Abstract

Developing students' 21st-century competencies—critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity (4C)—remains a significant challenge, especially in remote and resource-limited schools. This study investigates the effectiveness of a Deep Learning STEAM model in improving 4C skills among elementary students. A mixed-methods sequential explanatory design was employed with 21 fourth-grade students at SDN Masalima IV, a remote island school in Sumenep Regency, Indonesia. The intervention integrated Deep Learning principles (meaningful, mindful, joyful learning) into a five-phase STEAM model: Observation, New Idea, Innovation, Creativity, and Society. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests of 4C skills, classroom observations, interviews, and student project documentation. Quantitative data were analyzed using paired-sample t-tests, while qualitative data underwent thematic analysis. Statistical analysis showed a significant increase in students’ 4C scores from a mean of 47.19 to 81.67 (p 0.001), with a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 4.72) and normalized gain (n-gain = 0.75). Thematic findings revealed enhanced student engagement, reasoning, collaboration, and creative output during project-based learning, supported by increased self-confidence and reflective thinking. The Deep Learning STEAM model proved effective in enhancing 4C skills within a low-resource context by aligning cognitive depth with interdisciplinary and experiential learning. It offers a scalable, context-sensitive strategy for implementing 21st-century skills education in remote areas.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of information and technology has influenced Indonesian students’ culture, mindset, and goal-setting strategies. The Pancasila Student Profile (PSP) is essential in 21st-century education, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study aims to explore the implementation of the PSP in schools and identify the challenges in achieving SDGs. This research employs a quasi-qualitative approach, utilizing interviews, observations, and documentation for data collection. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, involving data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The PSP Strengthening Project in schools contributes to SDGs through various activities: (1) producing anti-thirst fruit juice, fostering diversity, patriotism, cooperation, independence, creativity, and tolerance; (2) utilizing school land to cultivate sweet potatoes, promoting devotion to the creator, critical thinking, and creativity; and (3) creating pottery, enhancing diversity, patriotism, cooperation, and creativity. Obstacles in implementation include limited collaboration among educators, lack of teacher motivation, and time constraints. These challenges are addressed through socialization, collaboration, teacher motivation, Pancasila values reinforcement, ice-breaking activities, and coordinated scheduling with other subjects. The continuous reinforcement of the PSP through the P5 program significantly contributes to the realization of SDGs. Overcoming implementation challenges requires a systematic approach involving educators, students, and institutional support. The PSP plays a crucial role in fostering students' character development and achieving SDGs. Strengthening collaboration and optimizing instructional strategies are essential for overcoming challenges in implementing the P5 program.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in enhancing entrepreneurial attitudes among graduates of Universitas Jambi. It focuses on how experiential and collaborative PjBL activities contribute to developing key entrepreneurial traits such as proactiveness, creativity, resilience, and adaptability—beyond traditional classroom approaches. Using a Design-Based Research (DBR) framework, this mixed-methods study combines quantitative and qualitative approaches. Data were collected from 384 final-year students through surveys, observations, and interviews. Quantitative analysis employed a paired-sample t-test, while qualitative insights were gathered through in-depth interviews with students and faculty. Statistical findings reveal that PjBL significantly improves entrepreneurial attitudes. The implementation of PjBL showed a t-value of 7.966 for entrepreneurial effectiveness, and a t-value of 2.637 for the influence of entrepreneurial attitude quality—both exceeding the critical t-value (1.6252) at a 5% significance level. These results confirm the positive impact of PjBL on entrepreneurial mindset development. Supporting factors such as faculty mentorship and access to business incubators further strengthened these outcomes. The study concludes that PjBL is an effective pedagogical strategy for fostering entrepreneurial competencies in higher education. It enables students to apply entrepreneurial principles through real-world problem solving, teamwork, and critical reflection. Future studies should explore longitudinal impacts on career outcomes and the integration of digital tools and industry partnerships to maximize PjBL’s effectiveness in entrepreneurship education.

Abstract

Bullying in schools remains a critical yet often underestimated issue, negatively affecting victims and disrupting the broader educational environment. Its long-term consequences include psychological trauma, low self-esteem, and hindered social-emotional development. Addressing bullying requires a comprehensive, value-based approach. This study integrates Charles Taylor’s theory of recognition with educational philosophy to explore bullying prevention strategies. Conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Tanjung, South Kalimantan, the research examines how applying recognition-based principles can foster a more inclusive and respectful school culture. The implementation of recognition-oriented practices significantly improved relationships among students and between students and teachers. Findings indicate a reduction in bullying incidents, alongside notable increases in student self-esteem, social integration, and mutual respect. Students reported feeling more acknowledged and valued, contributing to a more harmonious school environment. These outcomes highlight the potential of a recognition-based framework in addressing bullying. Emphasizing individual identity and diversity helps cultivate an inclusive culture where mutual respect is central. While the study focuses on one school, its implications are relevant for broader educational contexts across Indonesia.

Abstract

Bullying victimization among adolescents is associated with psychological distress, social withdrawal, and decreased academic performance. Social support is a critical protective factor that can mitigate these negative effects. This study investigates the relationship between perceived social support and bullying victim behavior among high school students in Kerinci Regency, Indonesia. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed with a sample of 278 students selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected using two validated instruments: the Delaware Bullying Victimization Scale (DBVS) and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). Instrument reliability was confirmed through a pilot study (Cronbach’s α 0.85). Data analysis included descriptive statistics and simple linear regression using SPSS version 29. Findings revealed a significant positive relationship between social support and reduced bullying victim behavior (R = 0.742, p 0.001), with social support accounting for 59.1% of the variance (R² = 0.591). Among the three dimensions of support, family support was perceived as the highest, followed by support from significant others and peers. The results underscore the importance of strengthening social support systems—especially family support—in mitigating the negative effects of bullying. Interventions that involve families, peers, and school staff can enhance the resilience and psychological well-being of students who experience bullying.
