Abstract

One of influencing factors in improving the teachers performance is organization culture. This study aims to know the discipline training pattern, the assumption of the importance of organization culture in improving the teachers performance and motivation, and inhibiting factors in improving the teachers performance at SMAN 1 East Simeulue of Simeulue sub-district. This study is qualitative descriptive approach. The technique of the data collection were through observations, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study were head master of the school, teachers, and school committee. The analysis of the research shows that (1) Fostering discipline in improving the teacher performance at SMAN 1 East Simeulue is by referring to the decided rules, whether both statutory regulations and school rules. The discipline approach was being conducted gradually started from decided job description, conducted persuasive approach, supervised the teaching-learning process, and guiding the teachers’ task, and giving impose sanctions in accordance with the offense level. (2) A system of giving motivation to the teachers in improving their performance is being conducted through giving the unbinding, good service, career promotion, training opportunities, providing services on safety and convenience of the teacher task . (3) The inhibiting factor in improving the teacher performance is the lack of the school rule socialization, lack of coordination , in effective communication amongst personnel, and lack of involvement of the school committee in deciding the school policy.

Abstract

Civil society is often positioned as the ideal pattern of community life. From the historical aspect, the Islamic thinkers usually refers to the condition of civil society such as on the condition of Medina under the leadership of the Prophet Muhammad Ṣallallāh ‘alayh wa Sallam. Ideal concept of civil society is driven by a variety of many aspects including the pattern of the life of society, nation that refers to the rule of law, human rights, and respect for diversity in all its forms (pluralism). Certainly not an easy thing to realize the ideal society as the concept of civil society in such a way. It requires a serious effort, continuous and consistent from the variety and facets, one of which is a crucial aspect of civic education (civic education). These issues are the focus of discussion of this article.

Abstract

Teenage students have unpredictable emotional tendency. The unbalance of students' anger and sadness can be influenced by certain factors. In controlling the emotions, such as anger and sadness, the students of Islamic Senior High School have different ways.  It is wondered that they will vent those emotions towards things that are not in accordance with religious teachings. In this regard, this research was done to know the influence of educational, normative (religious law) and also social media (internet) aspects on their emotions. Therefore, this paper is a result of a qualitative study which is aimed at finding the dominant factors causing anger and sadness, and the level of controlling ability of the emotions. The instrument used was a questionnaire with pedagogical (educational), normative, and social media approaches. Findings show that the dominant factor causing anger is that someone they respect is not being respected.  On the other hand, the dominant factor causing sadness is the one they cared about were in the state of sorrow. Furthermore, the level of anger controlling ability is in very good category, with an average value of 21.13103 (range 0-30). In addition, the level of sad controlling ability is in very good category too, with an average value of 20.72414 (range 0-30).

Abstract

The issue of teacher’s performance has become a central point which is interesting to discuss by many people today. The fact shows that most teachers of SMAN 1 Darul Imarah, Aceh Besar, do not participate in coaching students effectively. This research employed qualitative descriptive approach. The research subjects were teachers and principals at SMAN 1 Darul Imarah, Aceh Besar. The results showed that low levels of teacher’s performance to student development is influenced by internal factors, namely the ability and motivation of teachers and the external factors are influenced by the physical working environment , and principal’s management. Teachers of SMAN 1 Darul Imarah, Aceh Besar, have not been fully able to motivate, nurture, and guide students in order to achieve effective learning.

Abstract

Puberty period is a transition time to look for the identity. This period is really sensitive that also determines the children’s personality in the future. One that develops during this transitional time is Juvenile deliquency which is one of many serious social problems for many parents nowadays. This problem arises due to the lack of attention and knowledge of parents, teachers, and surrounding society to guide those problematic children. An effective solution to overcome this problem is by implementing Islam ic education which is taken from some values of Al-Quran and Hadits. The aim of this research is to know the vision of Islam in education to guide teenagers during their puberty period. This is a library research that analyzes some references from books, magazines, newspaper and articles related to the topic of this research. The result showed that puberty period is really a decisive period to determine the children’s future education. In Islam ic education the children are trained to be qualified students and have a wider point of view. To reach this goal, Islam ic education has done some developments in the aspects of faith, moral, physic, and psychology.

Abstract

Education is a conscious effort to create a learning process atmosphere which students actively develop their potential. Religious value education is very closely with humans’ character. The aim of the study was to assess the implementation of religious practice in the SMKN 2 Peurelak. The design of the study is kind of Pre-Experimental design with qualitative approach. The experiment class used was an Electrical Motor Installation Department, class X, XI, and XII. However, for the interview needed, the participants involved were four students from different classes and two teachers. The instrument used in the study was a set of the interview protocol. This qualitative method would be analyzed by encoding the respondents’ initials and their transcripts. The transcript will be analyzed by identifying emerging themes. The finding result showed that the students sensed their spirit and motivation were increased after the implementation of religious activities in their school. They asserted feeling calm in heart, more concentrated on studying and well-disciplined between learning and play.

Abstract

The aim of the article is to develop the science instruction which is oriented in the life skills. The main issues discussed in this writing are life skills, the aim and benefits of the life skills, the school as a better place of instruction, the integration of the the courses, life skills, and the real life, the development of life skills method in science instruction, the suitable method of science instruction for the development of life skills. This article uses documentation approach based on the field phenomenon. Its implication is hoped to increase reader’s view upon the urgent of being professional in education with the life skills competency.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation and improvement of teacher activity, student activities, and student learning outcomes using Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) variations of Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual (SAVI) models on Simple Aircraft material. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK). The subjects of this study were the students of Grade V of SDN Mandurian of Tapin Regency of academic year 2014/2015 semester 2. The result of this research is the application of Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) variation of Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual (SAVI) model, , student activity, and student learning result of grade V SDN Mandurian of Tapin Regency on Simple Aircraft material. The learning steps can be explained as follows: (1) Teachers form groups of 4-5 people heterogeneously, (2) Teacher presents lessons, (3) Teacher gives assignments to groups to be undertaken by group members. A member who has understood can explain to the other members until all the members in the group understand, (4) The teacher gives quiz / question to all students, (5) The teacher asks the students to paste the group work, (6) The teacher asks the students for presentation and discussion, (7) Announcement of the winning group.

Abstract

This research intended to know teachers’ activities to manage the learning process of tajhiz mayit by using the PAI laboratory; students’ activities in the tajhiz mayit by using the PAI laboratory; and the practical ability of students of class XI IPA-1 SMAN 8 Banda Aceh on tajhiz materials. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) with four cycles, each consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results of data analysis indicated that there wis an increase in the average value of students and their active participation in each subject matter, ranging from bathing, shrouding, doing prayer for, and burying the dead body. For example, teacher activity in managing learning process in the first cycle of first meeting on bathing the dead reached 64.28 in average falling into mild category; and at second meeting increased to 87.71 in average with good category. In the cycle II, on the first meeting on the subject of shrouding the dead body was 64.28 in average falling into mild category; and at the second meeting increased to 89.28 on average falling into a very good category. Likewise, the increase in the score average and students’ participations in other cycles after the use of CAR in the laboratory.

Abstract

Recently, the importance of task-based language teaching (TBLT) is presumably clear and therefore has also widely being used in many countries. The process of recognizing a ‘task’ itself could be one of the fields where it tends to be slightly fuzzy, especially for a new, learner and inexperience teacher. Many English experts and task-based supporters have published various books to assist their ideas. Perhaps that is why; we now have had different criterion of assessing a ‘task’. This paper thus, intends to establish the extent to which a modern course book has encompassed principles and practice of TBLT when compared with older books. I have therefore taken two books as the source of data for this paper; Natural English-Upper Intermediate Student’s Book and Workout Upper Intermediate Student’s Book, both aimed at the same language level of learner. Both are intended to upper intermediate student.
