Abstract

This paper aims to develop a strategic information systems (IS) plan using the Ward and Peppard methodology, employing a qualitative approach with data collected through direct observations, interviews with key stakeholders, and a comprehensive literature review. The study integrates analytical tools such as SWOT, Value Chain, Porter’s Five Forces, PEST, and McFarlan’s Strategic Grid to evaluate internal and external environments. Findings reveal strengths in operational efficiency and customer engagement, alongside challenges like reliance on manual reservation systems and limited product diversification. Based on these insights, a strategic IS application portfolio and phased implementation plan were proposed to align IT investments with strategic objectives. The proposed solutions are expected to improve reservation handling, enhance customer engagement, and increase operational efficiency. This study highlights the innovative application of the Ward and Peppard methodology in the recreational sports industry, offering a scalable framework for other businesses to address similar operational challenges. Future research could extend this approach to real-world implementations or explore its adaptability across diverse sectors.

Abstract

Significant challenges for traditional information systems are posed due to the ever-growing volume and complexity of data. Artificial intelligence has emerged as a powerful solution to address these challenges by adapting and making intelligent decisions. Valuable insights can be gained from data to automate repetitive tasks and optimize the operations. This study examines how the researchers are concentrating to explore multifaceted impact of AI on the design, implementation, and optimization of information systems. AI is transforming the landscape of information systems with progresses in machine learning, text mining, cognitive computing and other AI technologies by enhancing the efficiency and adaptability across various domains. This study delves into this emerging landscape by conducting a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of Artificial intelligence in Information systems research. This bibliometric study retrieved a dataset of publications from Scopus database spanning from 1960 to 2023 to find out the insights hidden within the scientific papers. The analysis encompasses key bibliometric indicators, such as citation patterns, co-authorship networks, and thematic clusters etc. to represent historical development of research in Artificial intelligence within the context of Information systems. This study fills a gap in AI and IS literature, drawing on 306 publications, with key contributions from the USA, China, UK, Germany, India and leading authors like OGIELA L (Lidia Ogiela) and CIMINO JJ ( James J. Cimino). Co-authorship networks highlight the dominance of collaborative research hubs in countries like USA, China, Canada, Australia, while citation patterns underscore the influence of seminal works and cross-disciplinary contributions. The findings presented in this paper offer valuable insights for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers seeking a deeper understanding of the growing AI-IS landscape. As this is the first paper which takes the attempt to conduct a bibliometric analysis on artificial intelligence in information systems, this paper serves as a roadmap for navigating the rich tapestry of research, fostering collaboration, and guiding future investigations in this rapidly evolving and interdisciplinary field.

Abstract

Bali Mandara Regional Hospital integrates information technology into its healthcare services, but ransomware attacks pose significant risks to data security. In accordance with the 2016 Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics regulation, Electronic System Operators (PSE) are required to ensure information security, emphasizing confidentiality, integrity, and availability. To support this, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency introduced the Index KAMI, an evaluation tool aligned with ISO/IEC 27001 standards. This study evaluates the hospital’s information security using Index KAMI 5.0, yielding a score of 177, which classifies its readiness as “Not Eligible” for ISO 27001 compliance. Recommendations for improvement include establishing clear governance policies, implementing systematic risk management, enhancing asset management with integrated inventories, and strengthening data protection through access control and encryption. Additional measures involve improving physical security with surveillance systems and fostering stronger vendor relationships through binding SLA agreements. By adopting these measures, Bali Mandara Regional Hospital can enhance its security system, protect patient data, and achieve compliance with international standards.

Abstract

This research aims to design a system design of payroll Accounting Information System (AIS) at a primary private school (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Baidlo/”MIAB”), East Jakarta to improve the efficiency of payroll business processes. Business Process Improvement was used as a design approach in this research, with an applied research type. Collect data by interview with Headmaster and Treasurer. The tool used to document business processes is the Bizagi Modeler. Automation is carried out to prevent human error and increase the processing speed of payroll business processes. The business processes that are designed will be tested by material and information technology experts. The result of this research is that the proposed (to-be) business process increases the simplification of payroll activities by improving the quality of fast and accurate decision making which has economic value. Using Business Process Modelling Notation allows this research to present proposed business processes related to needs and solutions to problems in the research objects observed. This research is proven to be able to increase the simplification of business processes, increase efficiency in decision making by school principals in a relatively short time from 337 minutes to 41 minutes or a time saving of around 296 minutes (equivalent to 4.93 hours).Cutting manual activities to automated processes increases the opportunity for fraud and human error.

Abstract

Student health records play a pivotal role in nursing education, offering a comprehensive insight into students' health histories, immunization statuses, and clinical experiences. This study aims to identify the challenges and specific needs of NEUST-CON students to develop an efficient health record management system, design an Electronic Medical Record that outlines data collection, storage, security, and access protocols, and create a system prototype incorporating essential features and functionalities based on user requirements. This study utilizes applied quantitative research to gather numerical data, objectively measuring factors like the frequency and impact of issues related to record accessibility, availability, data retrieval and update, and data security and privacy. Furthermore, it employs a descriptive correlational design to examine the relationships between the demographic profile and the challenges on the student health information record system among NEUST-CON students. Findings revealed that most nursing students at NEUST are female, aged 18 to 21, primarily in their first year. The study identified challenges related to availability, accessibility, data retrieval and update, and data security and privacy in student health information records. Notably, availability emerged as the most pressing challenge. While overall satisfaction was reported among respondents, data security and privacy concerns persisted. A significant relationship was also observed between students' year levels and ages. Therefore, enhancements in infrastructure and functionalities are essential to ensure consistent availability of data and resources, mitigating downtime and ensuring uninterrupted access to the SHIR prototype system.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of the Electronic Information and Transaction Law (UU ITE) in handling online fraud cases in Indonesia, using normative-empirical legal methods. Although the UU ITE provides a comprehensive legal framework, its effectiveness is hampered by challenges in proving and tracing perpetrators, limited resources and technology in law enforcement agencies, and the complexity of cross-border cases. The data shows a significant increase in online fraud cases from 115,756 reports in 2021 to 130,000 victims in 2022. This research highlights the importance of a holistic approach that includes improving regulations, increasing the capacity of law enforcement, strengthening international cooperation, and increasing people's digital literacy. In addition, the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and a multi-stakeholder approach were identified as important strategies in the prevention and early detection of online fraud. Recommendations, including the revision of the UU ITE to accommodate technological developments and harmonization with the Criminal Code, are expected to improve the success of handling online fraud cases and create a safer digital environment in Indonesia.
