Abstract

Mount Latimojong, located in Karangan Hamlet, Enrekang Regency, is one of the leading natural tourism destinations in South Sulawesi with its potential for beautiful mountain panoramas, biodiversity, and local cultural values. This study aims to identify the natural tourism potential of Mount Latimojong, analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors for its development, and formulate a sustainable management strategy. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through field observations, in-depth interviews with the community and managers, and documentation studies. The results show that Mount Latimojong has a main attraction in the form of a hiking trail to the highest peak in Sulawesi, a diversity of endemic flora and fauna, and pristine natural panoramas. Supporting factors for development include improving accessibility and high interest from special interest tourists, while inhibiting factors include limited supporting facilities and a lack of targeted promotion. The conclusion of this study is that the development of Mount Latimojong natural tourism requires synergy between the government, the community, and the private sector with a focus on environmental conservation and strengthening tourism infrastructure.

Abstract

This research discusses the design of a wedding essentials shopping center in the city of Makassar with the application of a Smart Building system to enhance operational efficiency, security, and visitor comfort. The Smart Building concept is applied to lighting, ventilation, security, and energy management systems through the integration of sensor technology, automation, and Building Management System (BMS). The research methods include primary data collection through field observations and interviews, as well as secondary data from literature and city planning documents. The analysis focuses on space requirements, activity patterns, and the potential for technology integration. The research findings indicate that the implementation of Smart Building can optimize energy use, facilitate facility management, and create a more comfortable and safe shopping environment. The final design includes efficient spatial zoning, sensor-based utility management, as well as security systems and information services that are digitally connected. This concept is expected to serve as a model for the development of themed shopping centers in other cities with wedding industry potential.

Abstract

Broiler chicken processing in Sidenreng Rappang Regency, one of the largest chicken meat producers in Indonesia, plays an important role in providing 65% of national animal protein, supporting global food security. However, broiler chicken production in this district experienced significant fluctuations between 2018-2023, with the lowest decline in 2023 (1,587,650 heads). This industry faces challenges such as limited infrastructure (roads, electricity, storage), compliance with food safety standards, and lack of skilled workers in processing technology. This study aims to design a broiler chicken processing industry with an environmental architecture approach that supports efficient production, distribution, and environmentally friendly waste management. Using qualitative descriptive analysis methods, the design is directed at meeting quality standards, increasing global competitiveness, and supporting national food self-sufficiency through logistical, accessible, and sustainable facilities.

Abstract

The deterioration of social and environmental conditions has given rise to the concept of Sustainable Development on a global scale. This concept has further led to the emergence of the ideas of urban livability and sustainable cities as strategies to address various problems arising in urban areas.However, poorly conceptualized urban planning, limited public knowledge regarding urban development, and the absence of a platform that facilitates communication between citizens and policymakers have become major challenges in realizing sustainable cities. In response to these conditions, the concept of the Makassar Urban Development Planning Gallery was conceived. This facility aims to provide services, information, and coordination for activities related to urban planning and development authorities. It is envisioned to serve as a communication hub, an idea-sharing platform, and a center for information and education between the government and the public. A survey conducted among 187 respondents revealed that the majority agreed on the necessity of a facility functioning as a center for communication and education on urban planning.

Abstract

This study explores the role of contemporary architecture in strengthening brand identity at the Malang Strudel souvenir center. Contemporary architecture is viewed not only as a physical enclosure but also as a visual communication tool capable of creating a strong first impression and a memorable spatial experience for visitors. The research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method through a five-point Likert scale questionnaire distributed to 20 active visitors of Malang Strudel. Descriptive analysis results indicate that most respondents responded positively to architectural elements such as geometric forms, modern materials, natural lighting, and efficient yet comfortable spatial arrangements. These elements have been shown to enhance visual appeal, create pleasant spatial experiences, and strengthen brand identity on an emotional level. Therefore, strategically designed contemporary architecture significantly contributes to building a strong and sustainable brand image within commercial souvenir spaces.

Abstract

Indonesia has abundant natural resources, one of which is nickel, which is known as an important raw material in battery manufacturing. The construction of a battery manufacturing plant can have a positive impact on the country's economy, such as creating new jobs and improving technological capabilities and innovation in Indonesia, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the national industry. This study uses primary and secondary data to analyse the requirements for designing an aesthetically pleasing, functional, and efficient battery manufacturing plant. The design of a battery manufacturing plant can produce a functional and efficient building design for the battery production process, as well as an ergonomic and comfortable interior design for workers, thereby improving productivity and workplace safety. Additionally, the design of a battery manufacturing plant can integrate natural lighting systems to reduce energy requirements and improve worker comfort. Thus, an effective battery manufacturing plant design not only enhances efficiency, safety, and product quality while reducing environmental impact and production costs but also improves functional aesthetic value.

Abstract

The design of the Educational Tourism Park in Makassar aims to present an educational facility packaged with a recreational approach, making reading and learning activities more enjoyable and engaging. The term “park” here does not refer to a green open space area, but rather represents a concept of space that is friendly, open, and inviting—similar to the atmosphere of a garden that is welcoming, interactive, and appealing. The main facility, a library, is designed to serve as an informal educational hub accessible to all, especially the younger generation. This library is complemented by educational play areas, discussion spaces, and interactive zones to enrich the learning experience. The design adopts a modern tropical architectural approach, combined with green building principles, integrating both educational and recreational elements to create a holistic learning environment. The research applies a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing primary data through field observations and interviews, as well as secondary data from literature studies and similar design references. It is expected that the presence of this building will contribute significantly to revitalizing public interest in literacy, enriching public facilities in Makassar, and providing an inclusive as well as recreational educational public space.

Abstract

Housing is one of the important components of regional development strategies because it involves various aspects of population and is closely related to economic development and social life. Flats or apartment buildings have now become a popular choice of housing in urban areas due to the increasing population and limited available land. This study employs a data collection method comprising primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained directly from the research site through observation and interviews, while secondary data was sourced from other materials such as documents, literature, regulations, and relevant online news articles related to the research topic. The South Sulawesi government is striving to improve the welfare and productivity of Polri members through the construction of flats on Jalan Paccerakkang, Kelurahan Biringkanaya, Makassar City. This construction takes into account architectural aspects to create efficient and functional housing. These flats are expected to improve the quality of life of Polri members and civil servants. The synergy between the government and the police is evident in this development, which aims to provide comfortable and adequate housing for its residents. Thus, the planning of the police and civil servant apartment complex in South Sulawesi can serve as a model for other apartment complex developments, with proper consideration of design, construction, and appropriate allocation to enhance community welfare.

Abstract

The Heritage Area of Gorontalo City features a prominent public space known as Lapangan Taruna Remaja. This public space serves as the city's central square, facilitating various social activities such as recreation, sports, relaxation, and culinary experiences. Lapangan Taruna Remaja holds significant potential due to its historical value and location within Gorontalo City's Heritage Area, offering opportunities to enhance its status as a tourist destination while contributing to the area's economic and social development. Despite its potential, the square faces several challenges, including the deterioration of its physical quality due to vandalism and the repurposing of its facilities by street vendors. Additionally, the square experiences water pooling during heavy rainfall, leading to flooding. These issues arise from inadequate utility infrastructure within the square. This study aims to redesign Lapangan Taruna Remaja as a public space in Gorontalo City's Heritage Area by incorporating the principles of Indis architecture as the primary design framework. The data collection employed a qualitative descriptive method, encompassing primary and secondary data. Primary data were gathered through observation, interview, and documentation, while secondary data were obtained from institutional and library resources, as well as media reviews from journals, scientific articles, and reliable news sources. The analysis and spatial programming include site analysis, spatial needs, space dimensions, and spatial relationships. The final design concept incorporates Indis architecture to shape the outdoor spaces and building structures of Lapangan Taruna Remaja. Architectural elements such as roof styles, windows, doors, and ventilation reflect the adaptation of Indis architectural styles present in the surrounding area.

Abstract

Perjalanan menuju keberlanjutan dan ketahanan lingkungan di lingkungan perkotaan menjadi semakin penting dalam menghadapi tantangan perubahan iklim dan urbanisasi. Surabaya, sebagai salah satu kota metropolitan yang menghadapi masalah ini, yang menyebabkan peningkatan emisi karbon, konsumsi energi yang tinggi, dan penurunan kualitas lingkungan. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi peran desain arsitektur dalam meningkatkan ketahanan lingkungan, dengan menggunakan Mawu Cafe di Surabaya sebagai studi kasus. Penelitian ini menyelidiki potensi dampak elemen desain Mawu Cafe, termasuk penggunaan material berkelanjutan, upaya efisiensi energi, dan adaptasi terhadap lingkungan. Metode penelitian melibatkan analisis kualitatif serta observasi lingkungan yang dilengkapi tinjauan literatur yang relevan untuk mengidentifikasi prinsip utama arsitektur berkelanjutan pada desain cafe tersebut. Analisis ini bertujuan untuk menentukan apakah Mawu Cafe berhasil menerapkan prinsip penting arsitektur berkelanjutan dan untuk menilai potensi manfaatnya dalam meningkatkan ketahanan lingkungan di Surabaya. Temuan diharapkan menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan serupa dapat berkontribusi pada penciptaan lingkungan binaan yang lebih tahan terhadap perubahan iklim dan berkelanjutan.
