Abstract

The theme of this paper is the role of the organization and social capital in the process of virtual collaboration. Business environment is constantly changing and the level of intense competition makes organizations  strive to create more sustainable value. For large organization  with large networks, there are geographical limitations that restrict the process of collaboration between its networks. Advances in technology enable and facilitate the organization to collaborate virtually. From the perspective of dynamic capabilities, virtual collaboration is conceptualized as the dynamic changes in the organization's ability to identify, integrate, and apply knowledge assets as learning materials to meet the competitive demands. Virtual collaboration here enables the process of communication and coordination organization, learning, and innovation-related decision-making processes, and process improvement.This paper uses a case study analysis to explore deeply about virtual collaboration and Social Capital in organization. The result  of the analysis in this paper suggests that engagement, transparency, and horizontal nature of the communication process  can encourage new organizational learning but they can only be done   for  business portfolio. More over, this research also reveals that social capital contributes to the enhancement of organization virtual collaboration process. In addition, cultural factors also limit the success of virtual collaboration on  the distribution of information in the organization at lower levels.

Abstract

The underlying reason for conducting the study is need for organic processed food. Producing innovative organic processed food is not an easy task since it requires creativity. The statement of the problem is how to create entrepreneurial interest to produce organic processed food. The study is a qualitative study of which purpose is to describe organic processed food SMEs behavior. There are 7 (seven) informants involved in the study. The setting of the study is SMEs in “Lily go to organic Group” community in Malang, Indonesia. Variables of entrepreneurial interest in organic processed food involve attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. The findings show that creativity influences entrepreneurial interest in organic processed food and it results in creativity. Creativity is also the result of spiritual entrepreneurship that takes understanding towards organic processed food material into consideration. In addition, Lily Group members also take time, capital, raw materials and marketing into account. Another finding reveals that sincerity and strong determination facilitates organic processed food entrepreneurs to work their best. Such determination needs reinforcement from other related party so that the product is accepted by customers.

Abstract

This study aims to extend a model empirical research from the direct effect of the influencing of profitability and the debt ratio toward the Value of stock  to be a new model empirical research of  the mediating effect of Issuer’s action upon the influencing of profitability and debt ratio toward Value of stock. This research was conducted at the  Fishery Company listed in Indonesia Stock exchange period from  2008 to 2014. Structural Equation Model (SEM) by AMOS software 22.00 was used to analyze the data, and the result shows high goodness of fit while the simultaneous and individual tests generate significant result. The result of analysis shows that: (1) the Profitability gives significantly positive influence to Issuer’s Action, (2); the Profitability gives significantly positive influence toValue of stock , (3) the Debt Ratio gives significantly negative influence to Issuer’s Action,  (4); the Debt Ratio gives significantly negative influence to  Value of stock , (5); the Issuer’s Action gives significantly  positive influence to Value of stock , therefore the mediated effect of Issuer’s Action has more strength compared to direct effect of the Profitability and the Debt Ratio toward the Value of stock, so we may conclude that the result evidently shows the Issuer’s Action was able to mediate the influence of profitability and debt ratio toward Value of stock.

Abstract

This study aim is to analyze the effect of training and competence on motivation of women entrepreneurs with mediation of organizational culture which has been rarely studied. This research will fill this gap by conducting research on women entrepreneurs in Indonesia. The uniqueness of this study is the first study to examine micro and small women entrepreneurs in East Java, Indonesia. The samples are 100 respondents. Data was collected by questionnaire that measured by 5-point Likert scale. The data obtained is  analyzedby path analysis with SPSS version 21 software.The results showed that the training and competence directly have positive and significant effects on organizational culture. The results also indicate that training, competencies and organizational culture directly have positive and significant effects on motivation of female entrepreneurs.The calculation of the indirect effect indicate that organizational culture mediates the effect of training and competence on motivation of female entrepreneurs

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of health warnings on cigarette packs which are mortality-themed on repurchase intention, based on the perspective of terror management theory. This study used an experimental method with Indonesian adult smokers as participants. The results indicate that mortality warnings on cigarette packs conveyed in the form of pictures are more effective to influence the perception of health risks, compared to text warnings. The picture of deadly diseases caused by smoking ismore effective than the pictures do not show the deadly disease. Perceived health risk significantly mediates the effect of mortality warning on cigarette repurchase intention. However, smoking self-esteem does not significantly moderate the effect.

Abstract

This paper aims at exploring the contributions of dynamic capabilities and organizational culture in the competitive advantage of agriculture cooperatives in China.This study has used a structural equation model (PLS-SEM) to explore a theoretical model which links various dynamic capabilities, organizational culture and competitive advantage. Empirical confirmation is given by simple random sampling and collected data from 201 agriculture cooperatives in China. This study finds that both dynamic capabilities and organizational culture of the cooperatives in China contribute significant and positiveeffect to their competitive advantage as well.

Abstract

Provinces in the eastern part of Indonesia still have high percentage of residents living below the poverty line. However, some provinces are the producers of food commodities. The One Village One Product (OVOP) movement has been proven to be able to reduce the poverty level and can be implemented in East Indonesia, especially by developing the community-based food industry. The objective of the research is to develop a decision making model to determine the best suitable community-based food industry to be developed optimally in East Indonesia using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). We identify five criteria for the model from the literature and interviews with experts, namely resources, demand, supporting industries, strategy and competitiveness, and supports from government and other parties. We apply the model for the case of East Sumba regency of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province, to select from alternatives, namely cassava, banana, corn and peanut-based food industries. The results show that banana-based industry is chosen as the best-suitable community-based food industry, mainly due to the uniqueness of the banana-based product and high production of banana in the area.

Abstract

The integration of global market has opened today for the foreign products to entry any countries and has threatened the future of women entrepreneurs. Women entrepreneurs have to compete with foreign businessmen who have superiority in terms of funds, technology, infrastructure, market information and government support. Indonesia is one of developing country who encourages the development of rural areas. Women entrepreneurship in rural areas indicated will increase the local economy, creating employment opportunities, and decreasing the poverty currently. One province in Indonesia that successfully promotes the fashion industries to local and international tourist is West Java. This study aims to analyze the effect of network development strategy toward the women entrepreneurs’ satisfaction. Hypothesis were tested by multivariate statistics- Partial Least Square. The population is owners or managers of SMEs in fashion or garment industries. Stratified random sampling is occupied to get 78 women entrepreneurs in West Java. This study shows that network strategy is significantly influenced the women entrepreneurs’ satisfaction Proactive entrepreneur is proved to positively strengthen the impact of network strategy on the women entrepreneurs’ satisfaction. This result becomes a guide for SMEs, especially in fashion or garment industry to support the tourism of West Java.

Abstract

Entrepreneurial intentions among undergraduates students need more indepth study to reveal entrepreneurial intention formation model, intention determinant variables, and how those variables interact each other in  the intention formation process and intention strength level. Personal attitudes and social norms are the most important variable influencing entrepreneurial intentions, besides perceived behavioral control. These three variables are the most important entrepreneurial intentions determinant variable  that each are directly influenced by personal beliefs. Prior research show gender gaps in entrepreneurial activity and there is a significant different entrepreneurial intentions formation process between gender. Entrepreneurship educations are aimed to change all personal beliefs to be more positive to entrepreneurial activity so we could find strong entrepreneurial intentions  among undergraduate students. Empirical test show that entrepreneurship education significantly influence personal attitude dan perceived behavior control to be more favorable in developing entrepreneurship education. Female students tend to value more on non monetary entrepreneurial benefits than male student. Entrepreneurship education strengthen each gender’ tendency to value more what they initially believe.

Abstract

Although learning is a natural process, many of the systems designed to support education do not contribute positively to the experience of students. This paper reports on the design of Skill Tracker, a software system developed at Massey University to manage processes around student skill acquisition, and initially applied to the university’s Veterinary Science program. The software has been designed around guiding ideas relevant to learning in a professional context: the “progress principle” and Communities of Practice. The paper outlines how these ideas have shaped the design of the software. While Skill Tracker enables the university to collect data that informs the management of the Veterinary School, the underlying purpose of the system is to enhance the experience of students. In order to do achieve this goal it is necessary to understand a key dilemma in any educational innovation: the need to integrate technology and pedagogy.
