Abstract

This study aims to address parents’ need for clear, practical, and easy-to-understand guidance in introducing early childhood sexual education. In response to the increasing urgency of preventing sexual violence against children, this research examines the influence and effectiveness of a digital pocketbook as an educational medium to improve parents’ knowledge of early childhood sexual education. The study employed a quantitative research approach using a one–group pretest–posttest design. The research sample consisted of 14 parents of students enrolled at Pembina State Kindergarten, located in Bukit Batu District, Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan. Data were collected through pretest and posttest instruments and a questionnaire to capture parents’ responses to the use of the digital pocketbook. The analysis results demonstrate a significant increase in parents’ knowledge after the intervention, indicating that the digital pocketbook had a positive influence and was an effective learning tool. In addition, parents expressed favorable responses regarding the clarity, accessibility, and usefulness of the digital pocketbook in supporting their understanding of early childhood sexual education. These findings highlight the potential of digital educational media as a practical solution for parental education. The results of this study are highly relevant. They can serve as a reference for parents, educators, and early childhood education stakeholders in strengthening preventive efforts against sexual violence involving young children.

Abstract

This study examines the absence of institutional vision and policy in Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah (MDTA) in Jambi and analyzes its implications for institutional sustainability. This topic is important because MDTA operates under flexible and general regulations, making internal vision and policy crucial for ensuring organizational direction and long-term viability. The research aims to identify the factors contributing to the lack of vision and policy formulation and to assess their impact on the sustainability of MDTA institutions. Using a qualitative research design, data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with the principals of Madrasah Misbahussadah and Madrasah Raudatul Islamiyah in Jambi, and a document analysis of MDTA regulations issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, as well as relevant literature. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The study reveals three main findings. First, MDTA principals lack a comprehensive and formally documented institutional vision, while policies are largely based on personal experience rather than systematic planning. Second, the absence of vision is driven by limited awareness of its strategic importance, inadequate institutional resources and support, and the lack of training in vision and policy formulation. Third, this condition results in weak institutional direction, reduced attractiveness for qualified teachers, uncertainty in decision-making, and challenges to institutional sustainability. The study emphasizes the significance of structured vision development and policy-making in enhancing MDTA governance. Future research is encouraged to explore capacity-building models and policy interventions to support the sustainable management of religion-based educational institutions in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation in the quality of graduates from Hidayatullah College in the Riau Islands Province, focusing on two main aspects: academic competence and Islamic character. The research method used is a mixed-method approach, combining a quantitative component through the distribution of questionnaires to final-year students and alumni (350 respondents) with a qualitative component through interviews with lecturers and graduate users (25 respondents). The study's results demonstrate academic competence. 72% of alumni stated that the course material is relevant to the needs of the world of work, especially in the fields of Islamic education, da'wah management, and Islamic economics. Twenty-eight percent consider the curriculum too theoretical. In terms of Islamic character, the study found that 82% of respondents have discipline in carrying out worship, 85% received positive appreciation from graduate users regarding social morals, and 62% are involved in Islamic leadership activities. This study implies that Hidayatullah College in the Riau Islands has successfully transformed the quality of its graduates by emphasizing strong Islamic character aspects. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a more comprehensive educational model that focuses not only on the religiosity aspect but also on the relevance of graduates.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of intellectual intelligence (IQ), emotional intelligence (EQ), spiritual intelligence (SQ), and social intelligence (SI) in strengthening the morals of students at an integrated Islamic junior high school in Batam City. This study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation with teachers, students, and school officials, and then analyzed thematically to find patterns of relationships between variables. The results show that IQ plays a role in shaping students' moral understanding and ethical awareness. EQ supports self-control, empathy, and moral behavior. SQ strengthens religious motivation and consistency in Islamic morals, while SI facilitates the practice of morals in social interactions. These four aspects of intelligence complement each other, forming a solid foundation for strengthening students' Islamic morals. This research confirms that Islamic education, which integrates IQ, EQ, SQ, and SI, can produce students who excel not only academically but also possess noble character. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for Islamic schools in developing a holistic educational model that balances cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and social aspects to produce a generation of Muslims with character and prepared to face the challenges of the times.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of an entrepreneurship-based hidden curriculum in developing students' independence in the Society 5.0 era. This field research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a case study method, in two Islamic boarding schools: the Sunan Gunungjati Ba'alawy Islamic Boarding School in Semarang and the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School in Purwokerto. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results of the study indicate that the entrepreneurship-based hidden curriculum in both Islamic boarding schools is an effective instrument in instilling the values of student independence. At the Sunan Gunungjati Ba'alawy Islamic Boarding School, the entrepreneurship program encompasses seed sales, cooperatives, fertilizer production, agriculture, agro-farms, and the Micro Waqf Agency, as well as the provision of necessities. Meanwhile, at the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School, it takes the form of a drinking water depot, a convenience store, a mini market, and a laundry. The implementation of the hidden curriculum shapes students' independence in economic, social, emotional, intellectual, and temporal aspects, while fostering a productive, adaptive, and entrepreneurial mindset in accordance with the demands of Society 5.0. This study confirms that Islamic boarding schools play a strategic role in developing a generation of independent, creative, and globally competitive students through entrepreneurship education based on Islamic values.

Abstract

Research on Islamic education in the Philippines has primarily focused on conflict resolution and curriculum integration. At the same time, limited attention has been given to the evolution of institutional governance amid political transitions, particularly in peripheral Muslim-majority regions such as Tawi-Tawi. This study addresses this gap by examining the historical development and governance of Ma’had Tawi-Tawi, the first Islamic educational institution in the province, within the broader framework of national education policy and political transformation. Employing a Systematic Review and Bibliometric Analysis, this research maps global scholarly discourse on madrasa development, governance, and policy alignment. From 600 Scopus-indexed articles published between 2015 and 2025, 90 relevant studies were selected based on peer-review status, English language, and thematic relevance, and analyzed using VOSviewer. The analysis identified four dominant thematic clusters: policy impact, historical development, governance transitions, and leadership dynamics. The findings indicate that Ma’had Tawi-Tawi’s sustainability is closely linked to adaptive leadership and its ability to integrate Islamic educational traditions with national curriculum standards. Nevertheless, constitutional constraints related to the separation of church and state continue to limit direct government funding for religious schools. The Bangsamoro Organic Law, however, provides greater institutional resilience through regional autonomy and legal recognition. Policy recommendations include strengthening intergovernmental coordination, enhancing teacher capacity, and formalizing the integration of curriculum. Future studies should explore comparative governance models across the Bangsamoro region to inform sustainable Islamic education policies.

Abstract

slamic Religious Education learning is still often teacher-centered, limiting students’ active participation and the development of 21st-century skills. This study aims to analyze how the Marketplace Activity (MPA) model and variations in grouping strategies foster the four Cs (communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity) in Islamic Religious Education classrooms. Using a qualitative case study design at a public senior high school in Sidoarjo, data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. The findings show that MPA promotes dynamic and meaningful learning interactions. Heterogeneous groups encourage diverse ideas, dialogic exchange, and critical reflection, while homogeneous groups support task efficiency and clarity of roles. The four Cs emerged as Islamic value-based learning outcomes: value-driven collaborative communication, spiritual-intellectual collaboration, reflective faith-based reasoning, and integrative Islamic creativity. This study concludes that MPA has strong potential as an integrative learning model that connects cognitive skill development with spiritual character formation, making Islamic Religious Education more relevant to the competence and morality demands of the 21st century. Practically, teachers are encouraged to design student-centered activities, apply flexible grouping structures aligned with learning objectives, and integrate faith-based values with higher-order thinking to strengthen both academic and spiritual outcomes.

Abstract

Work discipline is an essential element of human resource management and a prerequisite for achieving optimal teacher performance. However, preliminary findings in several public elementary schools in the Singorojo District indicate that some teachers still exhibit low levels of discipline in terms of attendance and completion of administrative tasks. This condition suggests the presence of underlying factors affecting teacher discipline, particularly the work environment and work motivation. This study aims to analyze the influence of the work environment and work motivation, both partially and simultaneously, on the work discipline of elementary school teachers. The research employed a quantitative approach with a survey design. The population consisted of 266 elementary school teachers in Singorojo District, and a sample of 160 teachers was selected using proportional sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, as well as prerequisite tests (normality, linearity, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity), and simple and multiple linear regression analyses. The findings indicate that the work environment has a significant influence on teacher work discipline (R² = 0.336). Work motivation also significantly affects work discipline (R² = 0.246). Simultaneously, the work environment and work motivation contribute 40.1% to teacher work discipline (Sig. 0.000). A supportive work environment and high work motivation are proven to enhance the work discipline of elementary school teachers. These findings underscore the importance of enhancing the work environment and bolstering teacher motivation as key strategic efforts for schools. Future research is recommended to explore other potential predictors such as leadership, organizational culture, or workload.

Abstract

Reading comprehension is a fundamental literacy skill that supports students’ learning across various subjects. However, observations in elementary schools show that many students still struggle to understand narrative texts due to limited comprehension skills and the lack of engaging and innovative learning materials. At the same time, technological advancements provide opportunities to develop digital learning media that can enhance motivation and comprehension. One promising innovation is the use of 3D animated stories, which can present narrative content in a more vivid, interactive, and meaningful way. This study aims to develop 3D animated story learning media integrated with the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy to improve the reading comprehension skills of fourth-grade elementary school students. The research employed the ADDIE development model and was conducted at an elementary school in Kudus Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. The developed product consists of 3D animated learning media and a learning guidebook. Validation results from media experts, subject matter experts, and elementary school learning device experts indicated that the product was highly valid. Field testing showed an improvement in students’ reading comprehension, as reflected by higher posttest scores compared to pretest scores. The effectiveness test revealed a high N-Gain value of 0.73. In addition, practicality assessments through student and teacher questionnaires produced very positive results, with scores of 94% and 87.5%, respectively. These findings indicate that 3D animated stories integrated with the DRTA strategy are effective and practical for improving elementary students’ reading comprehension, particularly in narrative text learning.
