Abstract

Advances in information technology have transformed the paradigm of accounting information systems and opened new areas for evolving fraud practices. This study investigates the relationship between fraud and accounting information systems through a systematic literature review of 10 journal articles published between 2023-2025. The study findings indicate that machine learning technologies, particularly ensemble learning and natural language processing, significantly contribute to detecting fraud in various accounting cycles. The revenue and receipts cycle and purchases and payables cycle are the most frequently exploited areas, while manipulation of journal entries through the general ledger is the most difficult form of fraud to detect. The digital competence and data science literacy of accounting personnel are proven to play an important role in detection effectiveness, with diagnostic skills serving as the main mediator, represents the most difficult form of fraud to detect. Digital competency and data science literacy of accounting personnel prove to be crucial factors in fraud detection effectiveness, with diagnostic skills serving as key mediators. The norms of segregation of duties and audit trails are also necessary in an increasingly digital environment, but they require modification to adapt to a computerized competitive environment that requires unique procedures compared to the manual era of the past. This study proposes five hypotheses, conducts further empirical research, and offers practical recommendations for decision-makers on enforcing preventive and detective strategies against fraudulent activities.

Abstract

Web-based information systems in educational institutions store and process sensitive data, turning them into a perfect target for cybercriminals, particularly Cross-Site Scripting (XSS). This research aims to identify and evaluate XSS vulnerabilities across twelve web-based information systems at Institution X using Penetration Testing Execution Standard (PTES) methodology, combined with grey-box technique and black-box technique, and OWASP Risk Rating Methodology to assess the risk of the vulnerabilities. The testing was conducted by the researcher as an insider tester with student-level access, applying black-box testing for systems inaccessible to students and grey-box testing for systems accessible to students. The combination of automated tools including passive reconnaissance, active reconnaissance and manual testing was employed to minimize false positive and validated the vulnerabilities. The total of eleven XSS vulnerabilities across the twelve tested systems, consist of five Reflected XSS and six Stored XSS. No DOM-Based XSS vulnerabilities were confirmed across all the tested systems. All of identified vulnerabilities were assessed as medium risk based on the OWASP Risk Rating Methodology. These findings demonstrate that XSS vulnerabilities are still present within the educational institution environment indicates that secure input handling was inconsistently implemented across systems. The result highlights the importance of adopting remediation to secure coding practices, implementing proper input sanitization, output encoding, securing HTTP Headers, and Content Security Policy (CSP), as well as conducting regular security assessment to strengthen the overall security posture in an information system within educational institution.

Abstract

In recent years, technologies such as big data, cloud computing, and internet networks have grown significantly. Technological advancements are also accompanied by a growth in the number of users of internet-based services, such as cloud services, which grows annually. This growth in user numbers and technological advancements increase the opportunity for cyberattacks through networks, such as theft of user data or information. Therefore, an intrusion detection system is needed as a preventive measure against cyberattacks to protect information on the network. Intrusion detection prevents cyberattacks by using machine learning, which can work effectively in heavy network traffic. Designing an optimal intrusion detection system requires various approaches, such as feature selection and the selected machine learning model. In this study, feature selection was carried out using the filter method, wrapper method, and embedded method. The filter method uses Information Gain (IG) and the wrapper method uses Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE). Then, it was tested with deep learning-based machine learning models such as Deep Neural Network (DNN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), and with traditional machine learning models such as Random Forest (RF) and Logistic Regression (LR). In this research, we contribute by proposing a comprehensive comparative study that evaluates multiple feature selection method and machine learning models to identify the most effective combination for improving intrusion detection system performance. In this study, DNN was able to produce the highest average accuracy of 87.38%. This was followed by MLP, LSTM, and Random Forest with 87.28%, 86.48%, and 86.08%, respectively. Furthermore, the Logistic Regression model had the lowest accuracy value, at 72.34%. Furthermore, the best feature selection method, on average, was the wrapper method, providing a 0.14% improvement compared to the baseline.

Abstract

This study investigates the determinants of actual engagement within the PLN Mobile application by examining information quality and digital self-efficacy as primary antecedents. It evaluates the mediating role of perceived behavioral control in linking system attributes to actual user behavior. An explanatory quantitative design with a causal-verificative approach was applied to data from 540 active users in South and Central Kalimantan. Using purposive sampling, structural relationships were analyzed through Partial Least Squares -Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The findings reveal that information quality and digital self-efficacy significantly enhance both perceived behavioral control and actual usage. Perceived behavioral control acted as a significant partial mediator. The structural model explains 81.7% of the variance in behavioral control (R²= 0.817) and 94.7% in actual application usage (R²= 0.947), indicating strong explanatory power. These results confirm that psychological empowerment driven by information quality and digital confidence plays a key role in sustaining digital engagement. The sustainable utilization of digital public services in the energy sector depends largely on consumer psychological empowerment through reliable information systems and user-focused digital support. This study focuses on the Kalimantan Selatan Middle Region (Kalselteng) and uses cross-sectional data. It integrates the theory of planned behavior and the information systems success model to explain digital service adoption.

Abstract

This article analyzes Islamic journalism in the algorithmic era by highlighting the relationship between the mission of da'wah, information ethics, and the logic of digital platforms. The development of digital media has changed the practice of Islamic journalism from just delivering religious information to a form of digital da'wah that operates in an algorithm-based system. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method through a descriptive-critical analysis of the literature on Islamic journalism, digital da'wah, information ethics, and digital platforms. The results of the study show that Islamic journalism faces a tension between the value of da'wah and the logic of the attention economy in digital platforms. On the one hand, Islamic journalism is required to maintain the principles of da'wah, tabayyun, accuracy, balance, and social responsibility. On the other hand, digital media encourages adaptation to click-based visibility mechanisms, engagement, virality, and content distribution optimization. This article offers an adaptive negotiation model that places da'wah, information ethics, and platform logic as elements that must be managed in a balanced manner. Islamic journalism in the age of algorithms should not reject digital technologies, but neither should it be completely subservient to the logic of platforms. Therefore, an adaptive, ethical, and credible Islamic communication model is needed so that the da'wah function continues to run effectively in the midst of changes in the digital media ecosystem.

Abstract

ENGLISH The use of Instagram as a promotional tool for sharia fintech has the potential to lead to misleading information practices, particularly in the form of profit overclaim, omission of risk disclosure, and the use of ambiguous “sharia-compliant” labels without adequate explanation, such as claims of profits without properly explaining the risks. The purpose of this study is to analyze the forms and patterns of misleading information practices in the marketing of sharia fintech on Instagram and their implications for consumer protection according to applicable law and maqashid sharia principles, particularly the protection of wealth (hifdz al-mal) and intellect (hifdz al-‘aql). This study applies a normative legal method with an approach to legislation and conceptual thinking, complemented by a qualitative content analysis of selected Instagram promotional materials to identify concrete misleading patterns. The findings show that the marketing methods used still have weaknesses in meeting the principles of transparency and honesty, as reflected in recurring patterns such as selective information disclosure, emphasis on guaranteed returns, and insufficient explanation of potential losses, which have the potential to harm consumers. Therefore, there needs to be improvements in supervision, increasing consumer knowledge, and implementing marketing ethics in line with sharia values to achieve fairer consumer protection INDONESIA Penggunaan Instagram sebagai alat promosi untuk fintech syariah berpotensi memicu praktik informasi yang menyesatkan (misleading information), terutama dalam bentuk klaim keuntungan yang berlebihan (profit overclaim), tidak dicantumkannya pengungkapan risiko (omission of risk disclosure), dan penggunaan label "patuh syariah" yang ambigu tanpa penjelasan yang memadai, seperti klaim keuntungan tanpa menjelaskan risikonya dengan benar.
