Abstract

Stunting in children reflects the failure to thrive in children under five. so the child becomes too short for his age. This is due to chronic malnutrition that occurs from the womb until age two. Empowerment of cadres is a strategy used to increase the ability and realize the independence of cadres in carrying out their roles and functions in the development of public health. This study aims to determine the effect of empowering posyandu cadres in detecting stunting for toddlers aged 0-24 months in Desa Kapur, Sungai Raya District, Kubu Raya Regency. The research design used was experimental research using a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. Before the treatment was given a pretest (initial test) and, at the end, was given a posttest (final test). the number of samples as many as 35 people. Data were taken using questionnaires and observation sheets. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of training in measuring body length using a length board on the skills of cadres in taking measurements for toddlers aged 0-24 months with a significant value (p = 0.000). There is an increase in the ability of cadres to detect stunting after training in measuring body length using a length board from 0% to 100%. Body length measurement training for Posyandu cadres is a form of Empowering Posyandu Cadres in Stunting Control Models at 1000 HPK in Desa Kapur, Sungai Raya District, Kubu Raya Regency.

Abstract

The mining process is sometimes very complex, which can cause damage to the surrounding environment and cause pollution, such as chemical discharge and tailings from the mining process. The waste generated can pollute river water areas such as heavy metals Mercury, Lead, Cadmium, Nickel, and Zinc. To detect metals, an Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) instrument is used, which is quite accurate in determining the concentration of metals at very low levels, such as elements of arsenic, antimony, lead, and mercury which can be selectively determined. Based on the qualitative test results, mercury content and levels are 0.141 mg/kg, 0.129 mg/kg, 0.025 mg/kg, 0.130 mg/kg, 0.136 mg/kg, and 0.046 mg/kg. The conclusion based on the results of mercury metal is still safe within the limits of metal contamination.

Abstract

The wound is defined as a breakdown of the epithelial integrity of the skin, which can be caused by sharp or blunt trauma, temperature changes, chemicals, explosions, electric shocks, or animal bites. Jatropha sap (Jatropha cuniculus L.) contains tannins and saponins that can stop bleeding, prevent infection, and play a role in wound healing. This study aims to determine whether the sap of Jatropha (Jatropha curcas L.) in the form of a gel can heal cuts and determine the concentration of jatropha sap in an effective gel formulation in healing cuts in experimental animals. The sap was collected and then formulated into a gel with concentrations of 15%, 20%, and 25%. The results showed that the gel formula with a concentration of 15% Jatropha gum could heal wounds for 18 days, a 20% concentration could heal wounds for 17 days, and a 25% concentration could heal wounds for 14 days. At the same time, the gel base cures for 19 days. From the research, it can be concluded that Jatropha (Jatropha curcas L.) latex in the form of a gel can provide the best healing effect at a concentration of 25% with the fastest wound healing time of 14 days.

Abstract

Serunai (Chromolaena odorata L.) is a plant that has been widely used in medicine, one of which is as an antidiabetic. But treatment using plant extracts has drawbacks to the solubility of the active substance and its bioavailability in the body. Nanocapsules are one of the systems in particle technology that can solve this problem by utilizing a polymer that will encapsulate the active substance and release it slowly at the intended target. To achieve this, the manufacture of nanocapsules must meet several characteristic requirements such as particle size, potential zeta, absorption efficiency, and emulsion stability. This study was conducted to identify the nanocapsules characteristics of Serunai leaf extract (Chromolaena odorata L.) with chitosan-alginate variations and identify the influence of chitosan-alginate variations on the characteristics of nanocapsules. This study is a laboratory experimental study with a one-group posttest-only design. The manufacture of Serunai leaf extract nanocapsules using the emulsion-diffusion method, which is then characterized including particle size determination, potential zeta determination, absorption efficiency test (%EE), and emulsion stability test. The results obtained from the determination of the particle size of Formula I 196.4 nm, Formula II 264.2 nm, and Formula III 207.4 nm, potential zeta Formula I -36.1 mV, Formula II -40.1 mV, and Formula III -36.5 mV, the formula I %EE values 99.7%, Formula II 99.8%, and Formula III 99.7%, as well as all formulas indicating the emulsion type m/a. Three formulas have met the requirements of nanocapsules characteristics. The formula is best obtained in Formula II with a chitosan concentration of 0.3% and alginate of 0.6%, so chitosan-alginate variations influence the characteristic results.

Abstract

Sexually transmitted infections (STI) are infections caused by germs such as fungi, viruses, and parasites that enter and multiply in the body and are transmitted through sexual intercourse. Information on reproductive health influences the teenager’s sexual life. STIs can cause many physical, psychosocial, and financial negative impacts. Lack of information on reproductive health, both from parents and schools, determines the level of knowledge of teenagers about STIs. The purpose: The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of health promotion on the knowledge level of teenagers regarding the dangers of sexually transmitted infections. This study uses a pre-experimental design, which the type of design is one group pretest-post-test. The number of samples used in this study is 53 respondents, namely the first-year students of SMAN 3 Palangka Raya. The sampling method used is purposive sampling using inclusion criteria. Meanwhile, the data analysis used paired samples T-test. The result of the paired samples T-test is P value = 0.000 <0.05, which means there is an effect. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect between health promotion on knowledge and the incidence of sexually transmitted infections. The suggestion that can be given by the author is to utilize teenage health counseling programs to escalate knowledge and understanding of reproductive health.
