Abstract

There are several kinds of supporting media in teaching and learning process. Student worksheet or Lembar Kerja Siswa (LKS) is a printed-based media used as a medium to help deliver messages from teaching objectives. It is used as a guide for students in carrying out activities or assignments, both individually or in groups. The use of LKS as a learning media has several advantages and disadvantages. However, a teacher as an educator needs to know how and what to consider in choosing a good LKS for the students to use, as a LKS of good quality has several criteria and requirements in it. Abstract

This research aims at examining the application of online caricature application MomentCam on student’s biography text writing about Jokowi’s outstanding characters. This research employed a qualitative method. The data in this research was in the form of students’ writing results from the application of MomentCam. The subject of this research was a tenth grade students of senior high school. The research particularly aims at identifying (1) students’ biography writing skills outcomes that explain positive and outstanding characters of Jokowi by using MomentCam online caricature application and (2) the description of positive and outstanding characters of Jokowi within students’ biography text writing by using MomentCam online caricature applicationThis research confirms that the utilization of MomentCam online caricature application is successful in assisting students’ writing ability, particularly in writing biography text which consisted outstanding characteristics of Jokowi.

Abstract

Gandrung is a distinctive art that has become the mascot of Banyuwangi tourism. Behind the fame of Gandrung's art today, there is a debate concerning the existence of Gandrung. The debate occurred between two groups who had different views about Gandrung. This study aims to dissect the reality of the existence of Gandrung based on these different views. The focus of this research is the reality of Gandrung in the Osing community in Banyuwangi. This research uses a qualitative approach. The data of this research are in the form of utterances sourced from the results of interviews with Gandrung art activist informants. Based on data analysis, it was found that Gandrung's reality in Banyuwangi included: (1) Gandrung and art for struggle, (2) Gandrung differences then and now, (3) Gandrung art is not a ritual, (4) Gandrung dancers are not highly educated, (5) Gandrung is considered far from religion, and (6) Gandrung is a good user of witchcraft.

Abstract

The article attempts to scrutinize representation of motherhood in a novella “Silsilah Duka” by Dwi Ratih Ramadhani, a young Madurese writer. It tells about three female characters and their journey as mothers, which, later, create shattering events. In analyzing the data, this study applies patriarchal motherhood theory by Andrea O’Reilly. Qualitative approach with close reading method is applied. The results disclose that patriarchal motherhood is this novella is socially and culturally constructed.

Abstract

The objective of this research were to find out the hedonism practices through main character dialogues in The Wolf of Wall Street movie based on Weijers’s theory of hedonism and happiness which consist of six types of hedonism, they were folk hedonism, value and prudential hedonism, motivational hedonism, normative hedonism, hedonistic egoism, and hedonistic utilitarianism. This research used descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data. The data were taken from the main character dialogues in The Wolf of Wall Street movie. The result of the research showed that there were five types of hedonism practices found in the main character dialogues of The Wolf of Wall Street movie, they were folk hedonism, value and prudential hedonism, motivational hedonism, hedonistic egoism, and hedonistic utilitarianism.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the forms, attitudes, and typical speech acts of the illocutionary commentators by gender on President Donald Trump's speech at the Liberty University. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative approach to speech acts. Data sources were obtained from commentators on President Donald Trump's speech. The data used was comments written below the speech video display downloaded on Youtube. The data analysis technique was an interactive analysis consisting of four stages, namely data collection, data reduction, data analysis, and drawing conclusions.

Abstract

This study aims to inquire into the use of commonicative approach in teaching speaking competence for young learners. The researcher found that the speaking skills or competence was the important skills that learners needed to grasp for improving their language competence. Young learners need to learn English as their foreign or second language as fun as possible. Speaking competence will teach English beyond grammar, words function, so that they feel free to express their opinion. By feeling comfortable to express themselves, they have good self-esteem to learn new knowledge and language. That is the reason why communicative approach, especially speaking competence can be taught well to the young learners. Keywords: communicative approach, speaking skill, teaching young learners

Abstract

In recent years, Youtube is technology of video showing that consist a lot of content which is; music, vlog, science, lifestyle, education, tutorial, etc. This technology commonly used by human around the world. In the field of education, youtube can help me to gain my knowledge to be more developed, especially in learning speaking. I need to use my imagination, diligent, and also motivation  to learn speaking using this technology. Furthemore, the purpose of this research, I conducted this study to discover how YouTube assisted me to practice my speaking ability. This study also explored the intersemiotic practice experience and This research used autobiographical narrative inquiry as the research design. Intersemiotic is meaning making from word to word that I have learnt on the field. I was conducting by daring system through mobile phone. By mobile phone I able to surfed the data from internet freely. Participant of this research was me as the narrator. I also used justification of my self to tell what I have took on my learning progress. Autobiography is kind of narrative inquiry that I take for my research.  The data were collected by learning log, reflective journal, and documentation. After the data collected, I would itterative, emergent and interpretative the data.This analysis data related on my research The result of the data, i found a lot topic that able to enhance my speaking ability, by using documentation i able to monitor my improvement of speaking. And also by used learning log was really helpfull to guide me to classify word, vocabulary and sentence form. For the last one interpretative was a soul of my research. With interpretative I able to improve my speaking ability autonomously. By using some strategies that I have found in the journal.

Abstract

ABSTRACT:This study aims to investigate the process of online peer assessment implementation in a writing activity and to find out the students’ responses toward the implementation of online peer assessment in learning writing skills. This research uses a qualitative approach and case study as the research design. The data were collected with the triangulation data by observation, interview, and documentation. Observation checklist, in-depth interview, and documentation used as data retrieval instruments. The subject of this study is an English teacher and students of class XI TKJ 1 at SMKN 1 Rawamerta. The result of this study shows that teaching writing to the students’ responses toward the use of peer assessment was positive. It can be seen from the attitude and enthusiasm. Students agreed that peer assessment is a very effective technique used in writing activities.  Keywords: Peer Assessment, Writing Skill
