Abstract

This study aims to describe the occurrence of pseudo thinking of high school students who have a normal IQ in solving the mathematical problems in the material Position and Distance from Point, Line, and Field. This research is a qualitative study with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected by through giving tests and verification with interviews. The subject is taken using the snowball technique. The research subjects were students who had a normal IQ (80-119). Where subject who have a normal IQ in this research are two students. The data analysis techniques used is data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Based on the results of the analysis it was found that high school students with normal IQ have a low understanding of the concepts in Geometry (Position and Distance from Points, Line, and Fields).

Abstract

Defragmentation of student’s thinking structures through scheme appearance to fix pseudo thinking student’s in solving problems HOTS test type for mathematics in the National Exam 2018. Pseudo Thinking happened because students did not reflect before answering, so students give the wrong answer. Pseudo thinking divided into false-pseudo thinking and true-pseudo-thinking. Hence, in this research to describe student’s structural thinking errors and the process of defragmentation of student’s thinking structures through scheme appearance to fix student’s pseudo thinking in solving problems of HOTS test type for mathematics in the National Exam 2018. This research is qualitative research with descriptive type. Researchers used three subjects to describe the defragmentation process of scheme appearance. The result of this research, all subjects experienced false-pseudo thinking and true-pseudo thinking. From the research, subjects can reveals that the process of scheme appearance that has been previously. So subjects can solve problems.

Abstract

This research was conducted to identify errors in the construction of concepts and to know the form of defragmentation of students’ thinking structures on set material. Data collection was done by asking students to answer on the main test questions. Data were analyzed by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the research indicate that the errors in the construction of mathematical concepts of students on set material were: 1) pseudo-constructions in the form of true pseudo and false pseudo, 2) misconstruction, 3) misconnection, and 4) logical thinking errors. The forms of defragmentation or the process of rearranging the thinking structures of students who experience concept construction errors in the set were conducted by giving scaffolding and cognitive conflict.

Abstract

The research aims to obtain the validity of Problem Based Learning teaching instruments (including lesson plan, textbooks, student worksheets and test for critical thinking skills) through a scientific approach. This type of quantitative research, Quantitative data obtained from the average results of the recapitulation of the validation of experts and colleagues then as an evaluation given through descriptive advice, with the method of collecting observational data, questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis techniques use content and construct validity specified by several experts in the appropriate fields. Construct validation by 2 expert validators and 3 peer validators. The results of the average validation of the learning device recapitulation were obtained RPS (4.00), RPP (4.10), textbooks (4.03), Student Worksheets (4.01) and Tests for students' critical thinking skills (4.00) in the scale range 5 with the title of good to be used as a research instrument. Each of the results of the validation construct of the learning device is given suggestions to be improved before it is used in learning.

Abstract

The students’ thinking process when solving HOTS questions in mathematics National Examinations very necessary to know. There are three types of students’ thinking processes used in this study, namely conceptual thinking, semi-conceptual thinking, and computational thinking. This study aims to describe in detail about field-independent and field-dependent students' thinking process when solving HOTS questions in the 2018 Mathematics National Examination. The research subjects were six 8th grade students, consisting of 3 students on each cognitive style. Data collection techniques are written test and interview. The written test and interview results data are analyzed according to indicators of the thinking process. The results of this study indicate that the field independent students' thinking process is conceptual while dependent students are computational.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the mathematical disposition of students who have sanguine and melancholic personality types, and whether the mathematical disposition of students with sanguine types is higher than melancholic types. The population in this study was 260 seventh grade students of Junior High School in the Pituruh district. Sampling using a proportionate random sampling technique was taken as many as 65 students. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires and tests. The results of the first study showed that the mathematical disposition of seventh-grade students in the Pituruh Subdistrict in the 2019 school year in terms of the sanguine and melancholic personality types of more than 60%. The second research result shows that there are differences in mathematical disposition between sanguine and melancholic types, where the mathematical disposition of students with sanguine personality types is higher than students with melancholic personality types.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the question complexity of the visualizer and verbalizer students in problem posing. The question complexity on problem posing is the complexity of the questions made by students by paying attention to some aspects, which are language variable, question complexity level, and students' creativity thinking level. This is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subjects were two visualizer students and two verbalizer students from 11th grade of Al Falah Senior High School. Data collecting techniques are tests and interviews. Test and interview data were analyzed descriptively. In the final result, question complexity of the visualizer students tend on the language variable level is second (low), question complexity is easy, and the creative thinking level is third (creative). Whereas the verbalizer students tend on the language variable level is fourth (high), question complexity is high, and the creative thinking level is fourth (extremely creative).

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of lattice learning methods on mathematics learning outcomes on the integer multiplication operation for the grade VII students of SMPN 2 Bua. This is a pre-experimental research design that uses a one-group pretest-posttest research design type. The instrument used a description test consist of 3 questions. The samples were students of class VII A of SMPN 2 Bua. The analysis result of the two-tailed curve, Ha was accepted, and Ho was rejected. The conclusion was a significant influence on the lattice learning method on mathematics learning outcomes in the integer for grade VII students of SMPN 2 Bua. So, a successful student not only by learning theory but also by the right learning methods. The results of this study will be able to help teachers to improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the results of the exploration of ethnomathematics of Sasak culture that can be used as a source of learning mathematics. This type of research is exploratory qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. This research focuses on buildings, crafts, arts, and traditional snacks. The research instrument is the researcher himself. While the method of data collection by interview, field studies, and documentation. Data analysis techniques with triangulation are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that Sasak cultural products can be used as a source of learning mathematics, especially on the elements of geometry including rectangles, triangles, trapezoid, circles, rhombus, laying-kites, cones, cylinders, and pyramid. Learning resources derived from Sasak culture, if properly utilized, will create meaningful mathematics learning for students.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to obtain the validity of E-Comic based problem-solving in similarity material. This research is included in the development research with a quantitative approach using the ADDIE development paradigm, but just for three-stage: Analyze, Design, and Development. The instruments of data collection used the questionnaire validation and interview by experts. Based on the results of the validity test to media experts and material experts, it was concluded that the validity of mathematical e-comic based on problem-solving with similarity material reached a very valid with the average is 4,48 from a scale 1-5, so this e-comic media could be continued at the next ADDIE stage to fulfill practicality and effectiveness.
