Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of accompanying teachers in improving students’ learning achievement on the topic of Growth and Development at SMP Negeri 6 Banda Aceh. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method. The subjects consisted of 32 students of Grade VII-8 in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through learning achievement tests (pre-test and post-test), observation of learning activities, and interviews with the accompanying and biology teachers. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and inferentially using the Normalized Gain (N-Gain) formula to determine the improvement in students’ learning outcomes. The results showed a significant improvement in student achievement, with the average pre-test score of 60 increasing to 88–90 on the post-test. The presence of an accompanying teacher played an important role in creating an active and structured learning atmosphere, supporting students who experienced learning difficulties. Collaboration between the accompanying teacher and the biology teacher in planning, implementing, and evaluating the learning process proved effective in enhancing students’ conceptual understanding, motivation, and learning outcomes on the topic of growth and development. Therefore, it can be concluded that accompanying teachers play a strategic role in improving students’ learning achievement through academic, motivational, and collaborative assistance in the classroom. The application of this mentoring model can serve as an effective alternative to enhance the quality of science learning at the junior high school level.

Abstract

This study aims to optimize the concentration of Thidiazuron (TDZ) in the in vitro culture of taro banana (Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum L.) and to integrate the results as a foundation for developing a biotechnology booklet to enhance decision-making skills. The research was conducted using an experimental method with various TDZ concentration treatments, observing parameters such as the number of shoots and leaves produced. To bridge the gap between biotechnological research and its application in education, this study investigates the optimization of Thidiazuron (TDZ) concentrations for the in vitro multiplication of taro banana (Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum L.). The results showed that the use of TDZ effectively induced shoot formation, with the optimal concentration obtained at 0.01 mg/L TDZ, producing an average of 22.25 shoots and 24.25 leaves. In addition to generating biological data, each stage of this study reflected the implementation of decision-making skills, including problem identification, information gathering, criteria determination, solution selection, and result evaluation. These findings serve as the foundation for developing a biotechnology booklet as a contextual learning medium that not only facilitates the understanding of biotechnology concepts but also trains students to make scientific and reflective decisions.

Abstract

The maritime industry requires lightweight, strong, corrosion-resistant, and environmentally friendly materials, particularly for crewboat construction. Conventional metallic materials often suffer from corrosion, high weight, and elevated maintenance costs. This study investigates the mechanical performance of epoxy–jute fiber composite materials as a sustainable alternative for crewboat hull applications. Experimental laboratory testing was conducted using a quantitative approach to evaluate the tensile strength, flexural strength, impact resistance, and environmental durability of the composites. Specimens were fabricated using epoxy resin reinforced with jute fibers arranged in four different orientations (0°, 45°, 90°, and random) and tested according to ASTM standards. The results indicate that fiber orientation significantly influences mechanical properties. The 0° fiber orientation exhibited the highest tensile strength (89.04 MPa) and elongation (1.287%), indicating efficient load transfer and good ductility. The 45° orientation produced the highest flexural strength (39.14 MPa), while the random fiber orientation demonstrated the greatest elastic modulus (25.81 GPa) and impact resistance (6.409 kJ/m), providing superior stiffness and energy absorption. Seawater immersion tests showed no visible degradation in the composite structure. These findings suggest that epoxy–jute fiber composites have strong potential as eco-friendly crewboat construction materials, especially when applied using hybrid laminate configurations (0°/±45°/random) to optimize strength, stiffness, and impact resistance

Abstract

Palm oil frond sap (NPS), rich in fermentable sugars and essential minerals, is a renewable substrate for the production of biocompatible biomaterials. This study aims to review the utilization of  of OPFJ as a culture medium for BC biosynthesis, its functionalization with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), and the potential of the resulting composite’ for wound dressing applications. The method used was a literature review by collecting the latest and most recent journals, recording and analyzing the results of the utilization of OPFJ with AgNPs. The results showed   that OPFJ-based BC exhibits nanofibrillar morphology, high crystallinity, and good mechanical stability. The incorporation of AgNPs enhances antimicrobial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, providing a dual-functional dressing material. Nonetheless, limitations persist in silver release control, cytotoxicity management, and large-scale production. Future studies should focus on pretreatment optimization of OPFJ, green synthesis of AgNPs, and in vivo evaluations to ensure clinical viability.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance the spatial resolution of land surface temperature (LST) mapping in Malang City, Indonesia, and to analyze spatiotemporal urban thermal dynamics associated with rapid urbanization. Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS thermal data were integrated with Sentinel-2 multispectral imagery using a Random Forest (RF)–based downscaling approach to refine LST resolution from 30 m to 10 m. Spectral indices, including NDVI, NDBI, NDWI, and NDMI, were employed as predictor variables, and model performance was evaluated using R² and RMSE metrics, supported by in-situ temperature measurements for validation. The results demonstrate strong downscaling performance, with R² values of 0.8374 (2019), 0.8468 (2022), and 0.7675 (2024), while field validation yielded a correlation coefficient of 0.722 and an RMSE of 4.63°C. Spatial and temporal analyses reveal a significant increase in mean LST from 24.67°C in 2019 to 27.21°C in 2024, indicating accelerated urban warming, particularly during 2022–2024. This warming is closely associated with land-use transformation, increased impervious surfaces, and regional climatic influences. In conclusion, the RF-based downscaling approach effectively captures fine-scale urban thermal heterogeneity and provides reliable high-resolution LST information, supporting urban heat mitigation planning and climate adaptation strategies in rapidly growing tropical cities.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically examine and synthesize empirical evidence on the impact of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education on students’ critical thinking skills. A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted following the PRISMA protocol by initially identifying 200 relevant articles from reputable databases, including Scopus, ERIC, and Google Scholar. Through a rigorous screening and eligibility process, 10 peer-reviewed studies published between 2015 and 2025 were selected for in-depth analysis. The results indicate that STEM-based learning consistently enhances students’ critical thinking skills, particularly through project-based learning, problem-based learning, and inquiry-based instructional approaches. The discussion highlights that the effectiveness of STEM education is strongly influenced by the quality of learning design, interdisciplinary integration, engineering design activities, and the use of higher-order thinking assessments. Differences in implementation quality, teacher competence, and learning contexts contribute to variations in outcomes. In conclusion, STEM education is an effective pedagogical approach for developing students’ critical thinking skills; however, its success depends on well-structured implementation and adequate teacher preparedness to support 21st-century learning demands

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed educational practices, particularly through the integration of gamified learning platforms such as Quizizz. This study aimed to explore students satisfaction with the use of Quizizz in Geography learning and to identify which aspects most influence their learning experience. Employing a descriptive quantitative design, data were collected from 35 tenth grade students through a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring four key indicators: interactivity, ease of use, learning motivation, and material comprehension. Data were analyzed using mean scores and frequency distribution to determine overall satisfaction levels. The results revealed that students satisfaction with Quizizz based gamification was categorized as neutral (mean=3.01). Among the four aspects, material comprehension obtained the highest score (mean=3.13), suggesting that real-time feedback effectively supported students conceptual understanding. In contrast, learning motivation recorded the lowest score (mean=2.90), indicating possible fatigue from repetitive quiz formats and competitive features. Technical barriers, such as unstable internet connections, also affected students engagement and comfort. These findings suggest that while Quizizz provides valuable interactive learning experiences, its effectiveness depends on pedagogical variation and contextual adaptation. Teachers are encouraged to integrate gamified tools strategically to sustain motivation and enhance overall student satisfaction in Geography education
