Abstract

This study investigates the pronunciation strategies used by Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) teachers to improve their students' phonetic proficiency. There were twenty-eight teacherssurveyed and interviewed as part of a qualitative-methods strategy to gather data. The results show that teachers use a range of strategies to students to helph typical pronunciation issues, including drilling, repetition, using the native speakers audio, the direct method, visual audio, etc. Teachers say using these strategies helps students pronounce words correctly and boosts their confidence when speaking Indonesian. Disparities in student competency and a lack of resources were noted as barriers to successful adoption, nevertheless.According to teachers, incorporating these techniques greatly enhances pupils' confidence when speaking Indonesian and helps them pronounce words correctly. However, obstacles to successful implementation were identified, including disparities in student competency and a lack of resources. The study ends with suggestions for creating focused training courses for BIPA teachers to improve their teaching methods and raise pronunciation proficiency among students. These revelations advance our knowledge of successful language teaching strategies in multilingual settings.

Abstract

The Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) program is gaining global interest, yet its learning process still faces various challenges. This study aims to identify and analyze difficulties experienced by international students in learning Indonesian at the Language Center of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews with two foreign students. The findings reveal that the main challenges include vocabulary acquisition, differences in grammatical structure, accent adaptation, as well as adjusting to Indonesian culture and native speakers’ speaking speed. Proposed solutions involve repeated practice, direct interaction with native speakers, and the use of interactive learning methods. In conclusion, a deeper understanding of these challenges can help design more effective and adaptive BIPA learning strategies.

Abstract

The Indonesian Language Program for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) plays a strategic role in strengthening cultural diplomacy and promoting the internationalization of the Indonesian language. However, the implementation of BIPA programs at State Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) across Java and Madura still faces various challenges, such as the absence of specific institutional policies, the lack of a standardized curriculum, limited supporting facilities, and teaching materials that do not meet the needs of foreign learners. This study aims to describe the problems of policy and program implementation at six PTKIN: UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, IAIN Kediri, IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, IAIN Madura, and UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldana’s interactive model. The findings indicate that BIPA program implementation remains suboptimal. Therefore, policy intervention, institutional strengthening, and the development of an integrative and needs-based BIPA learning model are urgently needed.

Abstract

Indonesian 'Bahasa' is gaining popularity both within and outside of the country, being able to speak `Bahasa' is now highly advantageous. It is proved that an increasing number of foreign speakers are participating in the 'Program Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing' (BIPA) or 'Bahasa' learning program. However, the current BIPA teaching materials contain several flaws and are therefore ineffective in aiding language acquisition. The aims of this study were to improve the efficiency of teaching Indonesian 'Bahasa' learning method at a university in Banal by using audio-visual aids, specifically for foreign students. The study discovered that it is essential to include interactive and culturally relevant resources in BIPA training, using research and development (RnD) methodologies using validity grid and interviews as the instrument. The validity score analyze based on the mean of each statement. After that, the interview was transcribed by researchers. The results of the study shed new light on the process used to create the University of Batam BIPA teaching materials book. An audio-visual Bahasa Indonesia textbook for BIPA was created with the intention of addressing unsolved difficulties by matching the content to the interests and requirements of the students. The outcomes also shown how creating an interactive BIPA textbook with audiovisual components and adding interactive sections may raise student interest and participation. BIPA learning may be brought closer to the objectives and skill levels of the learners by putting into practice efficient strategies to solve shortcomings that have been found and redesigning the instructional materials to increase interaction, diversity, and cultural relevance.

Abstract

Abstract

BIPA has gained significant momentum on a global scale since the Indonesian language (IL) became the official language. Due to the high demand for industry-specific material development, researchers conduct a needs analysis regarding IL as a foreign language. From the standpoint of target situation analysis, this study aims to identify the outcomes of a need analysis of foreign learners concerning industrial-oriented IL skills by utilizing a qualitative methodology through a questionnaire. A total of fifty-two people participated voluntarily. The data analysis was qualitative. The findings revealed that IL skills should be related to the industry context, which covers listening, speaking, reading, writing, and knowledge of language structure. It is also essential to reflect metacognitive strategies through the content on material development. These findings will guide the design of learning material and processes by considering the learners' needs and characteristics from the perspective of BIPA as a foreign language.
