Abstract

Dayak onions (Eleutherine Palmifolia (L.) Merr.) bulb stem contains phtyochemical contents, which act as antidiabetic compounds, such as eleutherol, eleuthocide A, and eleutherinoside B, as well as antioxidant compounds, which include triterpenoid, poliphenol, and flavonoid. Dayak onions was able to be used as the antidiabetic, since it had the ability to lower the blood glucose level and prevent from the free radicals, thus supressing the oxidative stress condition. This research had purpose to analyze the effect of Dayak onions bulbstem as antioxidant and anti diabetic drugs. The research used experimental method with the population in this research was 25 male white mice strain wistar. The concentration of Dayak onions bulb-stem extracts were 300mg.kgBW-1, 400mg.kgBW-1, and 500mg.kgBW-1. Data analysis used Tukey HSD Test with 95% of significance degree and was continued using manova test (average group ratio test). The result showed that. the extract of Dayak onions bulb-stem had the antidiabetical and antioxidant activity, which could lower the blood glucose levels and malondialdehid on the male white mice strain Wistar with the optimum effective doze of 500 mg.kgBW-1.Keywords: Dayak onions bulb-stem, Blood glucose level, Malondialdehid (MDA)

Abstract

Health is the very basic needs for every human being. Traditional health system is widely focused on treatment (curative), although there are other efforts, such as prevention (preventive), before treatment effort is done. Regarding the improvement of the public health status, this effort has a very strategic position, as it is cheaper in financing and easy in execution. This research was conducted to analyze the behavioral health concept of traditional cultures found in amulet installation and incense burning ritual in the residence. This research used qualitative method called phenomenology approach, whereas the research data were obtained using literature studeis and indepth interview. The result showed that amulet installation and incense burning ritual on the residence had the meaning to control lust for avoiding impulse behavior that was able to suffer the human life, regarding the fact that health was not only observed in physical aspects. However, if it was reviewed from the modern health science point of view, this behavior had to do with health and/or disease occurence. Factors that influenced health were from internal factor within the body, such as lust control and external factor, such as the environmental condition around the human being, whereas sickness was influenced by behavior, spells, environment, and destiny factors. The prevention efforts to stay healthy was with the natural human behavior and human capability in controlling lust. Keywords: behavior; traditional; lust; health sick concept

Abstract

Public health centers as the spearhead of health services, also provide 'emergency and observation' nursing services, due to the high number of accidents in East Java. The purpose of this study was to develop the nurse's performance model in providing 'emergency and obeservation' nursing services at Puskesgadarsi ('Emergency and Observation' Community Health Center) in East Java, using cross sectional design. The subjects of 120 nurses were selected by multi stage sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and FGDs, and then analyzed using structural equation modeling to produce an model of ‘emergency and observation’ nursing service for nurses at Puskesgadarsi. Components of the model were reinforcing factors, personal factors, cognition factors, affection factors, commitment, interpersonal, reinforcement and nurse performance. Nurses can use this model in providing nursing services with due regard to their knowledge and skills, facilities and infrastructure, as well as interaction and self-reinforcement, so as to be able to perform nursing services 'emergency and observation' well. Abstract

The concentration of learning is the ability to focus the mind on learning activities that can be influenced by breakfast intake as well as hydration status. Based on preliminary study on 10 students, it was found that there were 7 students who did not have breakfast and 8 students chose to consume energy drinks and mixed drinks instead of consuming water when thirst which caused the body to dehydrate. This study aims to analyze the relationship between breakfast intake and hydration status with learning concentration of students in elementary school Pacar Keling 6 Surabaya city, in February 2017 with cross sectional design. The subjects of the study were students of class III, IV and V chosen by random. The result of the analysis using Chi square test showed that there was a correlation between the intake of breakfast with the study concentration (p-value = 0,048) and there was no correlation between the hydration status and the study concentration (p-value = 0,307). It can be concluded that students with poor breakfast intake have low learning concentrations, the effects caused by mild dehydration conditions only in mood (mood) not on concentration and hydration status can be determined by the type of food and beverages consumed. Abstract

Nutritious food giving in under-fives to sustain the growth and development of under-fives optimally required the involvement of family members other than fathers. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between family members' involvement with the mother's nutrition care pattern of poor families in the Mojokerto regency of East Java. This research design was using case control with case population of poor mother with healthy under-five and control population was poor mother with nutritious problem child. Number of case group samples 79 people and control group 41 people. Sampling technique with multi stage sampling. Data collection using questionnaires that have been tested the validity and reliability to 30 people. Data analysis using chi square statistic test. The results showed that the involvement of other family members in the positive deviance mothers was good as much as 35 people (44.30%). In non-positive mother deviance involvement of most other family members were less than 31 people (75.61%), chi square obtained p = 0,000 and value α = 0,05, meaning there was correlation of family member involvement with care pattern of positive deviance mother. The involvement of family members motivated mothers to provide a good nutritional food to under-five children. Keywords: Positive deviance, Under five children, Care pattern, Nutrition
