Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of group activity-based Islamic Religious Education learning in enhancing student engagement, which includes active participation in discussions, collaboration among students, and students’ involvement in expressing opinions during the learning process. Data were collected at SMA Negeri 1 Bangsri through observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The research subjects consisted of Islamic Religious Education teachers and tenth-grade students involved in group activity-based learning. The results indicate that the implementation of group activity-based Islamic Religious Education learning through discussions and presentations significantly increases student engagement, as reflected in higher levels of active participation, collaboration among students, and confidence in expressing opinions. Teachers play a role as facilitators who guide discussions and ensure the involvement of all group members. These findings imply that group activity-based learning strategies are able to create a more interactive and meaningful learning environment in Islamic Religious Education, although their implementation still faces challenges such as time limitations and unequal distribution of group tasks.

Abstract

Humans are superior and better creatures than other creatures of Allah Ta'ala, and humans are the only creatures that can be educated. This study aims to analyze the relationship between humans and education based on the perspective of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas's thoughts. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method through a review of relevant literature regarding Al-Attas's thoughts regarding the nature of humans, the nature of education, and the relationship between humans and education. While many studies explore Al-Attas' thoughts, most focus on Al-Attas' view on human being and education in general. However, little research examines Al-Attas' view on direct impact of education on humans. This study addresses this gap by investigating the relationship between humans and education, offering new insights into the positive impact of education on humans. The results of this study indicate that based on Al-Attas's perspective, humans have a dual nature and the potential for reflection and intelligence that make them special creatures. Al-Attas argues that the concept of ta'dib is the most appropriate concept for education. The relationship between humans and education from Al-Attas's perspective can be described into three points. First, education strengthens the dual nature of humans. Second, education leads humans to the purpose of their creation. Third, education improves the social order. The findings of this study highlight several areas requiring further attention, leading to the following recommendation for both future research and practical application; Future research should explore Al-Attas’ view on the concept of humanity education, and the findings should be applied on education system.

Abstract

This study addresses the need for a spiritually grounded basis for cultivating honesty and trustworthiness in Islamic character education by examining how the tawhidic theology of Surah Al-Fatihah can be translated into an educational framework. The research aims to identify tawhid-based ethical values in QS. Al-Fatihah (1):1–7 and explain their relevance for forming integrity-oriented character outcomes. Employing qualitative library research, the study analyzes the Qur’anic text as primary data and tafsir literature, tawhid studies, and character education scholarship as secondary data, using structured thematic analysis through verse-based coding, categorization of ethical themes, and mapping procedures to connect theological values with character constructs. The analysis yields six core values rububiyyah (divine lordship), rahmah (compassion), eschatological accountability (hisab), ikhlas (sincerity), isti‘anah (reliance on God), and hidayah (divine guidance)—which correspond to four character outcomes: moral responsibility, integrity, spiritual resilience, and ethical orientation. These findings indicate that internalizing tawhidic values strengthens internal self-regulation (muraqabah), empathetic truthfulness, and consistent trustworthiness rooted in divine accountability rather than social conformity. Educationally, the model supports reflective pedagogy, moral habituation through ritual practice, and the cultivation of an integrity-based school culture, positioning Surah Al-Fatihah as a compact ethical curriculum for curriculum design and teacher formation across diverse educational settings.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of Islamic Parenting from the perspective of Islamic education and analyze Jamal Abdurrahman's thoughts on child rearing based on Islamic values. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection was carried out using literature review, content analysis, and documentation methods. The results of the study show that Islamic Parenting is a process of child rearing based on Islamic values and centered on the teachings of tauhid as the main foundation of education. The instillation of tawhid from an early age is considered important to form a strong spiritual foundation, accompanied by the fulfillment of children's physical and spiritual needs. Parenting in Islam not only emphasizes physical aspects but also includes character building, worship habits, and instilling a love for the Qur'an and Sunnah to shape children's characters to be faithful and noble. In addition, Jamal Abdurrahman, in his work Aṭfālu al-Muslimīn Kaifa Rabbāhum an-Nabiyyu al-Amīn Ṣalallahu ‘Alaihi wa as -Salām, puts forward a concept of child education that is divided into five stages of development, infancy (0-3 years), childhood (4-10 years), early adolescence (11-14 years), late adolescence (15-18 years), and pre-marital age period. This division provides systematic guidance for parents and educators so that children's education can be optimally tailored to their stage of development and needs.

Abstract

This research is motivated by variations in learning motivation and student learning outcomes in the Islamic Cultural History (SKI) subject at MTs Nahdlatul Ulama 1 Marabahan, which indicates the need for empirical studies on internal factors that influence learning achievement. This study aims to determine the level of student learning motivation, describe IS learning outcomes, and analyze the influence of IS learning motivation on learning outcomes. Using a quantitative approach with a survey method, data were collected through a SKI learning motivation questionnaire and IS report card documentation, then analyzed using descriptive statistics, prerequisite tests, Pearson correlation, and simple regression. The results showed that student learning motivation was in the medium-high category (73.13%), and IS learning outcomes were in the good category with an average of 79.69. There was a positive and significant influence between learning motivation and learning outcomes with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.55 and a contribution of 30%. This study concluded that learning motivation is an important factor in improving IS achievement and provides scientific contributions related to strengthening students' internal factors in Islamic religious education learning.

Abstract

This study examines the evaluation of Islamic education policy in Indonesia in the context of the information disruption and post-truth era. Rapid technological advancements and the widespread influence of digital media have significantly transformed educational paradigms, creating both challenges and opportunities for Islamic education. The research explores how existing policies respond to issues such as misinformation, moral degradation, and the shifting learning culture among students. Using a qualitative approach and policy analysis framework, this paper identifies gaps in implementation, particularly in digital literacy, teacher competence, and curriculum relevance. The findings suggest that Islamic education policy must be adaptive, inclusive, and innovative—integrating technological literacy with moral and spiritual values to maintain relevance in the digital age. Strengthening collaboration among stakeholders, updating curriculum content, and promoting critical thinking are key strategies to ensure that Islamic education contributes effectively to character building and national development in the post-truth era.

Abstract

The arrival of Islam in Buton gave birth to a form of integration between Islamic teachings and local wisdom, reflected in the religious literary tradition. One important representation of this process is Kabanti Bula Malino by Sultan Muhammad Idrus Kaimuddin Ibnu Badaruddin Al-Buthuni (1824–1851), a sultan and cleric who played a role in the formation of Islamic culture in Buton. This article aims to examine the Islamic educational values contained in Kabanti Bula Malino and explain the position of kabanti as a medium of education based on local culture. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research. The primary data source is the text of Kabanti Bula Malino, while secondary data sources include books, journal articles, and relevant previous research. Data analysis is carried out using a semiotic and hermeneutic approach to interpret the symbols, language, and meaning of Islamic educational values contained in the text. The research results show that Kabanti Bula Malino contains Islamic educational values, including awareness of death, purification of the soul (tazkiyatun nafs), asceticism toward the world, and ethical leadership. These values are conveyed through the local Wolio language with Pegon Arabic script, so that Islamic teachings can be understood contextually by the Butonese people. Thus, Kabanti Bula Malino functions not only as a religious literary work, but also as a medium for Islamic education that plays a role in character formation, preserving local wisdom, and strengthening the Islamic identity of the Butonese people.

Abstract

Studies on Qur’anic learning in TPQ institutions tend to rely on traditional methods that focus solely on repetition of memorization and recitation, without incorporating innovative or creative approaches. This study aims to analyze the integration of calligraphy in Qur’anic learning, its impact on students’ interest and learning motivation, and its contribution to the development of religious character. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method, using interviews, observation, and documentation as data collection techniques, and data analysis based on the Miles and Huberman model. The findings reveal that (1) the integration of calligraphy in Qur’anic learning is proven to be effective in improving the quality of the learning process, as it provides students with a more meaningful, visual, and enjoyable learning experience; (2) calligraphy integration can enhance students’ interest in learning, as reflected in their increased enthusiasm, active participation, and motivation during Qur’anic lessons; and (3) the integration of calligraphic art contributes to the development of students’ religious character, marked by the emergence of perseverance, discipline, and a deepened love for the Qur’an. These findings affirm that integrating artistic elements into Qur’anic learning can generate positive cognitive, affective, and spiritual outcomes.
