Abstract

This research was intended to identify the correlation between (1) creative thinking and science literacy and (2) scientific attitude and science literacy in the concept of environment pollution. Sample was consisted of 219 eleventh grade science student of MAN Medan that was taken by cluster random sampling method. This study was encompassed phases preparation, action, and post research. The instrument were included to scientific literacy test, creative thinking test and scientific attitude questionary. The results is indicated that (1) there is positive correlation between creative thinking and science literacy with r=0.433 (2) there is positive correlation between science attitude and science literacy with r=0.363. (3) there is positive correlation between creative thinking and science attitude with science literacy with r=0,59. This study implies that reading comprehension and science attitude have important role to improve science literacy skill.

Abstract

This research was aimed to develop a Student Activity Sheet (SAS) based on local potency for biology grade XII which is feasible empirically. Eligibility Worksheet was obtained through validation of subject matter experts to assess the feasibility of the content and presentation of the feasibility of worksheets, design expert to assess the feasibility of the design worksheets to SAS developed. Exploiting local potency in accordance with a curriculum that gives freedom to each school consider the potency of the school and the surrounding area. This can be done by incorporating elements of local potency in learning activities through the creation of learning media in the form of worksheets. Examples of local potencies have been integrated into the SAS are distilled palm wine processing (integrated into cell metabolism, fermentation alcohol), the activity of the material have been incorporated in a biotechnology are activities of coconut extraction to produce edible oil. This research and development using 4-D model of development research which comprises the step of define, design, develop and disseminate, however the disseminate stage of this study was not done. The procedure starts from the development stages: (1) problem analyze; (2) design of SAS; (3) validation and field trials SAS. The instruments used were sheets covering the aspects of feasibility validation of content, presentation feasibility, feasibility of the design and questionnaire responses of teachers and students. Data validation and the questionnaire responses of teachers and students were analyzed descriptively qualitative. Feasibility content and feasibility contents presentation SAS based on local potency at biology grade XII has been developed by subject matter experts is very good, in which the feasibility of the content had an average percentage score of 88.10% and feasibility aspects of the presentation of SAS has an average percentage score of 91.35 %. Feasibility design SAS based on local potency at biology grade XII has been developed according to the expert design is very good with a percentage score of 97.00%.

Abstract

This research was emerged based on the facts about the presence of many conceptual problems that lead misconceptions in biology textbooks while teachers rely too much on textbooks as learning source in class. This study were aimed to analyze the misconceptions in the high school biology textbook for grade 12 which shall be used by high school students, grade 12 in the city of Binjai, especially for the subjects (growth and development, metabolism, heredity, evolution, and biotechnology) as well as to determine the percentage of misconceptions categories (misidentifications, overgeneralizations, oversimplification, obsolete concept and term, under generalizations). The research method used in this research is descriptive. The concepts contained in the textbook were analyzed by using analysis of documents or textbooks based on the criteria of each misconception categories contained in the instrument for misconceptions identification and then comparedto foreign textbooks. The results of this study showed that: (1) the percentage of misconceptions on the subject of (a) the growth and development (26,09%); (b) metabolism (26,09%); (c) heredity (26,09%); (d) evolution (8,69%); and (e) biotechnology (13,04%); (2) the percentage of misconceptions categories: (a) misidentifications (8,69%); (b) overgeneralizations (17,40%); (c) oversimplifications (69,56%); (d) obsolete concept and term (0,00%); (e) under generalizations (4,35%).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the student’s self concept relationship relationship and emotional intelligence on student’s achievement in eleventh science grade SMA Se-kota Tebingtinggi Academic Year 2016/2017. Questionnaire was used to know the self concept and emotional intelligence, while the learning out comes gotten from student’s biology exam score in last semester document. From the results of the test data requirements known that the relationship of self-concept and emotional intelligence on students achievement, that calculated by testing the coefficient of determination,  percentage of contribution obtained 59,29% for self-concept of students, 54,76% for the emotional intelligence of learning, and 62,4% for the emotional intelligence and self-concept on student biology achievement. From the research, results can be obtained that Ha accepted because there is a significant relationship between self-concept and emotional intelligence on student’s achievement in eleventh science grade SMANegeri Se-kota Tebingtinggi Academic Year 2016/2017.

Abstract

This research describes the educators serve as facilitators who can enhance the efficacy of the learning process. The success is contingent upon the teacher's proficiency in understanding students, the curriculum, instructional methodologies, and assessments to effectively convey scientific information. Consequently, educators must enhance their quality and proficiency to achieve the objectives of Indonesian national education, namely to cultivate the nation's well-being. The National Science Teacher Association delineates three tiers for the preparation of science educators, encompassing biology instructors: preservice (student teacher candidates), novice teachers (induction), and professional teachers. Professional educators must be adequately prepared from the outset, even as student teacher candidates. Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) assists educators in enhancing the quality of classroom learning. This research uses quantitative descriptive research that captures information about the cognitive abilities of TPACK and authentic assessments of prospective biology teacher students at Medan State University and the ability to integrate TPACK in the implementation of ISFI II

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Desa Medan Krio Kecamatan Sunggal Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Yang menjadi mitra adalah industri rumah tangga yaitu usaha jamu tradisional yang dikelola Ibu Deli Sandra. Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra diantaranya yaitu teknologi pengolahan masih tradisional sehingga mitra mengalami kesulitan dalam memenuhi kuantitas Produksi jamu yang dibutuhkan dalam waktu singkat, khususnya teknologi dalam pemerasan dan penggiling bahan baku, dan minimnya pengetahuan mitra dalam pencatatan pembukuan usaha yang baik. Sehubungan dengan permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra, pada program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan pendampingan peningkatan usaha jamu melalui transfer alat/mesin penggiling bahan baku pembuatan jamu dan pelatihan pembukuan. Metode yang digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah metode pendampingan, praktik dan pelatihan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini telah menghasilkan teknologi tepat guna berupa 1 unit mesin penggiling bahan baku jamu, buku kas untuk pembukuan usaha, peningkatan produksi dan keterampilan menulis pembukuan usaha.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik pasien serta pemberian Vaksin Anti Rabies (VAR) pada kasus gigitan hewan di Puskesmas Kota Medan tahun 2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan dilaksanakan pada Maret 2025. Sampel terdiri dari 50 pasien yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, dengan kriteria hanya pasien yang menerima VAR. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas pasien yang menerima VAR adalah perempuan (59,09%). Kelompok usia yang paling banyak terdampak adalah dewasa (54,55%). Luka gigitan paling sering ditemukan pada bagian kaki (34,00%). Selain itu, jumlah total kunjungan pasien untuk menyelesaikan jadwal Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) hingga pemberian VAR ke-3 mencapai 150 kunjungan.

Abstract

Penelitian pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan buku ajar Perkembangan Hewan yang disusun berdasarkan capaian pembelajaran, serta berfungsi sebagai salah satu sumber belajar bagi mahasiswa program studi Biologi. Pengembangan buku ajar ini mengacu pada model Borg and Gall. Subjek uji coba dalam penelitian ini meliputi ahli materi, ahli desain pembelajaran, ahli tata letak, dosen pengampu mata kuliah, serta mahasiswa dari Jurusan Biologi. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian meliputi lembar penilaian validator ahli, lembar penilaian dari dosen pengampu, serta angket penilaian mahasiswa terhadap buku ajar yang dikembangkan. Uji efektivitas buku ajar dilakukan dengan mengukur peningkatan pengetahuan kognitif mahasiswa sebagai pengguna. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa buku ajar memperoleh penilaian rata-rata sebesar 86,68% dari ahli materi, 92,50% dari ahli desain pembelajaran, dan 96,00% dari ahli tata letak, yang seluruhnya termasuk dalam kategori "sangat baik". Dosen pengampu memberikan penilaian sebesar 84,37% (sangat baik). Uji coba pengguna menunjukkan bahwa pada uji perorangan diperoleh skor rata-rata sebesar 82,08%, uji kelompok kecil 89,00%, dan uji lapangan terbatas 86,43%, yang semuanya juga berada dalam kategori "sangat baik". Uji efektivitas menggunakan metode N-Gain menunjukkan rata-rata peningkatan sebesar 69,00% pada kelas eksperimen yang tergolong dalam kategori "cukup efektif", sementara kelas kontrol memperoleh rata-rata sebesar 47,90% dengan kategori "kurang efektif".

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the effect of the TGT learning model on students’ cooperation skills, motivation and cognitive learning outcomes on the Blood Circulatory System in class XI SMA Negeri 13 Medan academic year of 2023/2024. This type of research is a quasi-experimental with Pre- and Post-test Control Group Design. This study used two classes, namely class XI 6 as the experimental class taught with the TGT learning model and class XI 5 as the control class with Direct Instruction learning model. The results showed that the average score of students' cooperation skills in the experimental class 86%, was higher than the control class 64% (t test, p < 0.05). The average score of student motivation in the experimental class (80.13) was significantly higher than the control class (67.67) (t test, p < 0.05). While the average post-test score of student learning outcomes in the experimental class (80.00) was significantly higher than the control class (72.22). Based on these results, it is concluded that the TGT learning model has an significant effect to improving students' cooperation skills, motivation and cognitive learning outcomes in the Blood Circulatory System material in class XI SMA Negeri 13 Medan TP 2023/2024.
