Abstract

Every individual who reads the Qur'an closely relates to the rituals of Muslims. Included in the discussion are students in Islamic boarding schools (Pondok Pesantren). Over time, more relevant and exciting methods of reading the Qur'an emerged, including the Iqro method, the Tsaqifa method, and the Qira'ati method. However, not all students have good religious feelings and motivation to learn to read Al-Qoran, especially teenage students. The purpose of this study was to determine the religious feelings and motivations of Qiro'ati students at Pondok Pesantren Al-Hasan Ciamis. This study used a qualitative approach using interviews with teachers and students at Al-Hasan Islamic Boarding School Ciamis. Data analysis was carried out by reducing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from the data obtained by the researcher. The results of this study are that the students of Al-Hasan Islamic Boarding School Ciamis have unstable religious feelings but have strong religious motivation because of the desire to satisfy curiosity and are influenced by groups of friends.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the model of poverty alleviation by analyzing several aspects that in Islamic economics are considered to have an effect on poverty alleviation. Using a sample of provinces in Indonesia, this study applies to panel data analysis. The novelty of this research is using more variables, including some aspects rarely discussed in previous empirical models. The results of this study indicate a significant negative effect of mandatory and charity transfer variables on the poverty level. Although using different proxies, the results of this study are in line with and confirm previous theories and empirical research regarding the effect of zakat on poverty alleviation. In addition, the variable of increasing income was also found to have a significant effect on poverty alleviation. This provides an overview for the government to be able to optimize the role of zakat and increase income to reduce poverty, for example, by integrating the distribution of ziswaf through the provision of working capital more broadly and integrated towards economic improvement and growth so that it will bring a greater multiplier effect. In addition, the results of this study also provide recommendations for researchers to complement the limitations of this study. The limitation of this study is the lack of proxies in describing aspects that become variables of poverty alleviation in Islam as a whole. Whereas in Islam, poverty and its alleviation are multidimensional things and are not limited to material aspects but also spiritual.

Abstract

The Central Bank of Nigeria approved the license of Non-interest financial institutions in the country in 2012. The approval has generated many issues and religious arguments everywhere in the country. Some supported the initiative to address poverty and financial exclusion, while others perceived Islamizing the financial sector. The study adopted a survey approach, while the questionnaires used and analyzed public perception, specifically in the Plateau State, Nigeria, using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The primary data survey questionnaire got 360 respondents. Some feel sensitive enough to oppose the system that is not imposed on any religious or ethical background, while others criticize the entire process of Islamic Banks in Nigeria. The study found that Islamic banks are established based on the fundamental Islamic teachings and originated from the Qur'an and the authentic Prophet Muhammad's teachings, which challenged some conventional financial institutions' practices that indicate a clear note of avoidance of such conventional facilities. Further, indicate that the Christian Association of Nigeria is sabotaging the momentum of Non-interest financial institutions through religious hate, and ignorance and sabotaging government policy to prevent the institutional contribution toward national development and economic growth in the country; using different approaches to frustrate the funding process of some government projects through Non-interest financial institutions. The paper recommends that regulatory bodies of financial institutions, specifically the Central Bank of Nigeria, should clear misunderstandings of the Christian Association of Nigeria towards national development, create awareness, and avoid discrimination in service delivery by pinpointing Islamic banking in the county.

Abstract

Most fishermen in Indonesia have enormous potential, but they are constrained by several things, such as capital constraints and constraints on marketing marine catches. This study aims to provide a concept and idea in the form of the Community Fund Crowdfunding Waqf (WCDU) model. This concept aims to empower fishermen and encourage Nadzhir's programs to be more active and innovative in absorbing opportunities and potential. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a literature review method. The results of this study are proposed ideas illustrated by the Waqf Crowdfunding Community Fund (WCDU) model as an alternative model for alleviating the problems and constraints faced by fishermen. But also ideas regarding the sustainability of the ongoing waqf projects, such as training for fishermen, supervision of waqf project implementation, and evaluation of the benefits of ongoing waqf projects. So the fishermen's waqf program does not stop at the physical realization of the waqf facilities but also the evaluation of the implementation of the waqf project.

Abstract

This research aims to measure Indonesia's Islamic Human Development Index (IHDI) and analyze the effect of domestic investment, foreign direct investment, and government expenditure on Indonesia's IHDI. IHDI is measured by calculating five indicators which are derivatives of maqashid sharia, namely the religion index, life index, family index, science index, and wealth index. Meanwhile, the analytical tool used to determine the effect of domestic investment, foreign direct investment, and government expenditure on IHDI is panel data regression. Observations were made in 34 provinces in Indonesia from 2015 to 2019. IHDI calculations show that Special DI Yogyakarta, North Kalimantan, Riau Islands, East Kalimantan, and DKI Jakarta are the top five provinces with the highest IHDI. Meanwhile, North Sumatra, Papua, East Java, South Sumatra, and East Nusa Tenggara are the five provinces with the lowest IHDI. The regression analysis results show that the IHDI in Indonesia is positively influenced by domestic investment and government expenditure, while foreign direct investment does not affect the IHDI in Indonesia.

Abstract

A marriage where the woman is pregnant due to adultery is considered uncommon and taboo in Muslim society. The pregnancy is always kept secret by the prospective married couple and their families. The pregnant Muslim women marriage rate in Lintau Buo Utara is quite high. This study focuses on the case of pregnant women's marriages, specifically how the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) officers may learn about the prospective bride's pregnancy and the family's actions after the prospective bride gives birth. The research was carried out in the form of a field study using the socio-legal research method with interviews conducted with relevant parties in this case. The results concluded that the majority of pregnant marriages at KUA Lintau Buo Utara were predominantly experienced by young couples at elementary and junior high education levels. KUA officials could discover about the future bride's pregnancy by observing the attitude of the prospective partner or their families during the registration process, the answers of the partner throughout the interview session,  and the results of the examination done by the Public Health Center staff. The family's stance towards the pregnant woman's marriage is that the couple will hold a remarriage after the bride gives birth. The new findings in this study are related to the way KUA officers reveal the state of the prospective bride's pregnancy, which was originally kept secret. This is very important to be applicable to KUA officers in other areas.

Abstract

Agriculture is essential to a country's economic development as seen in many advanced and developed nations who have valued and viewed agriculture as a catalyst for national prosperity and major source of food security. Bay’ Salam can be directly translated to ‘a forward sale or contract whereby a buyer purchases specific commodities that will be delivered by a seller in a future date which is more relevant to agricultural development. Although little has been accomplished in Nigeria, successive governments have placed a strong emphasis on the need to give the agricultural sector top priority to achieve both local and export food sufficiency. It's interesting to note that Gombe is recognized as one of the Nigerian states that have prioritized food and cash crop production as a vital endeavor that can improve both the state's and the nation's fortunes. However, agriculture must be integrated into modern society through Salam contract as suggested by this research to simplify agricultural endeavors, have a positive economic impact on the lives of farmers and rural communities, and to meet its demands and overcome its obstacles in Gombe state, Nigeria. The work used a qualitative research method that includes interview with relevant people on the subject matter and literature review to gather data. The study suggests that, if adopted, managed, and effectively used, the opportunities provided by Salam contract will strengthen the agricultural sector, lessen the frequent conflicts between farmers and herders, and ensure food security in Gombe State, Nigeria

Abstract

This article aims to reveal the reflection of the Qur'an on the oppressed group in the context of social inequality. Using the descriptive analytical approach in the various literature related to the subject of this research, whether in the form of primary sources such as the Qur’an and interpretations, as well as secondary sources in the form of books and articles, the results of the study found that the Qur'an's reflection of al-Mustadh'afin refers to a marginalized community, weak, oppressed, and powerless groups both culturally and structurally. In the context of social inequality, the poor, orphans, beggars, and slaves are al-Mustadh'afin groups. The effort to liberate the al-Mustadh'afin from all forms of discrimination, oppression, and exploitation that leads to social inequality is a vision of Islamic teachings. In the context of the Indonesian state, Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution are the two supporting pillars that are in line with the spirit of the Al-Qur'an's alignment with al-Mustadh'afin. Thus, the defense of al-Mustadh'afin in the context of social inequality can be done by maximizing the role of government, agencies, and social institutions.

Abstract

Qardhul Hasan is one of the alternatives for usury-based loans (debt). Islamic economic principles forbid a loan with interest. The aim of loan transactions through Qardhul Hasan is used to help increase the country's economic growth. This working paper aims to explain the concept of Qardhul Hasan management. The management of Qardhul Hasan can be implemented from zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf funds. One of the main regulations in carrying out the management of Qardhul Hasan is the DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 19/DSN-MUI/IV/2001 concerning al-Qardh. With a descriptive qualitative approach, this study aims to explain the implementation of the Qardhul Hasan contract at BAZNAS, BWI, and other Islamic financial institutions. BAZNAS and BWI are Islamic financial institutions in Indonesia that are active in implementing Qardhul Hasan in their operational activities. Therefore, the result of this research will also explain the differences in the management of Qardhul Hasan in BAZNAS Semarang Regency and BAZNAS Tulungagung Regency. This research is necessary to do because this study provides a descriptive perspective to explain the advantages of each of these Islamic financial institutions in detail. Moreover, the result of this study would become a comparison of each of the management of these Islamic financial institutions that can be input for every other Islamic financial institution.
