Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACK This research was conducted at Al-Awwabin Islamic Boarding School in Depok City with the aim of understanding the attitudes of religious moderation among the students (santri). The study is motivated by the fact that Depok ranks fifth as an intolerant city according to a study by Setara Institute in collaboration with the Presidential Unit for the Implementation of Pancasila Ideology (UKP-PIP). Al-Awwabin Islamic Boarding School was chosen as the location for community service with a focus on religious moderation education, with the hope of strengthening harmony and tolerance in the community of Depok City. Research at Al-Awwabin Islamic Boarding School involved 50 participants from among the students and local residents. The seminar held as part of the research activities was attended by Dr. Ahmad Sujai, MM., as Speaker I, Ust. Abdurrahman (Riri), M.Pd., as Speaker II, and Mr. A. Muwahid Muhammadi, S.HI, MM., as the Moderator. The research results indicate that the understanding of religious moderation at Al-Awwabin Islamic Boarding School is generally good. However, there is variation in the level of understanding among respondents. This data analysis provides a deeper understanding of the distribution and variation of attitudes towards religious moderation in the boarding school. Additionally, factors such as the educational background of the students, the social organization of the guardian parents, the teaching of religious moderation, and the leadership role (Kiai) also contribute to the understanding and attitudes of religious moderation at Al-Awwabin Islamic Boarding School.

Abstract

AbstractThe incidence of divorce among young Muslim couples in Indonesia has seen a significant rise in recent years, influenced by various factors such as economic instability, shifts in social values, and the impact of social media. This study aims to analyze the underlying causes of divorce among young Muslims and to examine the role of Islamic family law as a preventive measure. Employing a qualitative approach with a juridical-sociological design, the research utilizes in-depth interviews and document analysis involving divorced young couples, religious courts, and religious institutions. The findings reveal that economic pressures, changes in social values, emotional instability, and the influence of social media significantly contribute to the increasing divorce rates. While Islamic family law, emphasizing mediation and reconciliation, serves as a preventive tool, challenges arise from the limited understanding of Islamic legal principles among young couples. Consequently, this study recommends the enhancement of premarital education based on Islamic principles and the strengthening of mediation efforts within religious courts to reduce divorce rates. The research is expected to contribute to the development of more effective policies aimed at strengthening the institution of marriage among young Muslim couples.

Abstract

This study wants to examine students' learning interests in the subject of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) at MA Darul Hikmah Pamulang and the factors that influence it. The background of this research is the low enthusiasm of students in SKI learning which is characterized by a passive attitude, lack of participation, and the assumption that SKI is only limited to memorization. The purpose of this study is to describe the condition of students' learning interest and analyze the causes of this low interest, especially from the aspect of teacher learning methods. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation, and is analyzed using the Miles Huberman model (reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions). The validity of the data was tested through triangulation. The results of the study show that monotonous learning methods, with the dominance of lectures without variation, are the main factors in low student interest in learning. These findings affirm the importance of learning innovations in SKI that are more creative, interactive, and contextual so that SKI is not only seen as a memorization subject, but also as a means of internalizing moral values and strengthening Islamic identity.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini ingin meneliti minat belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam (SKI) di MI Darul Hikmah Pamulang serta faktor-faktor yang memengaruhinya.

Abstract

This study examines the normalization of prewedding photography among urban Indonesian Muslims as visual culture serving aesthetic documentation, social status display, and love expression, while negotiating tensions with Islamic norms (khalwat, ikhtilath, tabarruj) derived from hadiths. Using maqāṣid al-syarī'ah and qualitative textual-cultural analysis, the research reframes prewedding practices not merely as Shari'ah violations but as spaces for reconciling religious authority and societal realities. Findings reveal adaptations like modest attire, non-physical poses, and sessions post-akad (marriage contract), reflecting “cultural ijtihad” to ethically reinterpret hadiths within digital visual culture. The study repositions hadiths as flexible ethical tools guiding Muslims to preserve honor (ḥifẓ al-’irdh) and marital spirituality (ḥifẓ al-dīn), transforming prewedding into expressions of Islamic values. It concludes that maqāṣidī-driven reinterpretation fosters harmony between popular culture and religious norms, advancing social hadith hermeneutics and Islamic visual ethics to address modernity’s challenges. This approach enables Muslims to navigate evolving traditions while upholding theological commitments through contextual adaptability.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate and formulate the direction of development of the Arabic language education curriculum using the CIPP Model (Context, Input, Process, Product) approach. This research uses a literature study method by systematically examining various scientific literature, the results of previous research, and policy documents related to the Arabic curriculum and learning. The results of the study show that in the context dimension, the Arabic curriculum still tends to be oriented towards a grammatical approach and is not fully responsive to the needs of students and contemporary educational dynamics. From the input aspect, the implementation of the curriculum is greatly influenced by the readiness of human resources, especially the pedagogical competence of teachers, the availability of contextual teaching materials, and the support of institutional facilities and policies. The process evaluation revealed that Arabic learning practices are still dominated by teacher-centered methods with the use of communicative approaches and limited learning technology. Meanwhile, in the product dimension, it was found that there was a gap between the curriculum objectives and the achievement of students' competencies, especially in applicable language skills. This study emphasizes that the development of the Arabic language education curriculum needs to be carried out comprehensively and sustainably by making CIPP evaluation as the basis for curriculum improvement, learning, and assessment systems.

Abstract

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to examine how the concepts within Mu‘tazilite uṣūl al-fiqh, particularly as formulated in Kitāb al-Mu‘tamad fī Uṣūl al-Fiqh by Abū al-Ḥusain al-Baṣrī, can offer a theoretical response to contemporary issues concerning LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) behavior. The study employs a qualitative method based on library research, using a thematic analysis approach to explore normative ideas in the aforementioned text. The primary focus is directed toward the exploration of two foundational uṣūl principles in Mu‘tazilite thought: the classification of human acts (al-Af‘āl) and the method of legal analogy (al-Qiyās al-Shar‘ī), both of which are grounded in the principles of rationality and justice. The findings suggest that LGBT behavior, within the framework of al-Mu‘tamad, can be categorized under the spectrum of qabīḥ (morally reprehensible) actions. Nevertheless, the rationalist nature of the Mu‘tazilite approach opens up possibilities for a contextual re-evaluation of this legal classification, taking into account modern developments in social norms and human rights discourse. This study does not intend to render a rigid legal verdict but rather proposes a reflective space for developing a more inclusive and adaptive fiqh. Accordingly, the main contribution of this research lies in strengthening the discourse of uṣūl al-fiqh based on reason and universal values, thereby creating a bridge between classical texts and contemporary socio-religious challenges.

Abstract

This study examines how an Islamic boarding school (madrasah) in Depok, Indonesia, integrates the national curriculum with 21st-century skills to cultivate students' life skills under the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The inquiry responds to a persistent paradox in Indonesian Islamic education: institutions with modest formal accreditation status frequently produce graduates with internationally recognized technical and character achievements, a pattern that existing curriculum literature has rarely examined in depth. A single-site qualitative case study design was employed. Data were drawn from in-depth interviews with the headmaster, vice-principal, mentors, and students; non-participant classroom and campus observation; and analysis of curriculum documents, lesson plans, and institutional records. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability strategies applied throughout. Three interlocking pillars, Strategic of Learning, Content of Learning, and School Culture, jointly cultivate hard, soft, and spiritual life skills. Strategic of Learning operationalizes a semester-based planning cycle built on Project Based Learning; Content of Learning channels this strategy through STEM-oriented modules such as robotics, the Internet of Things, tissue culture, and weather-balloon engineering; School Culture embeds daily religious practice as the vehicle for character and spiritual formation. Mentor competence, student motivation, parental involvement, and diversified funding supported implementation, while accreditation-bound national curriculum mandates and limited industry linkage constrained it. The study contributes an integrative three-pillar model relevant to faith-based schools navigating Industry 4.0 skill demands. As a single-site qualitative design, the findings are analytically rather than statistically generalizable; the transferability of the model to other institutional and cultural contexts warrants further comparative research. The study extends the life-skills literature by demonstrating how a faith-based institution operationalizes 21st-century competencies without displacing spiritual formation, thereby countering the assumption that religious schooling and future-ready skill development stand in tension.
