Abstract

Today, commentators use scientific interpretation to investigate various types of knowledge presented by the Qur’an, such as some modern commentators combine scientific studies of fruits cited in the Qur’an with their medicinal properties, such as olives (Olea Europea). According to Al-Baqi, there are at least 7 (seven) verses that mention ‘Zaitūn’ (olives), which are spread across seven different letters. The purpose of this article is to dissect the anatomy of classical and scientific interpretations of the olive fruit in the Qur'an. In the scope of library research, this study employed a thematic method that refers to the literature on commentary books, scientific miracles books of the Qur’an about fruits, and articles in reputable journals. According to the findings of this study, olives are known as the name of a blessed fruit that has advantages over other fruits in several interpretations of the Qur'an. There are various interpretations of the word ‘Zaitūn’; some argue that it refers to the location where many figs and olives grow, namely Jerusalem, where Prophet Isa was born and received revelation. Whereas, scientific interpretation reveals that olives are effective as herbal medicines capable of treating a variety of diseases such as treating the digestive tract in general (particularly the liver), lowering the risk of high blood pressure, treating joint problems in both hands, and lowering the risk of cancer.

Abstract

Deconstruction of Understanding of Surah Al-Qashash Verse 56 Against the Justification of Abu Talib's disbeliefThis paper discusses the deconstruction of the interpretation of the justification of the mufassirin scholars regarding the disbelief of Abu Thalib as the uncle of the Prophet Muhammad in understanding surah al-Qashas verse 56. The author approaches by understanding the tafsir al-ma'tsur. So it can be concluded that Abu Thalib lived in a state of faith and died in a state of faith

Abstract

A Critical Study of Muhammad Al-Ghazali's View of the Âhâd Hadith in the Book of As-Sunnah Al-Nabawiyyah Baina Ahl Al-Fiqh Wa Ahl al-HaditsOne of the leading contemporary muhaddist scholars who came from Egypt is Sheikh Muhammad Al-Ghazali. Among his monumental works in the study of hadith is a book of hadith criticism entitled "as-Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah baina Ahl al-Fiqh wa Ahl al-Hadîts". This article seeks to explain how Sheikh al-Ghazali's views in providing a method for understanding authentic hadiths and the position of ahad hadith as the basis of Islamic law as well as some of his criticisms of the weaknesses of the observations of some ahad hadith even though in some assessments of classical scholars it falls into the category of sahih hadith. The method used in this paper is content analysis, which examines the thoughts of Sheikh Muhammad al-Ghazali on the book he wrote regarding the hadith of ahad, with an empirical rationality approach The ahad hadith that are used as examples in Shaykh al-Ghazali's criticism in this paper are the hadith about flies and the hadith about the prohibition of songs and music. For Sheikh Al-Ghazali, it is not a problem for someone not to practice the hadith Ahad, even if it is authentic (shahih), as long as the hadith is not about faith and the pillars of Islam, such as not practicing the hadith about flies and musics, because this will not damage and disturb one's faith and Islam.

In order to obtain the data in this study, the researcher used direct observation methods, extracting the information through interview and documentation based. The research findings confirmed that the Tablighi Jamaat defined the term of sunnah tends to lead to the definition that narrated by Hadith scholars. The definition of hadith in question is all things that are relied on the Prophet Muhammad either when he has been appointed as a prophet or afterward (Qabla al-Bi’stah ay Ba’dahu), including every word and deed, nature and things. Therefore, there is an understanding that the Tablighi Jamaat becomes necessary to follow everything that came from the Prophet Muhammad. Those all were stated as sunnah, even though the practice of the Prophet Muhammad was in the capacity of an ordinary human being. In general, the Tablighi Jamaat used the works of Maulana Muhammad Zakaria Yusuf al-Kandahlawi and Maaulana Muhammad Yusuf al-Kandahlawi as references in worships and charity. Moreover, the Muntakhab Ahadis and Fadhail A’mal books are the main consumption in every taklim and recitation activities (read; bayan) of the congregation.
