The population in this study were farmers of maize, cassava and sweet potatoes. The research locations were Munjul District, Menes District, and Angsana District, Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province. The research design used a quantitative approach involving 90 respondents. Respondents were determined by means of proportional random sampling based on the research criteria. Data were collected from February to April 2021. Data analysis used multiple linear regression. The results showed that the factors that affect the level of farmer empowerment are perceptual factors, supporting factors, and empowerment intensity factors. The level of farmer empowerment in his ability to make decisions and partner in realizing food diversification is high

Abstract

Chili is one of the irreplaceable commodities for food necessity. Pasar Baru Kranggot is a market for farmers to necessity Cilegon people supplied. Farmers for harvest supplied to be a price taker and it makes them have fewer revenue sales. Government policy for producer have not followed by policy on the market and that shows presence price fluctuation on curly red chili. That’s price fluctuation in the market is that causes price risk on curly red chili commodity. Research and data retrieval conducted in Pasar Baru Kranggot, the method of this research is use the ARCH-GARCH model and Value at Risk (VaR). The findings of this study are indicated that the best model is ARCH (1) which is mean that chili price is affected by the previous week’s volatility. The price risk for one week’s sales later is the amount of 24.8% and in two weeks 35.07%. The prevention to reduce the price risk for farmers can be done by building cooperation/partnership with the start-up/marketing industry, planting time and planting patterns, cooperated with pesticide company and contract systems. The government effort can do to reduce price risk is production of warehouses, the setup of agents/distributors in supplying, the openness of information for farmers and the market, the treatment and the risk building of farmers.

Abstract

This research entitled Motivation of Farmers in Changing the Function of Banana Land to Rice Paddy in South Sipora District, Mentawai Islands Regency, West Sumatra Province. The imbalance in meeting the increasing needs of the population and changing consumption patterns in the community requires extensive agricultural land to fulfill food and housing which results in land conversion. The purpose of this research was to determine the level of motivation of farmers and the factors that influence the motivation of farmers in the conversion of banana land to lowland rice. This research uses a descriptive analysis method with a quantitative approach. Methods of data collection using questionnaires and methods of data analysis using a Likert scale and multiple linear regression. The results of the research showed that the motivation level of farmers in changing the function of banana land to lowland rice was very high, namely 83.62%, while the results of multiple linear regression on the factors that influenced the conversion of banana land to lowland rice, obtained the following equation Y= 14.321 + 0.736 X1 + 0.510 X2 - 0.463 X3 + 0.525 X4 - 0.514 X5 + 0.578 X6 - 0.406 X7. A further test using t-count shows that the factors that have a significant effect on the motivation of farmers in the conversion of banana land to lowland rice are age (4.482), education (2.419), income (-3,379), availability of production facilities (3,764), government policy (-3,059), the role of extension workers (2,838) and agricultural production (-2,515).It is predicted that the conversion of banana land to lowland rice is one solution to meet the availability of food security in Kep. Mentawai, West Sumatra.

Abstract

Rice is one of the important elements in maintaining Indonesian food security, almost all Indonesians consume rice derived from rice. Therefore, it is very important to pay attention to the increase and decrease in the price of rice every month so that the price of rice can be maintained stable and does not burden the community. This study aims to find the best forecasting model for the average rice price at the Indonesian wholesale or wholesale trade level for July 2020 to June 2021 using the SARIMA (Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average) method, where the data used in this study are Average data. Average Price of Rice at Indonesian Wholesaler or Wholesale Level from January 2010 to June 2020 sourced from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency. From the results of the research that has been done, it is found that ARIMA (1, 1, 0) (0, 0, 3) 12 as the best model that produces an MSE of 10356.71. From the results of this study, it is hoped that the government can take a concrete step in maintaining the stability of rice prices as one of the main food commodities of the Indonesian people.

Abstract

Dissemination of soil conservatioan technology in vegetable cultivation on slope in Majalengka. Degradation of agricultural land in the highlands by soil erosion disaster in vegetable cultivation is caused by land management systems without proper soil conservation techniques. Erosion of land by erosion causes a number of nutrients to be carried away resulting in inefficiency in the use of fertilizers. Meanwhile, the dissemination of information on soil conservation as an effort to prevent these threats has not been disseminated optimally. The behavior of farmers who tend not to pay attention to the balance of the ecosystem is due to the fact that information about conservation technology is not well understood. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the behavior of vegetable farmers in the application of soil conservation techniques on sloping land. The research was conducted in Argapura District with a distribution of three villages, namely Argalingga, Argamukti and Sukasari Kidul villages. The method of analysis used multiple linear regression. The results of the analysis show that the length of farming, external factors and the dissemination process have a significant effect on the dissemination of soil conservation technology in vegetable cultivation on sloped land.

Abstract

This study was conducted to describe the capacity of farmers, to determine the factors that affect the ability of farmers to control Plant Pest Organisms. Plant-disturbing organisms (OPT) such as pests, pathogens, and weeds cause problems in plant cultivation so that appropriate handling effort are needed. The application of pest control technology on potato plants in Argapura District has not been optimal. One of the reasons for this happening is the lack of information about the economic benefits of alternative pest control techniques other than synthetic pesticides. This study aims to describe the extent to which the capacity of farmers, analyze the factors that affect the capacity of farmers, and formulate strategies to increase the capacity of farmers in controlling plant pest organisms (OPT) in potato cultivation. The research sample was determined by purposive sampling technique, namely fifty-one potato cultivation farmers. The research variables consisted of farmer characteristics, external factors, and farmer capacity. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential analysis in the form of multiple linear regression. The results showed that the capacity of farmers in controlling plant pest organisms (OPT) in potato cultivation was in the medium category. The factors that affect the capacity of farmers are education, land area, and extension. Meanwhile, the factors that do not affect the capacity of farmers are age, farming experience, family dependents, infrastructure, farmer group activities, and access to information technology. The strategy is an effort to increase the capacity of farmers in controlling pests of potato cultivation in Argapura District is to increase group activities and counseling.

Abstract

Vegetable Price Risk During Covid-19 Pandemic in Serang City. This research aims to analyze price risk of vegetables during pandemic period in Serang City and to identify risk sources of high price risk vegetables in Serang city. Research was conducted by using secondary data from central bureau of statistic of Banten. Risk level was obtained by variation coefficient analysis through variance and standard deviation analysis. Identification of risk sources is conducted descriptively. Analysis result show that vegetables with high price risk with variation coefficient are spinach (0.058), long beans (0.052), potato (0.057), cucumber (0.094), cabbage (0.116), chayote (0.056), bean sprouts (0.059), long eggplant (0.051) and tomato (0.119). It can be concluded that tomato is vegetable with the highest risk which is followed by cabbage, cucumber, bean sprouts, spinach, potato, long beans, and long eggplant.Risk sources are generally caused by vegetables character which is typically perishable and supply fluctuations which is caused by pandemic condition.
