Abstract

This research was intended to identify the correlation between (1) creative thinking and science literacy and (2) scientific attitude and science literacy in the concept of environment pollution. Sample was consisted of 219 eleventh grade science student of MAN Medan that was taken by cluster random sampling method. This study was encompassed phases preparation, action, and post research. The instrument were included to scientific literacy test, creative thinking test and scientific attitude questionary. The results is indicated that (1) there is positive correlation between creative thinking and science literacy with r=0.433 (2) there is positive correlation between science attitude and science literacy with r=0.363. (3) there is positive correlation between creative thinking and science attitude with science literacy with r=0,59. This study implies that reading comprehension and science attitude have important role to improve science literacy skill.

Abstract

This study aims to see the relationship between breakfast, food menu, the spirit of learning and the cost of learning achievement. Breakfast with a menu of foods with adequate nutrition is a source of energy and serves to improve the strength and activity of learning and together with the spirit of learning affect the learning achievement. Breakfast is also associated with the cost, cost savings in the menu and nutrition and breakfast routines will affect the learning achievement. Respondents of this research are FKIP students of Islamic University of Riau in math class as much 132 people and biology class as much 83 people. The study was led by a closed questionnaire. The analysis is done by descriptive correlation and inferential statistic by using binary logistic regression. Some findings obtained that there is a link between breakfast, food menu, the spirit of learning and the cost of learning achievement. Using a 10 percent confidence level, a relatively high probability of achievement, first is cost with probability: 0.815, breakfast: 0.758 and learning spirit: 0.733.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of knowledge about mangrove ecosystems and attitudes towards the preservation of mangrove ecosystems in school students in Serdang Bedagai District. The level of knowledge of students is obtained through the tests of knowledge and questionnaires about the students attitudes toward the preservation of mangrove ecosystems. The results showed that the level of knowledge of high school students in Serdang Bedagai Regency about mangrove ecosystem in general, including enough category with the highest level of knowledge is quite good (60.5%). However, their attitude towards conservation of mangrove ecosystem is categorized as very good (53.8%) and good (42.0%). This indicates that it is necessary to integrate material about mangrove ecosystem in Biology lesson for students who attended school on the East coast of Sumatra.

Abstract

This study was a mixed method sequential explanatory research. This study aimed to obtain information of a relationship between naturalist intelligence and students’ participation in maintaining environmental health and the other factors which influence it. This study was conducted from February to October 2017. The analysis unit was 169 students of one of public junior high school in South Bogor District. Quantitative research results showed that correlation coefficient (ry) between naturalist intelligence and students’ participation in maintaining environmental health was 0,407. This value showed that naturalist intelligence have quite a high contribution to students’ participation in maintaining environmental health. Qualitative research results showed that there are the other factors which can influence students’ participation in maintaining environmental health, such as social interaction with their friends in the home or school environment, students’ understanding of important functions of living things, students’ habit and self-awareness, and guidance from both parents and teachers. Keywords: participation, environmental health, intelligence, naturalist intelligence

Abstract

Penelitian deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk  menjelaskan atau mendeskripsikan motivasi dari 35 orang mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi di salah satu perguruan tinggi di Kota Pekanbaru dalam pembelajaran Biologi Molekuler pada Tahun Akademik 2016/2017.Pembelajaran Biologi Molekuler berlangsung dengan metode ceramah dan tanya-jawab.  Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik angket. Angket yang digunakan adalah angket yang diadaptasi dari Science Motivation Questionnaire II (SMQ-II) yang dikembangkan oleh Glynn, dkk., (2011). Angket motivasi ini terdiri dari lima komponen motivasi, yaitu intrinsic motivation (motivasi intrinsik), career motivation (motivasi karir),self-determination (keteguhan diri), self-efficacy (percaya diri), dan grade motivation (motivasi nilai) dengan 25 pernyataan dan mempunyai 4 skala Likert, yaitu Sangat Setuju (4), Setuju (3), Kurang Setuju (2), dan Tidak Setuju (1). Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa 45,7% mahasiswa motivasinya sangat baik dan 54,3% mahasiswa memiliki motivasi yang baik. Intrinsic motivation merupakan motivasi yang lebih dominan bagi mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran Biologi Molekuler, diikuti oleh grade motivation, self-determination, self-efficacy dan career motivation.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan dan mengetahui efektivitas lembar kerja mahasiswa berbasis Search, Solve, Create, and Share pada mata kuliah ekologi hewan.Penelitian ini dirancang sebagai penelitian Research and Development (R&D) yaitu metode penelitian yang digunakan untuk menghasilkan produk tertentu. Pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran dalam penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian pengembangan dikembangkan oleh Thiagarajan, dkk. (1974). Penelitian ini diujicobakan di STKIP Tapanuli Selatan semester VB. Hasil penilaian ahli terhadap LKM berbasis SSCS menunjukkan LKM hasil pengembangan layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran dengan presentase aspek kelayakan memperoleh 76,96 %. Hasil uji coba menunjukkan bahwa LKM berbasis SSCS efektif dalam pembelajaran. Nilai rata-rata N-gain sebesar 0,65 dengan kategori sedang menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar dari pretest ke posttest. Rata-rata persentase keterampilan berpikir dan aktivitasmahasiswa berturut-turut yaitu 72,77% dan 74,87%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, pengembangan LKM berbasis Search, Solve, Create, and Share layak dan efektif diterapkan dalam mata kuliah Ekologi Hewan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Group Investigation with Project Based Learning model towards higher order thinking. The population of this research were the total, 60 under-graduated students of Simalungun University in fourth semester. They grouped as first experimental class treated by Group Investigation combine with PJBL, for next experimental class taught by Group Investigation and for control class taught by using conventional learning model. The research instrument uses a test result of learning ability of higher order thinking. This study include quasi experimental method. The data were analyzed by helping SPSS 21.0 program using F-test (ANACOVA α = 5% ). The results shown that: The higher order thinking ability of under-graduated students of Simalungun University treated by Group Investigation were significantly high (88,60 ± 3,73; x̄ ± SD) than group investigation class (81,00 ± 4,01 (x̄ ± SD) and conventional class 74,60 ± 3,58 (x̄ ± SD) with (Fhitung=67,742; P=0,000). Therefore, it can be concluded that Group Investigation combine with PJBL were affected the students’ higher order thinking abilities

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of learning media animation, torso, and the image and initial knowledge of students on student learning outcomes on the material digestion system of human food class XI in Private High School Hang Tuah Belawan. The type of research used is quasi experiment with research pretest-postest control group design. Samples were selected using cluster sampling techniques and divided into experimental and conventional classes. In class XI IPA1 applied animation media, class XI IPA2was applied torso media, and class XI IPA3 applied conventional media. Multiple-choice questions are used to measure learning outcomes, while critical thinking skills are essay-based. Data analysis technique using Covarian Analysis (Anacova) at significant level α= 0,05 and continued with Tukey test with SPSS 21.0 software. The results showed that: (1) There is influence of animation media to student learning outcomes (F= 4,266; P= 0.017). Students who were taught by animation media were significantly different from the students who were taught by the image media, but not significantly different from those taught by torso media; and (2) There is influence of students early knowledge to result of student learning (F= 3,662; P= 0,011). Students with high initial ability who were taught by animation media, torso and gambart did not differ significantly with students who had low initial ability that was taught by torso animation media and images. Students who have high initial ability that dibelajarkan with media animation, torso and images significantly higher than students who have low initial ability that dibelajarkan with animation media, torso and gambar.Hasil research shows that learning using animation media and early knowledge is better in giving influence to learning outcomes.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to know the comparison of student achievement and student activity in cooperative learning with TPS (Think-Pair-Share) and with STAD (Student Teams-Achievement Division) at topic of  cell in XI class SMA Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan on academic year 2017/2018. The population of this research was the whole students of grade XI SMA Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan in academic year 2017/2018 which consists of 5 classes with the total number of te students are 250 students. The sample of this research was taken by random sampling, where class XI2, 40 students is as the TPS class and class XI3, 40 students, is as the STAD class. The research was conducted by experiment research in which its objective is to know the comparison of applying the two methods. Based on the data analysis. There is difference between the student achievement of TPS class and that of STAD class in which the average score of TPS class is 80,00. Whereas, the average score of STAD class is 71,30. The student activity also taking part on increase of student achievement, where the percentage of students achievement at TPS class are 86%, as for at STAD class are 79 %. Its mean that the students activity gave a good contribution to increase the student achievement. The difference is proven through hypothesis testing by using t-test and the level of significance α = 0,05, where tacc>ttable­ (4,57>1,99), which means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Finally it is concluded that there is the difference of student achievement and student activity in cooperative learning with TPS (Think-Pair-Share) and with STAD (Student Teams-Achievement Division) at topic of  cell in XI class SMA Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan.

Abstract

Misconception is the notion of a concept that is not right, wrong in using the concept of the name, one of the concepts classify examples, doubts about the different  concepts,  not  right  in  connecting  a  wide  range  of  concepts  in  the hierarchy composition or manufacture of a generalization of the concept of excessive or less clear. This study aims to determine how much misconceptions and identify the factors that cause misconceptions students of class XI against biological materials in SMA as Langsa. This research was conducted in SMA as Langsa. The population in this study were all students of class XI Science SMAN as  Langsa.  Sampling  technique  in  this  study  conducted  stratified  random sampling, so the sample used was 210 students. This study used research instrument in the form of two-dimensional diagnostic tests, questionnaires and interviews. The results showed that the percentage of students' misconceptions of the material in high school biology class XI as Langsa State is 21%. The factors that cause student misconceptions that book 24.90%, 3.34% teachers,  parents 0.83%, 12.80% friends, internet 1.63%, 0.10% beliefs, and others that students responded by reading the student worksheet (LKS) or by believing in yourself by 56.39%.
