Abstract

Poverty and inequality remains a significant problem in spite of the economy’s swift stride of growth over the past two years in Philippines. This study aimed to assess the poverty-related quality of life among community dwellers in Barangay Poro, City of San Fernando La Union, Philippines. A cross-sectional study using the poverty-related quality of life questionnaire was administered to 99 respondents. Overall, the global index score for the poverty-related quality of life among the respondents was 57.09±9.71. Aged 41-50 years had a significantly poorer relationship with family compared with those who were 31- 40 years old (p

Abstract

Stimulation for children will create intelligent children, can grow and develop optimally, independently and emotionally stable can also adapt . Therefore, stimulation is very important especially at the age of 4-5 years in their first years (golden years) because it can create people who have good personality, intelligence, independence, ethics, skills and productivity. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of the role of parents in stimulating the fine motor development of children aged 4-5 years. The study design was a correlational study, the respondents of this study were children aged 4-5 years. The population is 169 respondents. The sampling technique uses proportional stratified random sampling. The independent variable is the role of parents in stimulation and the dependent variable is the smooth motor development of children aged 4-5 years. Data collection using questionnaires and observation sheets. Data analysis with logistic regression test. The results showed that the three variations in the role of parents did not have a significant effect on stimulation. The active role of parents for the development of children less than 5 years is very important. Conclusion: Parents must participate, provide opportunities to learn, to practice their fine motor skills and provide guidance in the formation of behavior and skills.

Abstract

The 2015 MDG target for maternal mortality rate is to reduce the ratio of up to 110 maternal deaths for every 100,000 births. Until now, MMR in Indonesia is still above 305. Since 2015, the emphasis on safe labor is labor delivered by health workers in health care facilities. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the level of maternal satisfaction in each dimension of the quality of delivery services with maternal loyalty to reuse hospital facilities and recommend them to others. This analytic observational study used a cross-sectional approach. The subjects of this study were 67 mothers who used delivery services at Labuang Baji Hospital, Makassar, which were selected by simple random sampling technique. The study was conducted from October to November 2018, using a measuring instrument developed by researchers. The results showed that the dimensions of the quality of delivery services at the hospital had satisfied patients, starting from the highest level of assurance, reliability, empathy, tangible, and rensponsiveness. These five dimensions correlate significantly with loyalty to hospital reuse and the patient's willingness to recommend these facilities to others. Abstract

Literature regardless of the style and manner of inscription is aimed to connecting the dots and prints of every research. In the review process, literature review strengthen the claim of the researcher on the topic of interest. Authors penned salient attributes in the structure of research literature: 1) establishing degree of persuasiveness, 2) the process of naming literatures for review, 3) provenance, 4) methodology, 5) value-driven literature. Abstract

Filariasis (elephantiasis) is a chronic infectious disease caused by filarial worms and transmitted by Mansonia, Anopheles, Culex, and Armigeres mosquitoes. The worm lives in the canal and lymph nodes with acute clinical manifestations of recurrent fever and lymph node inflammation. This disease is one of the serious public health problems in Indonesia. Almost all regions of Indonesia are filariasis endemic areas, especially in Eastern Indonesia which has a higher prevalence. The provision of mass drugs for filariasis needs to be evaluated for the sustainability of treatment programs for the following year, so that an efficient and effective treatment program model can be found. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the implementation of POMP (Giving Mass Medicines for Prevention) for Filariasis and the factors associated with its success in East Manggarai Regency. The study was conducted in East Manggarai Regency in 2017, with a qualitative approach, using a mixed method, in order to evaluate the success of mass treatment in East Manggarai Regency. Research subjects were family heads who had taken medication, health officers, community leaders, religious leaders, and managers of filariasis control programs; selected by purposive sampling technique. The data collected includes monitoring and evaluation, partnerships, drug availability, drug distribution, the ability of health workers, the presence of health workers, the negative effects of taking medicine, and government policies. Data were collected through interviews and FGDs, then analyzed descriptively with a qualitative approach the results showed that the success of POMP was 83%, with problems namely drug distribution was not evenly distributed, implementation of uneven treatment, monitoring of side effects of drugs was not complete, type of drug was incomplete, frequency of treatment was not regulated, and funding policy support from legislative institutions did not yet exist. Abstract

Candida albicans (C.albicans) is the main causative agent in oral candidiasis. Candida spp is a commensal microorganism or normal flora in the mouth without causing symptoms. Candida spp can be a pathogen when the body's condition decreases, systemic medical therapy for a long time, nutritional deficiencies and poor oral hygiene. This study aimed to determine the predisposing factors for the causes of oral candidiasis in 10-year-old pediatric patients who came to the Department of Oral Medicine, Dental Hospital of Dentistry Faculty of Jember University. The results of this study indicate a relationship between nutritional deficiencies and poor oral hygiene with oral candidiasis in children. White pseudomembranous plaque lesions are mostly found in the dorsal area of the tongue. Therapy for the patients is by applying nystatin anti-fungal, multivitamins, and education to improve nutrition and oral hygiene. Abstract

Programmed physical exercise in athletes causes the cardiovascular system to be more efficient in pumping blood and carrying oxygen to muscles. Indicators of cardiovascular changes during exercise are: oxygen consumption, heart rate, stroke volume, differences in arterial and venous oxygen, blood pressure and blood flow. Some physical components that need to be considered for development include: VO2 max, muscle endurance, strength, flexibility, speed, stamina, agility, and explosive power. Some specific genes are identified as a muscle phenotype response to strength training, namely angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), which converts angiotensin I to angiotensin II. The insertion / deletion (I/D) polymorphism in this gene was found to play a role in variations in the activity of the ACE enzyme, in someone carrying a deletion allele (D) who had higher ACE enzyme activity. The research was carried out at the Organization of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), especially in South Sulawesi Bangkit athletes. The results showed a significant relationship between genetic variation in ACE gene (I/D) with muscle endurance (p-value 0.05). Likewise in sprints and endurance sports, there was no relationship with variations in the ACE gene (p-value >0.05). In conclusion, further research should be on athletes who win the Olympics or World Championships, with a single sports discipline, larger sample sizes and more diverse genetic variations, so that the ACE genotype can be explored and developed in athletes.
