Abstract

This research aims to analyze the psychological development of the main character "Gabimaru" in Yūji Kaku's Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku. The focus is on how Gabimaru copes with past trauma and manages his id, ego, and superego in the present. The writer is collecting and determining this study through a qualitative descriptive method that includes both conversation and visuals from the manga Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to examine the disproportionate id and superego that results in religious trauma, which is the trigger of the Lisbon sisters to commit suicide. To conduct this research, qualitative method was used to analyze The Virgin Suicides (2000) by Sofia Coppola. Following the investigation, the researcher identified five elements that contributed to the sisters' religious trauma throughout the film.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze conceptual metaphors in the lyrics of the song Mantra Jiwa by Aviwkila as a life motivation narrative through a cognitive linguistic approach. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. This study identifies structural, ontological, and orientational metaphors and their contributions to building motivational narratives. The findings of the study reveal that the lyrics of the song Soul Mantra by Aviwkila use conceptual metaphors to arouse emotional and conceptual involvement, which fosters a motivational perspective. This study enriches the understanding of metaphorical language in popular music and its cognitive impact.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the problems faced by BIPA students in learning culture in elective classes. This research uses qualitative method with descriptive research type. The results of this research show several things that become obstacles for foreign students in learning other cultures, namely the difficulty level of teaching materials, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, and cultural differences.

Abstract

This study examines expressive speech on the Twitter account @um_fess, an anonymous State University of Malang student community menfess account. This study aims to describe the form of expressive speech, speech strategies, and the meaning of speech on the account with a descriptive qualitative approach, using student tweet data during April 2023. Data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that expressive speech consists of declarative, interrogative, and imperative speech, which express feelings and experiences openly. The utterances are divided into short limited, and deep broad. Complete utterances provide full context, while incomplete utterances rely on contextual understanding. Speech strategies include direct and indirect approaches, with positive and negative politeness, and vague strategies. Literal meanings are able to convey intent clearly, while non-literal meanings are used to convey more complex feelings and criticisms.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine Guy de Maupassant's short story,"The Necklace." This study applies Karl Marx's literary sociology theory along with aqualitative descriptive methodology. One method of data analysis used in this study isreading short stories and marking specific passages that discuss social elements. 2)choosing and identifying narrative elements that depict socioeconomic classes 3)explaining quotes in light of the applied theory 4) drawing recommendations andconclusions from the analysis's findings.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine which suffix students most frequently used and the factor of difficulty they encountered when converting verbs to nouns using nominal suffixes. Tests and questionnaires were used in the study's quantitative descriptive design to gather information from fifth-semester English education study program students. The findings indicate that students had no problems and that the most common suffix used was -ing.
