Abstract

Javanese puppetry story is still dominated by masculine perspective, in which men have higher degree than women. It creates a social construction that the position of women is under that of men and women has not control over their body. From this representation of ideology, women’s feminism spirit grows to get equality and control or power over themselves. Drupadi character symbolizes a Javanese woman subjected to the man’s power. It contains internal interpretation on a strongly constructed awareness that the position of women is under that of men. The discourse was constructed through the life journey of Drupadi character who was always subjected to her husband’s command. Drupadi tried to do all of his husband’s command and decision toughly and indirectly Drupadi no longer has control over her body. The research method used was qualitative research and data analysis technique used was descriptive one with hermeneutic approach. This research will operate the conception and its relation to the text interpretation. Using this research analysis method, discourse and feminism theories will be used to study the character of Drupadi in Javanese puppetry. Meanwhile, data validation was carried out using triangular data through: firstly comparing the data of observation and data of interview; secondly, comparing information coming from one source with that coming from another; and thirdly, comparing interview with relevant document.

Abstract

The freedom of media since the death of the New Order has made its development so significant, especially in Indonesia. Artists have a platform to create creative ideas through media such as creating movies or music. The issue of power that is not in favor of the lower middle social class makes music present as a tool to respond to difficult situations and even become a tool of resistance to the government or those in power. This research is a qualitative study using Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis theory which has three dimensions in the text of the song Jogja Ora Didol by Jogja Hip-Hop Foundation. The musical background of Jogja Hip-hop Foundation and the language used in the song contain resistance. This study aims to see the extent to which the song Jogja Ora Didol influences and builds the power of resistance to the domination that exists in Yogyakarta. The song Jogja Ora Didol was created in conjunction with the many protests of empowered citizens against the massive construction of hotels in the Yogyakarta area. Resistance discourse is viewed from three levels, namely text, discourse-practice, and socio-cultural. This research aims to 1) Represent the text of the song Jogja Ora Didol, 2) The background of the creation of the song and 3) the influence of the song to create and build resistance. The results of this study show that the resistance of word units and metaphors form a unit of song text. In discourse practice, resistance is formed from the process of text production and consumption. Finally, in the sociocultural order, it is the macro factor that gives influence after the presence of Jogja Ora Didol song.

Abstract

Many of today's generation are unfamiliar with Purwa shadow puppets, both in terms of figures and symbolic meanings. Despite the fact that there are many noble values that can be used as a source of character education for the younger generation as future leaders of the nation. This study was designed using a phenomenological qualitative approach. In-depth interview techniques, content analysis, and a literature review were used to collect the data. The validity of the data was determined by using the source triangulation technique and interviewing informants. Data analysis was carried out using the flow model of analysis technique, which included cyclical stages such as data collection, reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results reveal that Buta Cakil and Harjuna are symbols of two contradictory realities that exist in the Javanese cultural value system, mirrors of complementary pairs. The paradox of good-bad, smooth-violence, victory-loss, black-and-white, brightness-darkness, etc. The fine art of the two figures is part of Javanese culture in that it instills life values taught to the community so that their lives are safe and prosperous both outwardly and inwardly.

Abstract

The film "Imperfect" (2019) is an Indonesian film that tells the story of the pressure in women's lives related to their body shape. A woman's body that does not conform to developing standards will be pressured to conform to existing standards. Symbolic violence that occurs against women is happening nowadays, and society considers beauty to have an ideal physique, regardless of one's qualities, but women who have an ideal physique are more valued and more attractive. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data collection technique used is observation on imperfect films. To answer this problem, the researcher uses the theoretical approach of critical discourse analysis and symbolic violence from Pierre Bourdieu. The results showed that; 1) discourse about women who have an ideal body, have white skin, are tall, and have straight hair are always considered as women who deserve attention and always get their own privileges; 2) Discourse related to the standard of beauty for women has developed and can lead to symbolic violence because women who do not meet the standards of beauty set above will always be marginalized and compared as a form of symbolic violence.

Abstract

The background of the problems in this study is based on the problems that occur today where lectures are often identified with the existing busyness, be it busyness in the campus environment or outside the campus. Burnout is triggered as a result of stress that is not resolved, causing loss of enthusiasm, decreased performance in learning, and even a decrease in the desire to interact or socialize with people around it,  so that it leads to a condition where a person will withdraw from the environment. There are three aspects to burnout, namely emotional fatigue, depersonalization, and low self-esteem. The purpose of this study is (1) To find out an overview of burnout that occurs among students, especially PGSD study programs (2) To find out the magnitude of the influence caused by high burnout rates on student learning motivation. This type of research is a qualitative research involving the subjects in this study are as many as 15 students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program at Pelita Bangsa University, located in Cikarang and at the Jakarta State University. The approach is carried out using the case study method. Emotional fatigue in students is characterized by feeling tired and not being excited in doing assignments. When experiencing burnout, a person's emotional state becomes unstable, such as irritability, despair, and cynicism. Emotional fatigue results in the draining of a person's emotional source which will then interfere with his mental state and even his physical health.
