Abstract

Abstract - POUK Lahai Roi Church is an Ecumenical Church located in Jakarta. At a glance, you can see elements of neo-Gothic architecture in this church, such as the tower, pointed arch, rose window, and other elements. The church, which was completed in 2007, is included in a new building that is interesting to study further because of the discovery of elements of neo-Gothic architecture which is an architectural style that developed in its final era. This study was made to identify the elements of neo-Gothic architecture found in the POUK Lahai Roi Church based on theories regarding neo-Gothic architecture. The elements of neo-Gothic architecture studied in this study based on literary sources are the roof, the ribbed vault, tower, infill wall, molding, stained glass, tracery, sculpture, door, window, rose window, column, porch, spatial arrangement, arches, materials, and colors. The analysis in this research was conducted by studying the elements of neo-Gothic architecture and then comparing them with the elements in the POUK Lahai Roi Church. Based on the analysis, found 13 elements of the 17 elements of neo-Gothic architecture in POUK Lahai Roi Church. The thirteen elements consist of the roof, the ribbed vault, tower, infill wall, stained glass, tracery, sculpture, rose window, porch, spatial arrangement, arches, material, and color, while the four elements that are not in accordance with neo-Gothic architecture are moldings, doors, windows, and columns. Thus, it can be said that the POUK Lahai Roi Church has a neo-Gothic architectural style. Keywords: element, architecture, neo-Gothic, Cijantung Jakarta

Abstract

Abstract - Dieng Temple is one of the oldest stone temple clusters in Central Java and stores about 400 stone temples and now only 9 temples are left standing intact or partially collapsed. Batu Dieng Temple holds a lot of history of architectural development and transformation in the 7th to 8th centuries. The tectonics and architectural anatomy of Batu Dieng Temple can provide evidence of the progress and technology of Nusantara construction in that century, Batu Dieng Temple also stores stories about the relationship between Archipelago Temple Architecture with Temple Architecture in other places such as in North and South India. This study found that there were various kinds of transformations that were studied through the architectural transformation theory written by Mustafa (2010) such as the transformation of creation, cultural borrowing, and variants. In addition, this study also provides an overview of the temples in Dieng that have been found collapsed, such as the head of the Srikandi, Gatotkaca, and Dwarawati temples. Abstract

Abstract - Architecture is always pervaded by the context in which it is placed. This is of course closely relatedto the visual impression created on a large scale, namely the city scale. A city can have an identity because thearchitecture in it is related to its nature. The elements that make up the urban space will adapt and anticipateusing designs that respond to geographic facts. These adjustments can lead to dif erent visual goodness values.Cities are often simply separated from nature, coupled with the destruction of nature caused byindif erent humans. This thinking is called binary pairs, where a city and nature are considered contradictoryand cannot be united. Humans raise their hands against exploitation and environmental pollution. Valssonwrites that this thinking is wrong, and can be corrected by the method of complementarity. Therefore, the focusof this research is to find the level of complementarity between the geographical facts of the city and thearrangement of architectural elements through panoramic view of the city's space and functional condition ofthe Segiri Market Area, Samarinda. This research was conducted qualitative descriptive with the help of pictorial analytic technique. Theresearch aims to contribute a study of urban aesthetics, with a focus on the complementarity of urban elements. This research is theory-based from several literatures and online observation of the object of study. The datacollected is associated with a theoretical study of urban literature of urban aesthetics.Samarinda City is a waterfront city which is crossed by the Mahakam River and its tributary, theKarang Mumus River. Even though it is a tributary, the Karang Mumus River has a fairly large width of 40meters. This geographical fact relates to the surrounding architectural elements visually. These relationshipscan be complementary or analogous, dif ering in each area of observation. The review of the complementarity ofeach observation area is accompanied by observations of the activities in it, and dif erences in human activitypatterns are found based on these relationships. It is hoped that this research can provide benefits in the form of a study of urban aesthetics, with afocus on the relationship between natural and artificial elements of urban space and activity patterns in urbanspace in the Segiri Market Area, Samarinda. In addition, it is hoped that this research can become additionalknowledge and as a reference and basis for further research. Keywords: complementarity, urban elements, functional townscape, Samarinda

Abstract

Abstract - At the moment, daylight is a significant element in designing a building. Daylight design needs toconsider visual comfort and psycho-visual comfort in a building. Visual comfort calculate the quality andquantity of daylight in an area. Meanwhile, psycho-visual comfort relates to the experience or atmosphere ofdaylight in a room that af ects the visual perception, emotion, and behaviour of space users.Tanatap Ring Garden Cof ee Shop Ampera Jakarta is a cafe designed by RAD+ar, which have functions fordining, hanging out, and meeting. Public Park is the main concept of the Tanatap Ring Garden with sustainablearchitecture and a tropical building approach that responds to the climate on site. The application of thisconcept uses daylight as the main lighting from morning to evening. In addition to saving energy, the use ofdaylight is also designed to create an intimate atmosphere at the entrance and bar area, then an openatmosphere whose intimacy is reduced by the presence of an outdoor as a focal point of this building. Withvarious activities and designs of daylight openings, this aspect af ects the visual and psycho-visual comfort ofvisitors at Tanatap. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the ef ect of light opening design onthe quantity and quality of daylight. This study is also to determine the extent to which the design of daylightopenings af ects the visual comfort and psycho-visual comfort of visitors at the Tanatap Ring Garden AmperaCafe Jakarta. This research uses descriptive - evaluative methods with quantitative approaches. A quantitative approach isused to obtain data on the quantity and quality of daylight to determine visual comfort at Tanatap with digitalsimulation techniques using LightStanza. A quantitative approach was used to obtain data on theperception-emotion-behaviour of respondents with a questionnaire regarding the psycho-visual comfort ofvisitors to Tanatap Ampera. Then, data on the existing condition of visual and psycho-visual comfort werecompared to confirm the achievement of the concept of daylight designed by Tanatap architects. This study resulted in several conclusions. First, the visual comfort in the existing condition in terms of thequantity and quality of daylight at the Tanatap cafe already meets existing standards and is in accordance withthe concept of the Tanatap architect. Second, psycho-visual comfort has an important role in realizing the visualperception of visitors so as to create a comfortable, open, and intimate atmosphere, as well as an impression ofbeing in a garden in accordance with the concept of daylight from the architect Tanatap. Third, the design ofdaylight openings has provided visual and psycho-visual comfort with categories appropriate to be very suitablefor visitors in the research area. Keywords: café, daylighting, natural lighting, visual comfort, psycho-visual comfort, Tanatap Cof ee Shop

Abstract

Abstract - Design philosophy is an abstraction of determining a character in architectural design. Tolearn and apply the design philosophy to be designed or made, it is necessary to have good parameters or rolemodels in order to create or determine your own design philosophy. One of the architects who has an interestingdesign philosophy and way of designing is architect Andra Matin, where when you see the building he designed, you can feel and see that the building has its own character. The object of study that is considered quite interesting to study is the house of Andra Matin itself, namely AM Residence. AM Residence was chosen because the house is a house that Andra Matin designedwithout any interference from other parties, or it can be said that all ideas or applications of his designphilosophy can be fully implemented there. This research begins by analyzing first who Andra Matin is and what his design philosophy is, then heconducts an interview with Andra Matin. After getting the results from interviews and observing the designphilosophy, a 3D redesign of the building was made, then an analysis was carried out on how to apply AndraMatin's design philosophy to AM Residence, and cross-checked with the theory of form, space, andarrangement from D.K. ching. The purpose of this study is to find out how and also the application of his own design philosophy indesigning a building. After knowing the application of this philosophy will make architecture students have theright starting point in starting an architectural career. Keywords: Andra Matin, Architecture, Design Philosophy.

Abstract

Abstract - Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, South Tangerang City Government has temporarilyclosed City Parks 1 and 2. With the closure of city parks, people are looking for alternative public open spaceson a smaller scale, namely neighborhood parks. The focus of the research will be on neighborhood parks in theBSD City, Taman Perdamaian dan Taman Kesehatan. Both objects of this study have the same position as anactive neighborhood park. Currently the condition of Taman Perdamaian has decreased in physical quality.Meanwhile, the condition of Taman Kesehatan looks deserted by visitors even though the facilities are very wellmaintained. This study wants to identify more deeply the quality of the two public open spaces in terms ofphysical elements and their activities to find out what factors influence the success of the two neighborhoodparks as public open spaces in urban settlements. This research is descriptive qualitative. Information wascollected by field observations related to physical elements and their use in the two study objects. Furthermore, questionnaires and interviews were distributed to users, to obtain perception data as a basis for identifying thequality of the two public open spaces. Based on the analysis, it is known that the Taman Perdamaian hasmanifested three qualities that contribute to the overall structure of a place, namely permeability, variety, andphysical legibility. With the realization of these three qualities, the park's success can be seen in attracting moreusers. Meanwhile, in Taman Kesehatan of the three qualities that stand out, only permeability and the moredominant manifestation of visual suitability and richness that are more focused on spatial details. This answerswhy Taman Kesehatan is underutilized, namely because of the lack of embodiment of the quality of diversity andquality of legibility. Keywords: public open space in settlements, neighborhood park, quality of public open space

Abstract

Abstract – The sun is one of the most important and largest sources of energy for the earth. The energy emittedby the sun can be utilized both actively and passively. Solar cells or photovoltaics are used to convert solarradiation into electrical energy, which is known as active utilization.Rusunawa (Rumah Susun Sederhana Sewa)is a facility to provide affordable housing for people with low income. The target demographic create a needsfor clean and affordable energy, which can be overcomed by implementing solar panels. The current type of Rusunawa being built is high-rise buildings with over 15 levels. This new type ofbuilding decreases the roof space while increasing the facade area. As a result, photovoltaics panels must beinstalled on the building's façade. The goal of this research is to determine the effectivity of implementing solarpanels on the facade of Rusunawa Nagrak, in correlation to the tenant’s energy cost savings, as well as todetermine standard coefficients/ values so that the findings can be applied in the future to building with similartypologies with slight adjistments. This is an experimental-quantitative type research done with the help of Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, andLadybug software to find the most optimal photovoltaic panel configuration for the use of Rusunawa NagrakTower 1-5.Keyword: Government Subsidized High-Rise Housing, Photovoltaic Panel, Masses Configuration Shading,Building Façade, Cilincing Jakarta.

Abstract - The follow-up study “Evaluation of CAREDs SEB18,017 Disaster Evacuation Shelter PrototypeDesign Based on Constructability Trials” is a SEB18,017 design development research that uses a pop-upconcept to the construction feasibility stage. The development that has been carried out uses a 1:2 scalemockup so that there are still details that need to be developed to a 1:1 scale. The problems that arise arerelated to the structural connection system and material selection. In addition, the design development has notbeen tested in terms of adaptability regarding packability and fabricated material systems.Emergency shelter is a temporary shelter for handling post-natural disasters. Emergency shelter is important tobe prepared and provided for victims who need a place to stay after their homes are damaged due to naturaldisasters that occured. Emergency shelter design must be able to provide a safe, healthy and privateenvironment for disaster victims. In addition, the design of emergency shelters must also be able to be easilyprepared by users in a fairly short amount of time, have an easy yet ef ective packaging, and ef icient mobilityto places where disasters occur. Keywords: emergency shelter, pop-up, CAREDs, adaptability, ef iciency, packability

Abstract

Abstract - Architecture and Film are two different things but are interrelated and need each other. A film product will certainly not be completed without the role of architecture as a backdrop. Film represents space and time where this medium has a temporal spatial nature from cinematic representations that can be observed through architecture to the characters and events depicted. In addition, the architecture in the film is able to create an environment that brings the audience to a certain period. Films may provide a description of the social and cultural life of a community at a certain time, even the architectural forms and styles used. The film Bumi Manusia (2019) is an adaptation of the legendary novel of the same title which uses the architectural setting of the Dutch colonial era. This film uses space and architectural elements in a cinematic way, especially the Boerderij Buitenzorg house which is the dominant location in the film. In this way, the film Bumi Manusia (2019) can represent history and culture through the architecture of the Boerderij Buitenzorg house and perhaps in influencing the audience's perception of the historical period. The study used qualitative methods with descriptive methods, namely taking data on the object study descriptively and qualitatively analyzing it. The purpose of this study was to identify the elements of the cinematic space in the Boerderij Buitenzorg house. Elements of space can be analyzed using cinematic space tectonic theory through mise-en-scène (cine-spatial) and cinematography. Then identify the characteristics of Dutch colonial architecture on the spatial elements and building facades. Through the analysis of the characteristics of the Boerderij Buitenzorg house, the spatial elements and the building facade in this house do not fully represent the architecture of the Dutch colonial period. Through elements that represent and do not represent Dutch colonial architecture, the film Bumi Manusia (2019) as a film that depicts a historical period, can represent, manipulate, and change the audience's perception of the architectural environment in the Dutch colonial period. Abstract

Abstract - The Sultanate of Banten was one of the starting points for the spread of Islam in Java. Its location on the North Coast and its close relationship with Pasundan and Cirebon open up opportunities for influence from various parties to enter Banten. Given that the Sultanate of Banten (Islamic in nature) was established in the era of the Hindu-Buddhist transition to Islam in Java, it is possible that there is still Hindu-Buddhist influence, especially Majapahit as the last major empire that existed before Islam in Banten civilization, especially in terms of architecture and urban planning. This study discusses descriptive and qualitatively how the architectural elements in the heritage of Islamic architecture in Banten are influenced by the architecture of the Majapahit era and which were brought indirectly by Cirebon. The analysis carried out is based on spatial planning, figures, and ornaments as benchmarks that can be seen physically on the existing relics. Objects in Banten will be aligned with comparison objects from Majapahit, Cirebon, and also the Sendang Duwur Mosque complex. The results of the study indicate that the influence of Majapahit is still legible in Banten. This shows the syncretism that occurs between Hinduism and Islam, Sundanese and Javanese. This research is limited to the presence or absence of Majapahit elements in Banten architecture, so further research is needed to examine the interpretation of meaning and architectural evolution that occurs between figure and ornament, the proportion of Majapahit attributes to Banten.
