Abstract

Corruption is not only related to prosecution of the perpetrators, but more importantly also to the prevention, as it is better to prevent than to treat. To prevent it, it is important to integrate anti-corruption education with lessons at schools. Anti-corruption education is an essential effort to combat corruption. Anti-corruption education should be directed at the providing an understanding of the harm of corruption to the State, society and religion so as to prevent it from recurring in the future. The phenomenon of corruption also originates from education that tends to ignore a mainstream or paradigm to behave honestly both in words and actions. Anti-corruption education should put emphasis on moral values. Morality should become the main preventive measure for combating corruption since it will shape one’s behavior. Anticorruption education in school at least is related to three aspects: first, integrating anti-corruption materials into existing subjects, especially the curriculum of 2013 which states that all subjects containing spiritual and social values should be in line with the anti-corruption materials; second, corruption education should be included in extra-curricular activities in schools or other incidental activities which can also be done by collaborating with parties outside the school; third, the anti-corruption education can also be done through habituation in all school activities such as homework, worship and so forth.

Abstract

Negative Social phenomena in urban society due to changes in lifestyle, social interaction, and changes in social systems have led to problems in many aspects of life. The social problems indicate that urban community is going through a phase of ‘demoralization’ as a result of social changes that are not in line with the Islamic basic values and other norms. The increasing cases of crime in urban areas in terms of quality and quantity, such as corruption, fraud, theft, assault, murder, etc. indicate that the quality of the character and behavior of individuals or groups are still low, resulting from insufficient religious education and norms they receive from an early age. In this light, the Kindergarten or Early Childhood Education plays a very important role in instilling basic Islamic values in children from an early age. The efforts can be made through a series of activities of ‘play and learn’ to actualize Islamic values in everyday life. These activities are expected to achieve a better generation in terms of mental and intellectual capacities, having noble character and strong faith as well as piety to Allah. In addition, through instillation of basic Islamic values from an early age, we will have a new generation of Muslims who act as agents of change that bring about the glory of Islam in the modern era.

Moreover, the MUI of West Kalimantan Province should firstly consult the central MUI in Jakarta before stating the misguided fatwa. Besides, the fatwas of central and regional MUI have generally the similar position and could not abort one another. Should there are some differences, both leaders of MUI (central and regional) could discuss to find the solution.

Abstract

Understanding child development is crucial, especially for parents and teachers. With a good understanding, parents and teachers can properly treat a child. While many authors give attention to child’s development of cognition and mental intelligence, this paper focuses on child’s development of social intelligence known as socio-emotional development. The author presents academic explanations of these themes based on three theoretical perspective i.e., Sigmund Freud’s theory of psychoanalysis, Erik Erikson’s theory and Bandura’s theory. Based on the theoretical study, the author concludes that emotional intelligence is a skill that is formed (constructed) by external factors such as parents, teachers and the environment. Therefore, it is important to have an appropriate strategy in interfering with socio-emotional development of children, so they can adapt to and act appropriately in their social environment.
