Abstract

Background: Digital media have altered the basic architecture of mass communication. Professional media are no longer the only institutions that produce, select, distribute, and frame public information; platforms, algorithms, creators, and audiences now participate in a continuous circulation process. Aims: This article examines how digital media transform the production and consumption of information and proposes an integrated framework for understanding the shift from linear mass communication to platform-mediated communication. Research Method: The study uses an integrative literature review that prioritizes peer-reviewed scholarship on digital journalism, media convergence, platformization, algorithmic gatekeeping, audience participation, and news consumption, complemented by current evidence from the Reuters Institute Digital News Report 2026 and Indonesia-specific studies. Results and Conclusion: The synthesis identifies six connected transformations: newsroom production becomes continuous and multimedia; gatekeeping becomes hybrid; distribution becomes platform-dependent; consumption becomes mobile, personalized, video-oriented, and partly incidental; audiences increasingly act as redistributors and co-producers; and behavioral data feed back into editorial and commercial decisions. In Indonesia, 64% of respondents in the 2026 Digital News Report said they used social media for news, illustrating the growing importance of third-party platforms in the information chain. Yet this expansion of access also intensifies problems of verification, context loss, commercial pressure, algorithmic opacity, and declining trust. Contribution: The article develops a six-stage circular model of digital mass communication that connects production, platform formatting, algorithmic distribution, audience interpretation, recirculation, and data feedback. The model clarifies why contemporary mass communication should be analyzed as a negotiated system involving journalistic institutions, technology companies, content creators, and active audiences rather than as a one-way transmission process.

Abstract

The development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) requires educational institutions to develop students’ digital competencies through adaptive and applicable learning. The Applied Education Program in Information and Communication Technology (PRODISTIK) is one of the efforts to equip students with ICT knowledge and skills relevant to technological developments and the needs of the workforce. This study aims to analyze curriculum management, learning implementation, the program’s ability to equip students with ICT competencies, and the supporting and inhibiting factors of the PRODISTIK Program at SMA Islam Almaarif Singosari. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that the PRODISTIK Program is systematically managed through planning, implementation, and evaluation based on the ITS curriculum and adapted to the school’s conditions. The program is integrated into the school curriculum through practice-based and project-based learning and the utilization of various digital technologies. The program is able to develop students’ ICT skills, particularly in graphic design, as well as creativity, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. Its implementation is supported by the Foundation, collaboration with ITS, teacher competence, and learning facilities, but still faces limitations in funding, devices, internet connectivity, students’ varying abilities, and rapid technological developments.

Abstract

MSMEs are a key driver of employment and economic activity, but many still struggle to manage financial information and adopt digital technologies effectively. Previous research shows that Accounting Information Systems (AIS) enhance business performance, while Technology Readiness is widely studied as a predictor of technology adoption. However, limited research has investigated whether Technology Readiness moderates the relationship between AIS and MSME performance, particularly in Indonesia. This gap is important because digital transformation may depend not only on the availability of technology but also on users’ readiness to adopt and utilize it. To address this gap, this study examines the direct effects of AIS and Technology Readiness on MSME performance and tests Technology Readiness as a moderating variable. Data were collected through questionnaires from 96 MSME owners and managers in Parepare City, Indonesia, selected using purposive sampling, and analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results indicate that AIS has a significant positive effect on MSME performance, while Technology Readiness also has a significant positive direct effect. However, the interaction effect is not statistically significant, indicating that Technology Readiness does not moderate the relationship between AIS and MSME performance. Theoretically, these findings extend the AIS and Technology Readiness literature by demonstrating that both variables contribute independently to MSME performance rather than functioning as complementary mechanisms. Practically, policymakers and support institutions should develop distinct interventions for accounting-system implementation and digital capability development, while MSME owners should strengthen financial-system utilization and digital readiness as separate but complementary organizational capabilities.

Abstract

This integrative evidence review examines accounting information quality and credit decisions in community-based enterprises by asking how accounting information quality is connected to credit decisions and which conditions determine whether that connection becomes operationally meaningful. The article synthesizes peer-reviewed and institutional literature relevant to reporting, assurance, control, and financial decision systems, emphasizing mechanisms, boundary conditions, and measurement choices rather than a universal average effect. Evidence associated with Knudsen, 2020 and Dechow et al., 2010 is read with the wider source set to distinguish formal adoption from effective use, short-term response from durable capability, and observed association from causal interpretation. The synthesis identifies complementary roles for governance oversight and professional judgment, regulatory clarity, and governance or coordination routines. No survey, interview, experiment, proprietary dataset, or regression estimate is represented as having been collected for this conceptual review.

Abstract

This study examines how service quality, system quality, information quality, and reality model fit shape management students’ learning effectiveness in an ERP business simulation game, with user satisfaction, continuance intention, and perceived ease of use as mediators. This study is designed as quantitative research. Data came from 612 undergraduate business and accounting students at Universitas Islam Indonesia who had completed an ERP course incorporating the ERPsim simulation. Hypotheses were tested using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). This study shows that system quality, information quality, and reality model fit significantly enhanced satisfaction, whereas service quality did not. Service quality, system quality, and reality model fit strengthened continuance intention, but information quality did not. Perceived ease of use was shaped by service quality, system quality, and information quality, not by reality model fit. All mediators significantly predicted learning effectiveness, continuance intention most strongly. The practical implication is that simulation developers should prioritise system stability, informational clarity, and interface usability; educators should deploy ERP simulations as sustained, iterative experiences. The study integrates the Information Systems Success model with perceived ease of use from the Technology Acceptance Model, extending information systems success theory to gamified ERP learning. Single-institution, cross-sectional limitations warrant longitudinal, multi-institution replications with objective performance measures.

Abstract

Through the lens of Information Processing Theory and Regulatory Focus, this study aims to determine how information disclosure can have varying effects on distinct consumer types. This study utilized both experimental and causal approaches. Given the outcomes of the experiments conducted under highly controlled conditions, this is important. Consequently, causal research design is an option for validating experimental findings so that they can be extended. This experimental study used both between-subject and within-subject designs for data collection. A between-subjects design is used to compare participant reactions to each scenario, whereas a within-subjects design is used to compare responses to high- and low-involvement products. In this study, data collection is conducted via a manipulation check mechanism, in which most respondents grasped the scenario to be evaluated. The analysis then proceeded to the t-test and ANOVA for independent samples. Next is causal research employing the survey method, for which data is processed using AMOS and checked for goodness-of-fit. The findings of this study are as follows: (1) in the context of Information Processing Theory, which emphasizes the heuristic assessment process in consumer decision-making; (2) the use of celebrities is thought to cause excess information; and (3) this study confirms that the tendency of impulse buying behavior is different for each consumer character and that each consumer character processes information differently.
