This research aims to analysis the impact of paddy’s harvested area, rice’s productivity, populations, and rain intensity on food securities in 29 districts on Province of Central Java. The analysist consists of four  independent variables used secondary data (panel analysis) with cross-section on 29 districts in three years, from 2018 to 2020 (data time series). The tool of analysis used is the regression method (panel analysis) called fixed effect model (FEM), all of data is processed by Eviews 11 SV (x64). The result shows that paddy’s harvested area, rice’s productivity, populations, and rain intensity are significant to food securities. As partial shown of the variable 1) Paddy’s harvested doesn't have significant correlation to food securities and has positive correlation to food securities. 2) The productivity of rice has a significant and negative correlation to food securities. 3) The variable of populations has significant and negative correlation to food securities. 4) The Rain’s intensity doesn't have significant correlation and has positive correlation to food securities. The results of classic assumption-test indicates that the model of the regression (panel analysis) are independent from normalities, multicollinearities, autocorrelations, and heteroscedasticities.

Abstract

Cianjur Regency is known as the top ten rice producers in West Java, precisely in the fifth position. Rice from Cianjur is not only known at the local level, but also known at the regional and even national level. One of the well-known rice varieties is the pandanwangi variety, namely the local bulu variety (javanica) Cianjur Agriculture Service, 2011. This rice variety has several advantages, in addition to delicious taste, pandanus fragrance and the price is much more expensive than premium rice. However, recently the pandanwangi rice planting area continues to decrease, even in 2017 the harvest area is only 14 930 hectares. This phenomenon indicates that there is a discrepancy between the behavior of farmers and the support of the government, which makes pandanwangi rice an icon of the city of Cianjur. The question arises how the behavior of farmers in farming pandanwangi rice. The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions and motivations of farmers to plant pandanwangi rice; and farmers' income from pandanwangi rice farming. Design This study uses a quantitative design with a survey technique on 88 farmers in Warungkondang District, Cianjur. The results of the research on farmers' perceptions of the geographical environment are very supportive; government support is very good, and the motivation of farmers to plant fragrant pandan rice in addition to maintaining the availability of household food, has made pandanwangi an icon of the city of Cianjur.

Abstract

Ciamis Regency is one of the coffee-producing areas in West Java that has good potency for the development of local coffee. Suitable land conditions and the development of coffee shops in the downstream sector provide hope for farmers to produce coffee that is acceptable to a growing market. However, so far coffee marketing has only been done conventionally through intermediary traders which have been carried out for generations without the right marketing strategy following the conditions faced by farmers. This study aims to determine the 4P marketing mix strategy according to the conditions faced by farmers. The results of the study show that in the product marketing mix, the development of human resource capabilities is prioritized because good human resources can facilitate farming businesses to produce quality coffee beans. Then in the price marketing mix, coffee quality is prioritized because it is the most determining factor in the selling price of coffee. Then in the place marketing mix, distance from consumers is a priority factor because it can make coffee distribution more efficient. Meanwhile, in the promotion marketing mix, the coffee promotion event factor is prioritized because it can encourage local coffee to be better known by the public.

Abstract

Weak capital and market information encourage farmers to access agricultural institutions, one of which is cooperatives. Most farmers prefer using the services of middlemen to cooperatives. This condition is influenced by differences in farmers' use of services, one of which is motivation. This study aims to (1) analyze the motivations of farmers to use and not use cooperative services; and (2) analyze the impact of needs, production facility availability, ability to develop, opportunities for advancement, credit availability, credit procedures, market guarantees, environmental conditions, and policy agencies on farmer motivation in using cooperative services. This research was conducted from February to March 2022 in Dlepih Village, Tirtomoyo District, Wonogiri Regency. The research method used a survey method. The sampling method used a complete enumaration method with 36 farmers as respondents. The data used was primary and secondary data. Data collection was done by interviews and observation. The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The result showed that farmers' motivation for using and not using cooperative services fell into the high category. The t-test demonstrates that need, ability to improve, opportunity to progress, market guarantees, and agency rules have a significant positive effect, while price affordability has a significant negative effect on farmers' motivation. As a result, it's critical to recognize the importance of understanding agricultural institutions, as well as changes in service, organizational, and financial readiness.

Abstract

Seaweed is one of the important export fishery commodities in Indonesia. The study aims to analyze factors affecting seaweed commodity exports in Southeast Sulawesi Province. This research uses quantitative approach methods. The data used is secondary data of quarterly time series in the time span between 2017-2021. The data source was obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the Fisheries and Marine Service. The data is analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the dollar exchange rate, seaweed production, and inflation simultaneously had a significant effect of 96.76 percent on the value of seaweed exports in Southeast Sulawesi. Variable dollar exchange rate and production have a significant effect, on the export value of seaweed. Production negatively affects the value of exports, if seaweed production rises by one million tons then the export value decreases by Rp 7,029.54. The value of the dollar exchange rate has a positive effect on the value of seaweed exports, if the value of the dollar rate rises by a thousand rupiah then the export value of seaweed increases by Rp 216,593.50. Inflation has no significant effect on the export value of seaweed. The value of the dollar rate is the most important variable in influencing the value of sea exports.

Abstract

Indonesian gambier exports to India undergone a significant change. The impact of macroeconomic conditions on the volume of Indonesian gambier exports to the Indian market has never been analyzed. The aim of study was to examine the response and contribution of the price of gambier, the exchange rate of the rupiah against the US dollar, inflation (general) Indonesia and the volume of world gambier exports to the Indian market using the VAR/VECM analysis approach. Data were analyzed during 1990 to 2020 (30 periods). The results showed that changes in the volume of Indonesian gambier exports to India in the past had a significant effect on the export volume of gambier itself. In the long term, all macroeconomic variables have a significant effect on the volume of Indonesian gambier. The model is for the next 10 years, with a pattern of increasing contribution of macroeconomic variables. The projection results show that the most dominant variability of Indonesian gambier export volume to India is still explained by the Indonesian gambier export volume (EXPIDN) itself with a proportion of 92%. Meanwhile, for macroeconomic conditions, the price of gambier (PRC) contributed 4.95%, inflation (INF) was 1.92%, the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar (KRS) was 0.79%, and the world gambier volume (WRD) was 0.33%. The results of this analysis can be used as a strategic step in establishing Indonesian gambier trade regulations that stimulate an increase in gambier exports to the world market.

Abstract

Nationally, the large number of smallholders in Indonesia with small land tenure, individual and traditional management patterns have prevented Indonesian agriculture from reaching the desired economic scale. Based on this aim of this study was to determine the livelihoods and livelihood strategies of dryland smallholders. The results show that the livelihood assets that play an important role in the livelihood strategy of smallholders are the social capital of land tenure in the form of acquisition of teseng land and sanra land (land pledge agreements) to conduct agricultural activities and implement livelihood strategies. Livelihood strategies carried out by smallholders in drylands are mostly still in the agricultural (off-farm) sector, namely the strategy of intensification of agricultural land by diversifying cropping patterns in paddy fields and land. in the dry season by planting seasonal crops on dry land. like peanuts. To maintain a year of food subsistence and increase the economic resilience of smallholders, they are implementing a dual livelihood strategy in the non-agricultural sector, such as space engineering by migrating gardening to other provinces. One of the activities of the smallholder dual income strategy is to develop a cocoa plantation and become a construction worker for a project in their village which is a non-farm sector activity. A forward-looking sustainable livelihood strategy for smallholders is through the development of intensive agroforestry diversification by planting legumes, peppers, tomatoes and ginger.
