Abstract

Cayenne pepper is a horticultural commodity that affects the inflation rate. This study aims to determine the value chain and value added to chili commodities in East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province, so that potential increases and value distribution in the cayenne pepper marketing chain can be mapped. Primary data was obtained through semi-structured interviews conducted with actors involved in the cayenne pepper supply chain, which were traced using the Rapid Market Appraisal technique. Value chain analysis is performed to calculate added value at each level of supply chain actors. The results of the analysis show that in general there are 4 lines in the supply chain for cayenne pepper before it reaches the final consumer, namely farmers, collectors, wholesalers and retailers. In this chain, farmers gain the largest proportion of added value compared to other actors.

Abstract

Agricultural extension workers are required to keep up with the times in carrying out their role as a bridge of information for farm business actors. The imbalance between the number of extension workers and the fostered villages makes the extension workers work around it by utilizing the use of the internet for effective and efficient extension. As well as the occurrence of the Covid-19 pandemic has made extension workers accustomed to conducting counseling and providing material using an online meeting platform that is still carried over today because of its ease of reaching farmers. This study aims to describe how the level of internet usage has been applied by extension workers and analyze what factors are related to the level of internet usage. This research was conducted in agricultural extension centers in Bandung Regency. The variables used were characteristics, level of internet usage, information needs, and frequently used sites. The research design used was descriptive quantitative with non-parametric rank spearman correlation analysis tool and sampling technique using Roscoe method. The level of internet usage seen from the frequency of use in one working week is high with a percentage of 62.5% using the internet more than 4-5 working days in one week, while when the duration of internet usage it is still relatively low with a majority of 65% using the internet 2-3 hours per working day. Factors associated with internet use are characteristics of extension workers (education) and sites or applications that are frequently used (Ministry of Agriculture website and Whatsapp).

This study aims to identify the risks that occur in the supply chain activities and obtain mitigation to handle priority risks in the supply chain activities of mahkota dewa tea in CV Salama Nusantara.. The design applied in this research is quantitative with case study research techniques. Based on the research results, there are 31 risk events and 15 risk agents in the mahkota dewa tea supply chain at CV Salama Nusantara. There are six priority risk agents, namely scarcity or disruption of raw material supply, dependence on only one supplier, human error, distant supplier location, main or supporting raw materials unavailable, and disruptions during transportation. Furthermore, risk mitigation that needs to be done by CV Salama Nusantara includes creating contracts with suppliers, managing raw material inventory, planning safety stock of raw materials, searching for new suppliers, planning transportation modes for raw material delivery, distributing job descriptions to employees, evaluating supplier performance, improve SOP, arranging production areas, and making agreements with shipping service providers regarding product delivery quality assurance.

Abstract

Urban farming is an attempt to utilise the limited space available in urban areas for ecological, aesthetic, financial purposes and to fulfil food needs in urban areas. Urban farming in Makassar City is developed by forming farmer women groups (KWT) in each alley by producing a variety of commercially useful crops, such as chillies. Chilli is an important commodity as it is a major contributor to inflation. To increase the availability, quantity and quality of chillies, urban agriculture has the potential to become a platform for agribusiness development. This research aims to identify internal and external environmental conditions, formulate and determine priority strategies in the development of urban farming-based agribusiness of chilli commodities in Makassar City. This research was approached with SWOT analysis and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results showed that the agribusiness development strategy is in quadrant I (Growth oriented strategy) with alternative priorities namely improving the quantity and quality of chilli production through the use of assistance and technology, increasing the motivation of KWT members, maximising the use of technology by utilising cultivation and processing technology and collaborating with other KWT.

Abstract

Developing knowledge about healthy and halal food can help individuals choose the type of food that suits their nutritional and health needs. However, even though knowledge on this matter has grown rapidly, there are still many challenges in applying this knowledge in everyday life. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge regarding healthy and halal food and consumption patterns. The data used in this study are secondary data obtained through the results of the questionnaire. The data analysis technique used is a nonparametric statistical test including the Chi-Square test with representation using cross tabulation. The results of this study indicate that respondents understand healthy foods as foods that are slightly processed, foods that contain little sugar, flour, and carbohydrates, and foods that predominantly contain vegetables and fruits. Furthermore, respondents understood that halal food is processed food that contains additional ingredients that have been approved by the government because there is a safe quality label and food that has received a halal certificate is listed on the label. The next result is that there is no significant relationship between knowledge of halal and healthy food and consumption patterns (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner).

Abstract

Ciamis Regency is one of the main areas for horticultural agriculture in West Java for chili commodities, where there are five sub-districts as the main contributors to chili production, including Sukamantri, Panumbangan, Panjalu, Cihaurbeuti and Panawangan sub-districts. The aim of this research is to see whether there are significant differences in chili production and evaluate the production levels of the five sub-districts in Ciamis Regency during the period 2018 to 2022. The data collection method uses library research using secondary data taken from BPS Ciamis Regency. One Way ANOVA test was carried out to test the proposed hypothesis. The results of the research show that there are significant differences in chili production between Sukamantri sub-district and four other sub-districts, namely Panjalu, Panumbangan, Cihaurbeuti and Panawangan sub-districts. However, there are no significant differences between the four sub-districts, so it is assumed that the average production output is almost the same.

Government policy to strive for the welfare of farmers, allocate the Tobacco Product Excise Revenue Sharing Fund (DBHCHT) to the form of fiscal decentralization which is distributed to tobacco-producing provinces to be used as improving the quality of raw materials, industrial development, social environment development, subsidence and assistance for seeds, seeds, fertilizers and production infrastructure as well as socialization of provisions in the excise sector to achieve sustainable agricultural development goals. The largest tobacco producing areas in Bojonegoro Regency include Kedungadem, Kepohbaru, Sugihwaras, Sumberjo and Baureno.  Therefore, with this policy, it is necessary to know the strategic priorities in the development of environmentally friendly tobacco agribusiness in accordance with the concept of the dimension of sustainable agricultural development which uses five dimensions, namely ecological, economic, social, institutional and technological with the Analytic Network Process (ANP) method. The study used primary data with questionnaire tools to expert respondents, namely the Head of the Bojonegoro Food Security and Agriculture Office, 5 agricultural extension workers and heads of farmer groups and 100 tobacco farmers in Bojonegoro Regency. There are 6 sustainable agribusiness development strategies, namely improving the production and quality of tobacco organically, regular counseling, tobacco agribusiness integrating between subsystems, the existence of financial institutions for the expansion of farmer capital, expanding partnerships between tobacco farmers and the private sector and the government and finally agricultural technology assistance for farmers. The main priority of the sustainable agribusiness development strategy is to improve the production and quality of tobacco organically.
