comparison, multicollinearity assessment using variance inflation factor, and linear regression were applied. The combined-media group was used as the reference category in the regression model. Module-based learning was the most frequently preferred medium (38.5%), followed by combined module and PowerPoint use (30.6%) and PowerPoint-only preference (25.0%). Students achieved a high mean answer score of 83.22, while course rating was also high at 4.68 out of 5, and perceived interest was reported by nearly all respondents. PowerPoint-preferring students showed the highest descriptive mean score (84.55), followed by module-preferring students (82.99) and combined-media students (82.36). Regression analysis indicated that module preference was not significantly associated with answer score, while PowerPoint preference showed a positive but non-significant trend. Learning media preference alone did not significantly explain differences in student answer scores. The findings suggest that media format may be less important than pedagogical alignment, learner engagement, self-regulated learning, and instructional design quality. Future research should examine how media preference interacts with learning strategy, engagement, cognitive load, and course design in healthcare management education.
