Abstract

Bonetambung Island is one of small islands of Spermonde Island Group that had limited access to sea transportations and unavailable environmental sanitation facilities. This study aimed to map environmental health risks to identify the areas of environmental health hazard in Bonetambung Island, Makassar. This study was observational descriptive. Respondents in this study were all households in Bonetambung Island as many as 102 households taken by exchautive sampling method. The result showed that the environmental health hazards in Bonetambung Island were hazard related to the source of clean water (71.1%), domestic wastewater (71.2%) and the ownership of garbage (72.5%). Additionally, some unhealthy behaviors that provided an opportunity for exposure to hazards were not-washing-hand-with-soap behavior (54.2%), open defecation behavior (62.7%), not processing and managing household waste (96.1%), and not-treat-drinking-water behavior (25.5%). So that, the mapping of environmental health risks in Bonetambung Island were very high risk category located in RT 03, high risk category located in RT 02, and low risk category in RT 01. Keywords: Risk mapping, Environmental health, Small island

Abstract

1(CA), 2, 3 1(CA), Indonesia;  (Corresponding Author) 2, Indonesia 4, Indonesia ABSTRACT Green tea extract (GTE), Camellia sinensis, known as a very effective antioxidant to repair the damage of organs exposed by stress oxidative. Cypermethrin (CYP) is a harmful substance that can accumulate in the body and cause oxidative stress. This study aimed to demonstrate the effect of GTE in increasing the number of granulosa cells and E2 serum levels. Female rats (Rattus norvegicus) were randomly selected and divided into 5 groups, control group (KN), a group given only CYP 20 mg/kg body weight/day (KP), groups given CYP 20 mg/kg body weight/day and then treated with GTE 7, 14, 28 mg/kg body weight/day (P1, P2, and P3 respectively). Treatment was given for 28 days. The number of granulosa cells was counted by HSel software, E2 serum levels were determined via ELISA ASSAY. Treatment results with GTE 7, 14, and 28 mg/kg body weight/day significantly (p < 0.05) increased the number of granulosa cells and E2 serum levels relative to KN. Administration of GTE 28 mg/kg body weight/day caused the greatest increase in the number of granulosa cells and E2 serum levels. Our result suggests that GTE has potential prevention to stress oxidative by CYP exposure in granulosa cells and E2 serum. Keywords: Cypermethrin, E2, Granulosa Cells, Green tea

Abstract

Nurse competency test passing rate in Indonesia is still below expectations. There is a correlation between GPA at graduation index. However, there is a similar trend between graduation with underachievement and failure indices with higher GPA. It requires a separate study in addition to the theory and practice of academic ability, need to review internal factors themselves students. This study aimed to analyze the influence of the ideal self, motivation, goal, ability, academic performance and adaptation of learning on nursing graduation of competency test, using a cross sectional design on a number of 119 new graduates of nursing students from two universities in Makassar, Indonesia during July-November 2017. Samples were selected by systematic random sampling. Variable observed were ideal self, academic goals, motivation, learning adaptation, academic ability, and competency test graduation. Bivariate analysis were Pearson correlation and Spearman correlation and the multivariate analysis were Logistic regression and Linear regression. The results showed that the ideal self had a positive correlation with academic goals (rs = 0.240, p = 0.008) and motivation (rs = 0.211, p = 0.021). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that motivation (p = 0.019) and academic purposes (p = 0.000) had a significant influence on learning adaptation. Multiple logistic regression test showed that the learning adaptation (p = 0.037), and the academic ability in theory (p = 0.024) had a significant effect on the graduation of competency test. Graduates nurses must have a corresponding ideal self to improve motivation. Motivation directing and encouraging learning behaviors that affect graduation of competency test. Academic goal setting directs graduates to adapt the learning process. Competence of graduates is not enough with just a written test that predicted by the theory of academic ability, but needs to be equipped with a practice test.
