Abstract

Children's spatial space is an interaction space for playing and learning which can influence children's knowledge, social and emotional development. Aspects that must be considered in designing children's spatial spaces are safety, flexibility, sensory stimulus, social connectedness, accessibility and learning. In playing, children are free to move to develop their creativity and imagination in developing their knowledge. Children can get to know their space through exploration, interaction and direct experience with the process of recognizing shapes, colors and textures. Children's perceptions of space can shape their patterns and behavior in recognizing space through the process of seeing, observing and exploring space with their imagination and knowledge. The problem that can be developed is how children can recognize their space through the process of recognizing shapes, colors and textures. The goal to be achieved is the formation of children's spatial space through the application of learning room design oriented to shape, color and texture with play and learning methods. Observations were made on children's play activities in utilizing space and then analyzed to determine the space patterns that children needed. Observation results show that children can recognize space by recognizing the shapes, colors and textures found in space. Children's ability to recognize shapes, colors and textures can improve children's imagination and motor skills, literacy skills and emotional control.

Abstract

The state's commitment to ensure child protection in the Constitution No. 16 of 2016 concerning child protection, states that every child has the right to survival, growth, and development as well as the blessing of protection from violence and discrimination. Research conducted by Susenas and Riskesdas (2018), based on data from the National Socio-Economic Survey Integration, the analysis of the Early childhood development Index (ECDI) is known whether an early childhood has developed well according to its stages and age. These developments not only aim to ensure good literacy, numeracy, physical, social-emotional, and learning skills, but also pay attention to the fulfillment of health, nutrition, and care and nurturing aspects. However, it is different from the conditions in North Sumatra, based on data from BPS Medan City, where children aged 36-59 months have not developed physical abilities according to their stages. Therefore, this study was conducted to examine the application of ergonomic architecture in child-friendly furniture design as a form of needs to support children's learning and play activities. The method used is in the form of qualitative descriptive with a design thingking method approach  and the application of ergonomic architecture in a child-friendly furniture design, data collected at a PAUD in Medan City to children with an age range of 0-6 years through observation and interviews. The results of this study show that child development through sensory can be optimized with furniture design that suits children's needs, the concept of child-friendly furniture design as a reference and an alternative approach to early childhood development with the application of ergonomic architecture in optimizing growth and development as well as a guide in educating children according to the growth period.

Abstract

This study compares plastic deformation behavior in box girder bridges with multiple boxes and cellular box cross-sections. The cross-section's shape significantly influences the girder's post-yield behavior despite being designed to have the exact yield moment. Steel's stress-strain relationship undergoes linear behavior until the yield stress is reached, followed by strain hardening. This study aims to assess the impact of strain hardening on the plastic behavior of girder box bridges. Two types of box girder sections, multiple box and cellular box, are designed with equivalent yield moments. The analysis is conducted with and without strain hardening calculations to evaluate plastic moment, inelastic area length, shape factor, and moment-curvature relationship. The design and analysis follow RSNI T-03-2005 standards using SAP 2000 v.15.Results indicate that multiple box sections exhibit more prominent plastic moments and inelastic area lengths than cellular box sections. Strain hardening calculations show significant increases in plastic moments for both section types. Graphical comparisons highlight the differences in moment-curvature relationships between models with and without strain hardening. Understanding the impact of strain hardening on plastic behavior provides valuable insights for designing and assessing box girder bridges, ensuring structural safety and performance under load conditions.

Abstract

Inclusive higher education in Indonesia still faces significant challenges in fulfilling the rights of persons with disabilities to access equal education. This article presents the concept of a "Smart and Inclusive Campus" with a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach and the integration of sensory-based digital technology to create a more inclusive campus environment. A literature study and analysis of inclusive education policies were conducted to identify accessibility gaps and formulate strategies for developing campus facilities and infrastructure. The results of the study indicate that a combination of universal open space design, mobile-based assistive technology, digital navigation systems, and reinforcement of physical infrastructure can enhance the academic and social participation of students with disabilities. Implementing this concept requires the active involvement of various parties, including the government, educational institutions, the private sector, and disability communities. By adopting this innovative approach, higher education institutions are expected to create a learning environment that is equal, adaptive, and supportive of all students.
