Abstract

Drainage is one way of removing unwanted excess water in an area and dealing with the effects of excess water in the system. When the rainy season comes, there are almost floods or puddles on urban roads. The large population also makes the volume of drainage channels fill up quickly, while the drainage capacity tends to decrease due to rainwater (erosion) and sedimentation. Meteorological Street, Laut Dendang Village, Percut Sei Tuan sub-district, Deli Serdang Regency, is one of the villages that is frequently flooded every time it rains. On these issues, the researcher highlights the importance of evaluating the Deli Serdang Regency's drainage system along Meteorological Road to anticipate when the rainy season comes. The general exponential method can determine whether the existing drainage volume can still accommodate terrestrial run-off and domestic wastewater in the next 30 years and calculate the population growth. Based on the research results from rainfall data obtained from Meteorology Road, the rainfall intensity value for the last ten years (2010 - 2019) was 10.538 mm/day. Thus, the amount of discharge flowing in the drainage channel (Qplansning) is equal to 0.832 m3/sec, while the planned Q for the next ten years is 0.874 m3/sec, for the next 20 years is 0.953 m3/sec, and 30 years into the future. front is 1.111 m3/sec. Based on the calculation results, Qplans exceeds Qeksisting. Therefore, a new channel plan is needed.

Abstract

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the impact of the lockdown on the water quality of major rivers due to restrictions on activities within the country will have an effect. This research compared the Cimalaya Watershed water quality index values before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. River status was conducted using STORET and Pollution Index based on 2019 and 2020 river quality data. Calculations for each method use the same amount of data and parameters, including TSS DO, BOD, COD, TP, Fecal Coliform, and Total Coliform. The results showed a decrease in concentration for water quality parameters in 2020 or during the Covid-19 pandemic compared to 2019. The parameters that experienced a reduction included TSS, DO, BOD, and COD. But besides that, there has been an increase in water quality parameters in 2020, namely the parameters TP, Fecal Coliform, and Total Coliform. The average STORET and Pollution Index values in 2020 indicated that the river is getting moderately polluted than in 2019. This research can be a preliminary study, but using more parameters and methods will make the analysis more comprehensive.

Abstract

Children's spatial space is an interaction space for playing and learning which can influence children's knowledge, social and emotional development. Aspects that must be considered in designing children's spatial spaces are safety, flexibility, sensory stimulus, social connectedness, accessibility and learning. In playing, children are free to move to develop their creativity and imagination in developing their knowledge. Children can get to know their space through exploration, interaction and direct experience with the process of recognizing shapes, colors and textures. Children's perceptions of space can shape their patterns and behavior in recognizing space through the process of seeing, observing and exploring space with their imagination and knowledge. The problem that can be developed is how children can recognize their space through the process of recognizing shapes, colors and textures. The goal to be achieved is the formation of children's spatial space through the application of learning room design oriented to shape, color and texture with play and learning methods. Observations were made on children's play activities in utilizing space and then analyzed to determine the space patterns that children needed. Observation results show that children can recognize space by recognizing the shapes, colors and textures found in space. Children's ability to recognize shapes, colors and textures can improve children's imagination and motor skills, literacy skills and emotional control.

The quality of public space will greatly affect the appearance of a city. Corridor is a public space that can accommodate various types of community activities and including commercial activities. The public space on Jalan Karya Wisata Medan Johor is currently not like it should be a corridor which has very complex functions and is mixed with economic activity, thus limiting its movement and visibility. This study aims to determine the quality of the corridor which has various functions including as a commercial corridor with the concept of Livability Space which is considered to be able to solve the problems of a friendly and proper commercial corridor space in terms of activity, accessibility, security and environmental quality. This study used a qualitative method by looking at existing conditions and observing community movements and mapping them (Behavior Mapping) so as to know the tendency of people to be active in the corridor space of Jalan Karya Wisata, Medan JohorKeyword: Public space, Corridor Commersials, Livability Space.Abstrak: Ruang publik di perkotaan atau urban pada dasarnya adalah ruang yang diperuntukkan bagi masyarakat agar dapat berinteraksi dan bersosialisasi dengan aman dan nyaman di ruang publik. Abstract

Abstract: A public space in an urban area is essentially designed for the community so that they can socialize and carry out activities safely and comfortably. The presence of public spaces in large cities, especially, is very important and influences various activities of its residents. Parks and streets are examples of public spaces that are frequently used by the community for various everyday activities. The Teladan Stadium area in Medan City is one such public open space that is widely used by the public for various activities and has become a popular destination. This study aims to assess the extent of the benefits of this public open space using a placemaking approach, based on the criteria of sociability, uses and activities, access and linkage, as well as comfort and image (Bohl, 2002). The results of this study are expected to provide direction and policy recommendations regarding issues in public spaces with a placemaking approach. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a mapping of public activities through Behaviour Mapping in the Teladan Stadium area in Medan, in order to determine the extent of placemaking and efforts to transform space into a place used for activities in that area.
