Abstract

This research examines the Santripreneur in Santrendelik in terms of tangible evidence of the pesantren’s concern for entrepreneurship and religiosity comprehensively. This qualitative research uses a phenomenological approach with triangulation as a source and analysis of the validity of the data. This study found that pesantren have an important role in developing the economic independence of Santri in the future. This research also proves that the concept of Islamic entrepreneurship also known as Santripreneur in Santrendelik is clear evidence of the pesantren’s concern for entrepreneurship and religiosity, this can be proven through two leading activities in Santrendelik, namely oxygen alms and goat bank. The oxygen alms program has become a concrete manifestation of Santrendelik’s concern for the environment and the future based on cooperation from various parties. Therefore, planting trees and protecting the environment so that it remains sustainable is a shared responsibility. Furthermore, the goat bank has become concrete evidence of Santripreneurs in Santrendelik, because the goat bank is a productivealms that can make alms funds optimally utilized for economic activities which in this case are goats so that the value of blessings and benefits is increasingly felt by the community.

Abstract

The book of Risalatul Falakiyah is the work of KH. Misbachul Munir has a unique side compared to the Gregorian Calendar in general. This uniqueness is seen at the start of the calculation of the day and the market, namely Tuesday Pahing, while the count generally starts on Sunday Legi. This article aims to analyze the total of the Gregorian Calendar based on the book of Risalatul Falakiyah based on Karl Poper's falsification theory and analyze the accuracy of the comparison between the concept of calculating the Gregorian Calendar of the book of Risalatul Falakiyah using contemporary calculations based on technology. This research uses library research by conducting qualitative-descriptive analysis of data collected through documentation and interviews. The results showed: First, based on Karl Popper's falsification theory that the Gregorian calendar calculation theory of the book of Risalatul Falakiyah by K.H Misbachul Munir was proven by its correctness by comparing and testing its calculations with the standard formula of science obtained the same results. Second, based on the comparison and testing of technology-based calendar masehi calculations with mawaqit, it was found that the calendar calculation results from the book of Risalatul Falakiyah had the same accuracy as the calculation of mawaqit software.

Abstract

One problem in the implementation of counseling in Indonesia is related to cultural bias. This is because counseling theories originally derive from theories based on Western cultural values. Indigenous counseling with a Sufistic approach is one way to address this cultural bias. This research aims to deeply explore counseling practices in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) and the Sufistic values in their counseling services. The study is a qualitative-exploratory descriptive-research using a qualitative-ethnographic-interpretive approach. Data collection techniques involve participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings of this research indicate significant differences in characteristics between professional counseling (western) and counseling in pesantren, including inequality between counselors and clients (unequal relationship). Moreover, their relationship is likened to that of a father and son, appearing as a superior-inferior relationship. The Sufistic values applied in counseling services include humility (tawadu), obedience to the advice of the kyai as a counselor, limiting the principle of client confidentiality, and providing solutions directly through advice and religious prayers (wirid). Further research can be conducted to measure the effectiveness of Sufistic values in counseling services in pesantren.

Abstract

Zakat is an exciting and popular study today because it is not only an area of worship but also an area of muamalat (Islamic economics) that continues to grow and develop. The aim of this research is (1) to describe the development of Contemporary Zakat Fiqh in North Sumatra and (2) to describe the position of Maqasid al-Syariah as a methodology for zakat jurisprudence in North Sumatra. This type of research combines field research and library research using field and library data as the primary source. What makes this research different from others is that the research location is in North Sumatra Province, the largest city which promises the development of diverse economic sectors, diverse professions, rich sources of wealth that will produce considerable potential for zakat funds, as well as a modern management sector, provide space for the development of zakat so that it can increase the potential for zakat collection to the maximum This research is a qualitative method with collaboration between field research and literature. The theoretical basis used in this research is in contact with zakat jurisprudence in Indonesia, such as the rules for making things easier and eliminating difficulties (al-Tasyr wa raf al-haraj), the rules for changing fatwas due to changes in times (taqhyir alfatwa bi tahaqyyur) when times put needs in an emergency position. This study showed that the development of the potential of the contemporary zakat sector is entirely consistent with this theory and requires the potential of the modern zakat sector above to be a concern to formulate its law through the ijtihad development methodology, namely maqashid al-sharia to strengthen the formulation of contemporary zakat fiqh. Maqashid al-sharia on contemporary zakat fiqh in North Sumatra can be found through the values of benefit to muzakki, zakat institutions (BAZNAS), and zakat recipients/mustahik. Applying maqashid al-sharia-based contemporary zakat fiqh in North Sumatra has not been maximally practical.

Abstract

This article discusses the historical chronicles of Prophet Muhammad SAW and their significance in integrating faith values into Islamic education. The focus of this research is on the historical process that occurred during the period of Mecca, where the foundation of the Islamic faith was laid. This study aims to explore the dissemination process of the Islamic faith during the early Muslim community in Mecca, its significance in integrating faith values in Islamic education, and its implications for the renewal of the curriculum and teaching methods of the Islamic faith in the present time.  This study uses the prophetical-transformative theory proposed by Kuntowijoyo, which emphasizes the integration of modern science with the prophetic ideals of Islam.  The article concludes that the historical chronicles during the time of the Prophet Muhammad saw. are crucial for understanding the foundation of the Islamic faith and its integration into Islamic education. The paradigmatic core values in Islamic faith education emphasize the importance of core values, which should be the basis for religious education. These core values reflect profound principles in Islam and should be an integral part of efforts to reform the Islamic faith learning curriculum. This article recommends the rediscovery of the historical facts of the dissemination of the Islamic faith during the early Muslim community in Mecca as a basis for the renewal of the curriculum and teaching methods of the Islamic faith in the present time.

Abstract

The MUI’s fatwa regarding zakat fitrah through qimah raises some dynamics and contradictions. The fatwa issued by the North Sumatra MUI in 2008, the Aceh MPU in 2014, and the DKI Jakarta MUI in 2018 have different decisions that give rise to contradictions at first glance. Through a literature study using the descriptive analytical method, this study aimed to unravel the dynamics of the fatwa of zakat al-fitr through bimah and analyze it based on the MUI fatwa stipulation guidelines. The results showed that the fatwa issued differed from the procedures for establishing a fatwa. In the MUI fatwa guidelines, it is stated that MUI and Regional MUI fatwa decisions, which are based on predetermined guidelines, have equal status and do not cancel each other, and if there are differences between MUI and Regional MUI fatwa decisions regarding the same issue, a meeting between the two leadership councils needs to be held to find the best solution. This study recommended that the Central MUI review the fatwa of zakat fitrah through bimah and guidelines for establishing fatwas.

Abstract

Interests related to human needs always invite the possibility of the birth of new knowledge. However, if it differs from previous beliefs and ideologies, the findings from the embryonic new knowledge research should be addressed. Currently, the maqāṣid has become the most popular research theme in the field of Islamic legal theory and eclipsed uṣūl al-fiqh was facing such challenges. This article explores the evidence for the pros and cons of the separation between maqāṣid and uṣūl al-fiqh, explains the causes, and predicts the implications. Data was obtained from secondary sources in the form of maqāṣid and uṣūl al-fiqh works, both in the form of books, book reviews, journal articles, and dissertations, obtained from the web and libraries, and then analyzed using content analysis. This paper finds that there are indeed pros and cons of separating maqāṣid and uṣūl al-fiqh. The evidence is: first, there are differences in periodizing the development of maqāṣid; and second, there are differences in responses to efforts to make maqāṣid an independent knowledge. The pros and cons are triggered by differences of opinion regarding the theory of ratiocination, the method of istiqrā', and accusations of utilitarianism. These pros and cons can have implications: positive, because in turn, the Islamic law reform project can be handled more comprehensively, or negative, if the scholars get caught up and struggle with the debate until they forget to respond to real contemporary issues.

Abstract

The world faces a multidimensional crisis, with cultural, ethnic, racial, linguistic, and ethnic diversity giving rise to various issues. Wars in different parts of the world continue to result in bloody events and casualties. Preventive efforts are needed to address these problems, including promoting a culture of tolerance. Mohammed Arkoun was a figure and philosopher of pluralism who advocated and conveyed ideas about pluralism. The weaknesses of classical Islamic theological thinking become apparent when confronted with the empirical social reality of human life that continues to evolve with the advancement of science and technology. Mohammed Arkoun, an intellectual fNrom Algeria, attempted to comprehensively reinterpret the framework of Islamic thought, including aspects such as theology (kalam), Sufism, jurisprudence (fiqh), ethics, and exegesis (tafsir). Mohammed Arkoun expressed that Islam can succeed if Muslims adopt an open attitude toward pluralistic thinking, as during the early Islamic period and the Middle Ages. This pluralism can be realized if religious understanding is based on human values, allowing Muslims to interact with anyone. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature review study type, gathering data from various references, books, and articles related to Mohammed Arkoun's magnum opus: the study of cultural tolerance resilience amid pluralism. According to Arkoun, debates based on cultural diversity, thought, and theology in classical Islam lead to profound interpretations of the Quran and laws based on sacred texts.
