Abstract

Biology learning strategies and designs are courses that teach the principles of learning and teaching and apply them in the biology learning process. So far, students only use printed textbooks as a reference. This is not in accordance with the existing needs, because students are more likely to look for teaching materials from the Internet. This results in learning to be monotonous, not interactive and does not increase student creativity. It is for this reason that researchers develop project-based interactive books so that learning becomes interactive and can increase student creativity. The purpose of this research is to determine the curriculum analysis and student analysis in the development of project-based interactive books. This research is a development research using the 4D model at a specified stage. The analysis data were obtained through descriptive analysis. The resulted showed that 10 materials need to be developed in the module. Can prove that there are ten materials developed. It can be concluded that there are ten materials developed in project-based interactive digital books and the age range of students is 18-21 years

Abstract

Research on the role of biochar, inorganic and biological fertilizers was aimed to increase crop yield and brix value of sorghum in dryland. This research was conducted from October 2020 to February 2021 at The Teaching Farm Soil Science Study Program, Akar-Akar Village, Bayan, North Lombok. The method used in this research is an experimental method, with the experimental plot in the field. The experiment consisted of two factors, was designed using a split plot design. Biochar as the main plot with 2 treatment levels, b0 (without biochar) dan b1 (biochar 20 ton/ha); combination of fertilization as subplots with 4 treatment levels, namely p0 (without fertilizer), p1 (200 kg/ha NPK + 150 kg/ha Agrosil), p2 (20 ml/liter PGPR), and p3 (200 kg/ha NPK + 150 kg/ha Agrosil + 20 ml/L  PGPR). The research showed that interaction between biochar and combination of fertilizers is not significant, but the combination of inorganic and biological fertilizers significantly increased sorghum's productivity and brix value. The combination of inorganic and biological fertilizer (p3) is the best treatment to increase weights 1000 seeds (31.29 g), yield (25.96 kg/plot), and brix value (14.55%)

Abstract

Science process skills are skills that need to be developed in students in learning science such as science. The low level of KPS on the science concept is influenced by the learning model which emphasizes the aspects of receiving full information from the teacher. Student KPS is also dominated by an increase in scientific attitudes that require students to show their sensitivity to the surrounding environment. This study aims to determine science process skills and increase students' scientific attitudes through the implementation of the contextual teaching and learning model at MTsS Muta'allimin Aceh Besar. The method used in this study was an experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The instruments used were observation sheets and questionnaires. The results showed that the implementation of the CTL learning model could improve students' KPS in both categories with an average score of 71-85 and very good categories with an average score of 86. In addition to improving the KPS learning model implementation, CTL can also improve students' scientific attitudes with a value N-gain average of 0.63 including the moderate category. The results of the improvement obtained by the average student are in good categories with an average score of 71-85 then the category is very good with an average score.  86-100. The conclusion in this study proves that the CTL model can improve student learning skills and scientific attitudes, especially the material of vibration, waves, and sound

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of the blended learning rotation model to improve the scientific literacy skill of prospective teacher students. The design of this study used the Posttest-only design with nonequivalent groups. The research subjects were 76 students majoring in biology education at Universitas Mataram. The research was done to two experimental groups, namely the blended learning station rotation model (BLSRM) and regular learning (RL). The research instrument used a multiple-choice test which refers to the aspects of scientific literacy competence according to PISA. The data analysis technique was carried out descriptively, complete with the Hotelling's T2 test to test the effect of BLSRM on students' scientific literacy skills. The results showed that students' scientific literacy skills were in the very low category (mean BLSRM = 38.50, RL = 34.22) and there was no effect of BLSRM on students' scientific literacy skills (Hotteling Trace = .098 and Sig. = .080). To improve students' scientific literacy skills, BLSRM needs to be combined with other models such as problem-solving model, so it can be an effective strategy in science learning

Abstract

The problem in the harmonic vibration practicum is in calculating time accurately. Commonly, the time counter used was a stopwatch, but it was unable to provide valid data. As a result, the student has difficulty seeing the relationship between concepts with practical results in the laboratory. To overcome these problems, in this study, we developed a harmonic vibration practicum tool that is equipped with a digital timer using an Arduino Uno microcontroller as a light sensor. An Arduino can be programmed via a PC according to the wishes of the developer. This study was development research using a 4-D model (Define-design-develop-dissemination). The define and design stages respectively to find problems in the harmonic vibration practicum tool. The tool is finally designed and then calibrated, validated, and practical. The calibration results show that the percentage difference for repetition measurement and comparison that values with theory was 0.008% and 3.98%, respectively. In addition, the validation results show an average percentage of 87% or very valid. For practicality, the result through a limited test of Physics students of IAIN Batusangkar in the second semester shows a very practical response with a percentage of 85.96%. Due to time constraints, the dissemination stages have not been carried out in this study.

Abstract

All schools in general already have adequate technology and information facilities. Teachers and students can use computers as learning media usually the existing media are only in the form of powerpoints which tend to be teacher-centered, It is necessary to have interactive learning media in the learning process, one of which is Microsoft excel-based interactive media on chemical reaction equalization material, especially metathesis reactions. The name of the developed media is Chem React, which is a chemical reaction. This study aimed to determine the feasibility of Chem React media as a chemistry learning medium and to determine the responses of teachers and students to the development of Chem React media. This study uses the ADDIE research and development model. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling, namely 15 students who were able to use computers and ten chemistry teachers. The procedure for collecting data was needs analysis, design, development, validation, media revision, small-scale testing, and evaluation. Data analysis techniques calculated the feasibility of the media, student, and teacher responses. The results of the feasibility assessment by media and material experts obtained an average rating of 92.97%, in the very good category. The results of teacher responses of 91.50% and student responses of 90.33% fall into the very good category. So the Chem React media is very suitable to be used as a learning medium on chemical reaction balancing material

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of teamwork in online learning using a guided inquiry model with experimental methods, and the effectiveness of a guided inquiry learning model with experimental methods in online learning on student cognitive learning outcomes. The material used is dynamic fluid. The type of this study was a quasi-experiment with a research design is one group pretest-posttest design. This research was conducted at SMAN 2 Tanggul Jember in October 2020. The research sample used was 36 students of class XI MIPA 1. Data collection techniques are using tests and non-tests. Teamwork data collection techniques use a questionnaire given to students after learning via a google form, while the data on the effectiveness of the guided inquiry model was seen from the students' cognitive learning outcomes obtained from the pre-test and post-test scores. Teamwork data analysis techniques use Microsoft Excel to determine the description of data analysis, while the learning effectiveness data were analyzed using the N-gain test. The results of the data analysis showed that the level of teamwork ability after online learning was carried out using the guided inquiry model with the experimental method was mostly classified as medium and the guided inquiry learning model with the experimental method which is effectively used in online learning on student cognitive learning outcomes with an N-gain score of 0.514

Abstract

Potassium is a nutrient that plays a role in maintaining the function of the muscles and nerves that control the heart and is needed for body stability. The potassium content in the body can be obtained from foods such as bananas. The development of instruments and methods that are developed to obtain a more accurate measurement of potassium concentration requires an instrument that has high linearity and sensitivity. The instrument is in the form of an optical sensor system equipped with the use of optical fibers to guide the waveform to maintain its intensity stability. In this study, an experimental method was conducted with a sample of a standard solution with potassium as the solute and pure water as the solvent. Then continue to measurements on samples of banana milk and green banana fruit extracts. The results of the analysis of the measurement data using an optical sensor with a concave mirror reflection plane obtained a sensitivity of 0.36 mV/ppm and a linearity of 82.56%. In the plane of the flat mirror reflection, obtained an optical sensor with a plane mirror reflection plane shows a sensitivity of 0.12 mV/ppm and a linearity of 97.6%. The highest and most accurate linearity value is found in the plane mirror plane results. The next stage is the result of the maximum output voltage read on the optical detector through an optical sensor with a sample of extracts of milk banana and green banana. The results of data analysis on the linear equation with the highest linearity obtained the potassium content in milk bananas of 391.54 ppm and the green banana extract solution obtained 307.91 ppm, so it can be concluded that the potassium content in milk bananas is higher than green bananas with a linearity of more than 97%.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the assessment of ethnoscience-based science learning. The research data were collected through field observations and literature review. The research data were analysed descriptively. The results showed that: 1) there are five learning dimensions associated with ethnoscience-based assessment in science learning; 2) there are six dimensions of science related to ethnoscience-based assessment in science learning; 3) the type of assessment in ethnoscience-based science learning, divided based on the types of tests and non-tests; 4) construction of ethnoscience-based learning outcomes tests can be made from understanding to higher order thinking (HOT); 5) The ethnoscience-based essay test includes story questions about Sasak Sade Village, Bau Nyale Tradition, Sesek Weaving, Gendang Beleq, and Poteng Reket

Abstract

A number of activities occur around the Cikijing River in Rancaekek area, West Java, such as industrial and domestic activities. The various activities could decrease the quality of the river and surrounding environment due to anthropogenic pollutants that might be produced. Since the Cikijing River is also used as the source of irrigation, paddy fields around the river could be also be affected. The presence of pollutants in river sediments and agricultural soils over a long period could change their magnetic properties. Magnetic susceptibility of Cikijing River sediments and soils of the paddy fields in the surrounding have been examined considering that magnetic properties could represent environmental conditions. The results show that river sediments have magnetic susceptibility (cLF) in range of 356.2-456.3 (×10-8) m3kg-1, whereas soils samples have cLF varying from 94.1 to 347.1 (×10-8) m3kg-1, suggesting domination of ferrimagnetic minerals. The cFD (%) is <4% indicating the anthropogenic origin of magnetic minerals.  Electron microscopy images show the imperfect octahedral and spherules shapes of magnetic grains that supports magnetic susceptibility analysis about the source of magnetic minerals.
