Abstract

This research presents a Decision Support System (DSS) designed to facilitate personalized learning in higher education. Utilizing the Best Worst Method (BWM), a popular Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) technique, the study evaluated various learning strategies against set criteria based on the preferences and priorities of educators at University X. The results revealed One-on-One Tutoring as the most preferred method for personalized learning, followed by technology-enabled strategies such as Online Self-paced Courses and Adaptive Learning Software. These findings provide critical insights into the relative importance of different learning strategies, contributing to the development of a DSS capable of recommending the most suitable approaches for personalized learning. The implementation of such a system has been proposed as a means to augment decision-making processes within educational environments and potentially yield positive impacts on academic achievement. It is advisable to conduct additional research to authenticate these findings in various educational settings and investigate prospects for integrating empirical data into the process of decision-making.

Abstract

In fiqh learning, there are many complex laws, principles, and concepts where this requires encouragement that can improve students' way of thinking. The use of audio-visual learning media is one of the factors that can support this achievement. Video-based learning is a learning tool based on the use of video as a medium. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of animated video instructional media in Islamic jurisprudence learning. Through the meta-analysis method, twenty national journal articles published between 2015-2023 that discussing the use of animated video-based instructional media in fiqh learning were analyzed. The results of the meta-analysis show that the use of animated video instructional media has a highly positive effect on fiqh learning at various levels of education, both elementary, junior high, and high school. Based on the topics of jurisprudence studied, the use of animated video learning media has a significant influence on the topic of procedures for ablution and pilgrimage. Meanwhile, a slightly lower influence occurred on the topic of procedures for prayer, fasting, and zakat. In addition, the use of animated video learning media also has a significant positive influence on learning aspects which include understanding concepts, learning motivation, critical thinking skills, and information retention. In terms of increasing understanding of fiqh concepts, the use of animated video learning media has a higher influence compared to other learning methods, such as power points, textbooks, and group discussions. This shows that animated video learning media is effective in helping students understand the concept of Islamic law better. The results of this study provide empirical evidence that supports the effectiveness of using animated video instructional media in Islamic jurisprudence learning.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the result of the instructional analysis of the learning design of Translation I and II courses used at one of the public universities in Jambi. Using the Dick and Carey’s model, this research focuses on two steps analysis: goal analysis and subordinate skills analysis. The data used was the syllabus of Translation 1 and Translation II courses which have been used previously. However, there is a crucial need to evaluate the quality of the learning design to improve the students’ learning outcomes. The results of the analysis showed that 1) the learning objectives need to be described in detail regarding the competencies students will achieve. 2) There is no description of competencies that lead to translation skills, so the portion of learning that emphasizes cognitive aspects is more than psychomotor and affective aspects. 3) Learning materials put more emphasis on the process rather than the products. 4) It does not describe practical translation approaches, methods and strategies but rather the translation process, such as translation history or translation difficulties. 5) Evaluation of translation learning needs to be described in detail because it only focuses on knowledge/cognitive aspects rather than the translation learning process.

Abstract

Effective management is a critical component in the success and development of any organization, and educational institutions are no exception. Effective management is particularly essential in the context of Islamic education, where it is crucial for achieving educational objectives and fostering students' moral and ethical values. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in studying management in Islamic education, resulting in numerous studies on the topic. However, despite the increasing attention to management in Islamic education, there is a lack of comprehensive and systematic reviews of the literature. Bibliometric analysis provides an objective and quantitative approach to address this gap by mapping the research trends, themes, and gaps in the literature. This study aims to conduct a systematic review of management in Islamic education using bibliometric analysis. Specifically, it seeks to answer the following research questions (RQ): a) What are the research trends and patterns in the literature on management in Islamic education, b) What are the primary themes and concepts related to management in Islamic education, c) What are the research gaps and opportunities for future studies. By answering these questions, this study aims to provide a thorough and current review of the literature on management in Islamic education. The results may be beneficial for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners in the field of Islamic education to better understand the current state of research and identify areas for further research and development.
