Abstract

Pesticides can increase productivity in agriculture. Excessive and uncontrolled use of pesticides can pose a risk of poisoning farmers. Decreased levels of cholinesterase enzymes characterize poisoning. The duration of spraying is an indicator that can affect the levels of the cholinesterase enzyme. This study aimed to determine how long spraying affects cholinesterase enzyme levels in farmers who use organophosphate pesticides. Examination of cholinesterase using the enzymatic cholinesterase test method. The most commonly used sample is a sample of serum rather than red blood cells. The study's results stated that there was a relationship between the duration of spraying and the levels of the cholinesterase enzyme. The duration of spraying in a day gives an idea of the intensity of pesticide exposure. The longer the spraying time, the higher the pesticide exposure and the decreased levels of the cholinesterase enzyme in the blood.

Abstract

Bacterial resistance to antibiotics is a global problem that occurs around the world, both in hospitals and in communities. Antibiotic resistance can affect therapeutic outcomes, therapeutic costs, the spread of disease, and length of illness. The purpose of this study is to find out the potential of Jambi forest honey and Klanceng Honey in inhibiting the growth of ESBL-producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumonia. This study used experimental laboratory using posttest with control approach, conducted at the STIKES Nasional Bacteriology laboratory. The results showed that Jambi forest honey and Klanceng honey had better potential to inhibit the growth of ESBL-producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumonia than cefotaxime and ceftriaxone, but less than ceftazidime. On the other hand, honey samples had weaker inhibition potential against positive control (ciprofloxacin for K pneumoniae and chloramphenicol for E coli).

Abstract

Bronok (Acaudina molpadioides) is a type of marine biota of the phylum Echinoderms class Holothuroidea that can empirically increase stamina and have positive effects on health. One of the infectious diseases such as diarrhea is caused by Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria which are still a major problem in public health and have the potential to cause death. Most of these bacteria have developed resistance to antibiotics This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of extracts of bronchus (Acaudina molpadioides) against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. In addition, this study uses the disc diffusion method with concentrations of 25%, 50% and 75% with the sample used is bronchoconstriction extract. The results of the bland zone diameter showed that methanol extract was able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with an average diameter of 4.1 mm, 5.3 mm, and 5.8 mm, ethyl acetate extract which is 4.7 mm, 6.2 mm, and 15.2 mm. Methanol extract showed resistance to Escherichia coli bacteria with an average diameter of 3.7 mm, 4.5mm, and 5 mm. The results of the bronok extract study (Acaudina molpadioides) had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in methanol and ethyl acetate extracts. Methanol extract has antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli bacteria. By looking at the inhibition zone of each solvent where the larger the inhibition zone, the stronger the antibacterial activity.
